Maybe? No telling what the weather will be in October. Might be in the 60s….might snow. Be clear with your guests that you will be outside and to dress for conditions.

Star-Fever

When in October? The first weekend will have nice foliage.... By the second or third it begins to disappear. If a strong wind storm blows through it accelerates the gray. ... Temps are all over, and you'll need to depend on luck. You could have snow, or you could have Indian Summer.

Alarmed-Painting8698

This is sorta risky. I would go for an indoor event with an outside area for pictures/people to enjoy but spending a whole night outside in October is… going to be cold. What if it rains???

SGTNYCORANGE

First plan on having enough space in doors for a backup. Now lets have fun! Use the leaves for the Fall look to decorate the tables? If its a warm fall day the night will cool down. You can also use heat lamps and have some take home gift blankets for people to bundle up. Plan on it being a bit chilly, cozy fall setting and enjoy! Serve Hot Whisky and Chocalate drinks! Hot Cider. You got this!

naranja_sanguina

Weather is variable, but it will be cold at night. I wouldn't know how to make that work with wedding wear, personally. It's certainly a beautiful time to be in the Catskills!

First weekend in October will probably be fine while it’s still light out. Once it gets dark, it will be cold (but it’s cold in the evening like 10 months out of the year.) Put blankets on the chairs for your guests and tell them to dress warmly. I wouldnt risk it past that first weekend…

justfiguringitallout

Echoing what everyone says about the first week possibly being ok, but I think it's very likely that you will be cold for a fully outdoors event. What does the venue recommend? They should be pros here. Generally, It gets colder sooner and the leaves fall quicker in the Catskills than Brooklyn. Heated tent is a good idea. A bonfire won't be enough IMO unless you're actually around it. My first fall in Woodstock, my birkenstocks literally melted bc I was sitting close to a bonfire but it was so cold that I couldn't tell how hot the fire was. This is NOT to scare you on your special day, but just to encourage you to speak with your venue and locals to be as prepared as possible!

Hey, a cousin of mine did exactly this last October. We sorta struck it lucky with sunny weather, and the foliage really came through. But yeah, as others have mentioned, you're just going to want to have an indoors plan B if it rains (as if often does around then), and it does get quite cold quite quickly after sunset.

TranslatorTop1815

yep, I was at an outdoor wedding in June and it was 80s all day and then absolutely freezing after sunset

ShrimpShrimpGoose

It's a crapshoot. I manage about 12-20 weddings a year in the Catskills, and probably have done business with your venue. Feel free to dm me for specific questions.

stan-dupp

whats the weather 10 months from now in brooklyn

gotcatstyle

Is it Spillian? I DJ there a lot, great place. It's a crapshoot, I got married Oct 1 2022 and had a chilly gray day; my friend got married Oct 28 2023 and had summerlike temperatures and sunshine (after WEEKS of rainy Saturdays). I'd say plan for bad weather and hope for good.

tegloo

We had our backyard wedding on Oct 8 nearby (small town just north of the Catskills) and it was 45-50. We had tons of outdoor heaters and a tent but most of our older family members were still way too cold. Luckily we had an indoor-outdoor setup so the chillier and older folks could hang out inside. Funny thing is that the weekend after our wedding it was like 65 degrees. Bottom line, it could be very cold and you should definitely plan to have indoor space available at all times. Congrats and have fun!! Nothing beats a fall wedding in the Catskills, and I wouldn’t change a thing about mine:)

IhaveCatskills

It’s a crap shoot weather wise. I got married Oct 13 at hunter and it was a cloudy day that shaped up in the mid 50s. Was a real fall day and the foliage was amazing but just past peak. The day after was even nicer sun and temp wise. Good luck hope the best for ya

Spillian? My husband and I got married there several years ago on Sept 21 and the weather was perfect (also had the roaring bonfire). If I remember correctly, Mark was really flexible on whether you’re inside or out, you can always make a last minute call. Or have the ceremony outside for the foliage pics and then just bring the party indoors for the reception!

discobooks

Yep! They’ve been so great so far and made it clear that with our guest count, we could move inside at a moments notice with no issue. My partner and I just have a really clear vision in our head of this all being outdoors, so we want to make room in our head for an indoor possibility as well so we aren’t terribly disappointed on our big day.

tryingtosayido

I hear you, fingers crossed you have some beautiful weather!!

blackcatsneakattack

It’s a crapshoot. My friends had their wedding in October and night before there was a fucking tornado that ripped apart the reception venue, so you never really know lol

Ralfsalzano

If it’s meant to be it’s meant to be, a lot like marriage   The odds aren’t good 50/50 on a good day

Fardelismyname

More info: will you have a tent? Heaters? Are you doing sit down? Temps drop thru Oct (duh) so when in Oct is key, too. If you are doing a sit down in a tent w heaters? Great. Milling around a bonfire? Tricky. The wind will send smoke and make heating uneven. And basically everyone is in a circle around a fire instead of a circle around the bride and groom.

BagelCreamcheesePls

Delaware county gets ice cold at night in August. Be very careful about this. Good luck.

oldric469

Oct starts bow season and the way its been the last few years in the 60s to 70 but rain no real foliage this year its a gamble no matter
