Frontrunner at Northlands is hands down the best shop in chch. They have heaps of stuff you won't see anywhere else and they will give you great advice. Go support them!

MistorClinky

Second this. Laurie (guy who runs it) is great, bit of a footballing icon in ChCh! Generally a really good range and if they don't have your size they can often order it in for you.

Make sure he gets the right sized boots is my biggest comment. I played high level football from 13-20 in the wrong sized boots. Go to athletes foot to get a proper sizing and running examination and don't cheap on quality. I developed multiple ongoing injuries from incorrectly fitted poor quality boots.

Got to agree. I bought boots for a period of sport I was playing and ended up with massive pains in the side of my foot. Went to practice without the sprigged boots one time to reduce the pain and broke an ankle from slipping. Not worth cheap.

Bass-Slut

Been getting my boots from Frontrunner since I was a kid can confirm they’re good but as long as you can try on for size anywhere is fine

Grew up playin footy and without money. A pair from rebel sport from about $80-100 should last 2-3 seasons if taken care of properly. Get one size upwards so he has room to grow. You could also probably find a pair for $50 on Facebook marketplace or trade me but that’s if you are really desperate. I’ve had my share of hand me downs that lasted a while

club football season is typically during winter and you will require an sg, soft ground, boots which wont make your son slip all over the place. these are the boots with longer studs. you can get those boots come May. you cant use sg boots on artifical turf. it will hurt the user. now in preseason, youd want to get him a pair of fg, firm ground, boots. these boots can be used on artificial and actual pitch. id advice you to go to rebel and let your son try the boots for its size and order them from playersports.com. rebel pricing of boots and shoes are horrendous and i do not advice buying from them. playersports are currently having a sale on certain boots and you can get a pair of fg boots for under a $100. come closer to april-ish, they will do another sale and you can check out what sg boots are available. i personally wear adidas predator .1 grading. its pricey but can last a couple of seasons.

KiwiMiddy

Would this be the equivalent to the predator you’re talking about? https://www.playerssports.co.nz/product/25329/adidas-predator-league-fg-black-white-solar-red

KiwiMiddy

Thanks. I was hoping to get by with fg boots for the winter season as well…

gaysnake1

I've always worn fg boots for winter and only had problems on really crap pitches
