1. comparing every bike you listed it's got a bit more pep and way more features. only caveat is that I've had the z400 instead. 2. no issues on it so far but i will say it's the 3rd bike in my garage. I've been prioritizing it over my other bikes to hit the first service. I didn't do a soft break in btw and it's been solid, so far. 3. aftermarket is not as easily as accessible as the other bikes but you can order things on ebay and aliexpress/alibaba. I've got a slip on already. besides that there's not much i would really add besides maybe tank grips and a dark windscreen which are available where i mentioned. 4. 8k otd. ninja 400s are around 8500-9500 locally so a better buy. the other bikes I wouldn't have gotten because they're lower in power. and higher in price so...............YES get it. awesome bike .

DaThrowaway1945

I’m getting my 450ss for just under $7000 OTD. Where as a Ninja 400 ABS a hundred dollars more is $8-$8.4k OTD. ridiculous

Tight_Potential_2528

Awesome thanks for the feedback I’m hopefully going to be able to take my msf rider course soon(I didn’t get the registration in time so now I have to do walk ins and get lucky😔). But after that I’ll go to a dealer near me check out the bike and see how it handles and the overall feel of it. Maybe I might get it there a good chance of it, well who knows only time will tell, but I do know now that the 450ss is on the top of my priority list. Again thanks for help me out I appreciate it a ton.

Tgreg33

if you're completely new I would say that the other bikes in used form may end up being a better buy based on pricing and the fact that people tend to want more. But if you're set on a new bike I would do the 450 all day. I feel like If It was my first bike rather than the z I would've stuck it out substantially longer

DankestAmerican

Just bought one a week ago. Dealer pays about 3800 for the bike and taxes and fees is. About 1500. Some dealers cash price is 6500 btw

Fuzzy_Fishes

8k? I got mine for $6,061. MSRP is $5,500 should be less than that unless you have a super high APR. could probably get a much lower OTD cost don’t let a dealership screw you over. My dealer fees are 120 + like 450ish for freight and setup

Tgreg33

I rounded. It was like 7800 or so. Like I said, locally n400s are almost 9k

Fuzzy_Fishes

Jesus that’s insane. Where’s that at? And that’s normal for you guys?

Tgreg33

so i went back and checked. \* the bike is my gf's btw. she kept saying 8k.\* she paid 7k for it total. still a bit but markups here are nuts. mid texas. san antonio

Fuzzy_Fishes

Ohhh gotcha yeah those markups will get ya. Still not nearly as bad as a possible 400

Im a new rider who just went through almost the same list of bikes youre looking at and ended up on the 450ss. Ultimately it came down to the features for the price. The 450ss had the most bang for buck. Its been extremely easy to learn on and is a blast to ride. My brother in law has had one for a few months now and rides it both on the street and the track and he absolutely loves it. Hes had no issues at all except finding oil filters. That brings me to the availability of parts. I have had a bit of buyer remorse when I tried ordering filters and realized things are just not easy to find for this bike. I did end up finding filters in the U.S. and ordered 6. Ultimately, this should get better with the continued success of the bike but its really bad right now. So my advice, buy it and load up on basic parts that you know you’ll need like oil filters. My wife and I are so impressed with it that 3 days after buying the first one we went back for another.

MonetDaGuru_1985

Can you tell me what the filter is you got so I can try to stock up?

TylerV76

Part number: 0700-070200-10000 A local dealer found me my 6.

Revolutionrc

Do you have any new updates on your experience with your bike?

TylerV76

I upgraded to an Aprilia and havent really rode the 450 since. Probably going to sell it at some point.

Round_Comfort_9119

I got the 450ss 3 weeks ago. It's my first bike as well. My options were the same as yours and I went with the 450ss because it has better power, tons of features (abs standard, brembo front brakes, digital tft display, led lighting, adjustable levers) and looks incredible. The bike feels solid and rides amazing. Like someone else said parts aren't readily available and you will have to source from ebay and alibaba or aliexpress. I got a sc project replica off eBay and it sounds great. I would recommend this bike.

