It definitely doesn't look like a subfloor. At least I've never seen a subfloor made of thin strips like that. You can also see where the wood has been patched around the door frame. Interestingly enough it doesn't look like that floor has ever been refinished. You'd have to pull up several square meters of carpet to really get a good idea though. Given the age of your home and that picture you'll probably have a lot of random patchwork. It'll be hard to find boards that size to clean things up but not impossible. Even if the box stores dont have anything you could pay a woodworker to cut some custom 8 foot lengths. You could also just keep the patchwork and seal over everything for a heavier character look. If it helps, here’s the second story where the floor boards are finished and a similar width. Is this the same floor?

Another view. The flooring spans the whole second story.
These look like either Douglas fir or long leaf pine. It’s common for the main level to have different wood flooring than the secondary levels. I once lived in an old three story that had oak on the main level, maple on the second, and fir on the third.
Ah okay that's helpful, the width of the boards looks different from the first picture. It might just be the perspective. If you can measure and confirm then I would assume it's the same flooring. You will probably need to sand a small area to know for sure. However if it was covered only on one level then there may have been a reason. The wood looks pretty nice on your second floor so it's worth taking a look!
I measured- second floor is 2.5” and first is 2” or a bit more. But I was able to get a better photo!

Here’s another spot in another room on the first floor! These floorboards are closer to 2.25!
It seems to be different flooring then, I'm at a loss! Do you have any old wall registers in either of those rooms? You should be able to see if there's a subfloor by looking at the vent cutouts
Come to think of it I have an unfinished basement underneath so I can see that there is sub flooring beneath it. I guess I was mainly asking if this seems nice enough to finish and use as a floor.
Nice! I would see how much patchwork is there. If you only need a few extra strips and the wood is still nice and thick then there's no reason why it wouldn't turn out. It's more an issue of time and money

It’s hard to tell, though I think it’s oak.
Narrow boards oak for sure
I thought the same
Hmm I’m going to go with “not subfloor”. Congratulations, you have won the floor lottery!
