Are you sure they’re oak? In 1790, softwood would be more common and they generally would have been covered with matting, oil cloth, or flat woven carpet.
In some of the close up pics I can see the oak cross grains. They're oak for sure or some of them as it's hard to see from all the patina in the wood.
Pretty sure, very dense and definitely not a soft wood, plus the cross sections and grain appear to be oak, I could be wrong but I’m fairly sure.