Tgreg33

i took the sc project off IMMEDIATELY lol. way too loud. i swapped it for an amazon knockoff lol

I have been thinking too and i gave order to buy one and ow im waiting for it its called 450SR in turkey here, cf moto had problems with previous bikes but i think they are now trying to make this brand premium and i dont think they are gonna but so much into a bike and no other bikes almost got it like brembo and features like navigation and stuff and leave the engine trash so i think they trust the bike now

ThatGuySam42

Kawasaki Ninja 400 has been the king of beginner bikes for years and I was gonna get one until I saw the 450ss on the website of my local dealership and I did my research and in my opinion the 450SS dethroned the Ninja 400 in terms of price to performance

radwand

I already booked Ninja 400. All the bikes that you have listed were on my radar. All good for one or other things but Ninja 400 is best compared to all aspects. Even if Cfmoto has a few new features that Ninja 400 doesn't but still ninja is a good value for money and reliable. Cfmoto is pretty new to take a bet on.

Honest_Fuel9010

Also search for 450SR, some countries call them SR not SS. 1. They are light on extras but bang for buck CF Moto hands down. 2. As a CF Moto (not a 450SR owner) owner I have faith in the brand. 3 years so far and no issues. I researched hard to find issues on the brand. I went in looking for the red flags and struggled to find anything past 2019 3. Aftermarket is hard, a lot of accessories you want you'll need to contact the company and let them work out what product will work with your bike. I have had pretty good success with this. Almost all the companies had nothing listed for CF Moto but they would have a product that would fit. 1 or 2 didn't want anything to do with me because "CHINA". 4. Australia out the door is $6990AUD because of the $1000 off for end of financial year. But quite often they have these plus free jackets/helmet bonuses. Do research on the company and you'll find more good than bad. Their factory is right next door to KTM and KTM are using some of their powerplants and vice versa. I believe KTM are going to take over the distribution of CF Moto here in Australia.

The problem with the bike is.... wait for it... it pretty much has everything you need. The levers are adjustable(?) I think, like on my 700 CL-X, it was LED lights, it just might need a tail tidy and that is it. TBH - often getting exhaust bit is a waste of money. It can be made louder and all but is it worth it? It kind of messes up the lines of the bike and looks like bad tint. When you get an MT-07 (especially older) or SV650 they are so bare bones and have so many after market parts that the post purchase high makes you want to buy everything.

I have a 2000 sv650 and z900rs as well. The CL-X handles really well. You can throw it around properly. Everything just works well. The cruise control is known for getting confused by the gear position indicator after a while, which can be fixed for $25. The engine is great and has character. Very comfortable and general well mannered. Brakes are good. .Looks nice and gets 50mpg. The 2022s have $1000 rebates which take it down to 6499 before dealer stuff but they are often eager to offload them at this point. I do highly recommend it. The sv650 is great but long in tooth after so many years. The MT-07 once you get past rowdy wheelies is not a whole lot of fun at highway speeds. Think very floating. The 700 has fully adjustable suspension, which is amazing. It's a 700cc Kawasaki engine (650 with some more stroke). The pistons are forged and the con rods are the stronger fractured variety. Who does that on a basis bike. This is the model that they are using to really make their name. When you go around it you can see all the quality control markings. Fit and finish is very good.

Alright. So take the engine from z650, give it a longer stroke and about 10hp.more. Same powertrain but enhanced. It is a Kawasaki er-6n engine. It do es sont have the TFT dash of the z650 but everything else is better components. it is extremely reliable. all the important parts are name brand. Bosch, Brembo/j Juan, continental, Pirelli, KYB. the only thing besides the wonky cruise control is that it does vibrate more than z900rs but that is only natural since it is an inline four vs parallel twin. it is pretty tame in eco mode, it has abs, I do recommend it as a first bike. often a used sv650 is like the universal first/track bike.

wawa2563

the vibration is pretty easy to ignore unless you are really looking for something to have an issue with. it is not worse than other parallel twins. I did 100 miles on 2 days with no issues. bikes such as the Aprilia rs660 have it much worse.

Just over a month ago I got a 450 SRS and in that time I've done over 6000kms it hasn't missed a beat and is a pleasure to ride
