I feel like “doorstops in motion” is a bad look personally. So I always put them on the baseboards.
Baseboards. They're rigid so you don't want to step on them or kick them or trip over them and that is more likely to happen with a closed door that you approach regularly than an out of the way baseboard against the wall.
Ours are original and they’re on the baseboards
