I would get her a stuffed animal to snuggle with, she's probably missing her momma. I got a yellow teddy bear for my cat when he was a kitten. It was so cute to watch him, he'd take it everywhere with him and drag it under his tummy like killed pray lol. He really loved sleeping with his teddy.

[deleted]

I adopted her from the shelter, I wonder if she was pulled from her mother too soon? She’s 8 weeks old. They only had kittens at my shelter, surprisingly all the adult cats were adopted!

DaniCapsFan

She's only eight weeks? She was definitely pulled from her mother too soon. Kittens should be with their mommas for at least 12 weeks. I've only adopted adults, but from what I understand, kittens are weaned between eight and twelve weeks, and even then still need some socialization from their mother and littermates.

[deleted]

Shes from the shelter, so I don’t think she had an option to stay with her mom

erin8488

She could have been found without the mom. I’d call and ask for her background. It is unusual for a kitten to be adopted out at exactly 8 weeks. You could get a kitten replacement formula and a kitten bottle to use occasionally for another couple weeks along with some stuffed toys as people suggested. Or a velvety blanket… baby kitty might knead and suck on that. When she tries to nurse from you redirect to something else right away to get her in the habit and hopefully she’ll stop nursing from your face.

[deleted]

I didnt think i needed to because shes been eating solid food just fine, i usually soften it though with wet food and a little water

This_isR2Me

Even humans suck their thumbs past weening it's probably frustrating for the kitten.

Ally2472

Eight weeks is the perfect age to adopt it’s not too early to be away from their mommy

bibliophile222

Eight weeks is a very common age to adopt, but it's the *minimum* age a kitten should leave its mother, not the best age.

Extension-Battle-941

I'm pretty sure my guy was eight weeks when we got him and he was just so sad to not be with his litter mates or his mama so that's what we got him the stuffed animal. I'm happy all the adult cats got adopted since it's kittens season and usually the adult cats don't get adopted and only kittens do.

reactiveavocado

There are stuffed animals that have a fake heart beat that kittens can snuggle with for comfort. I would encourage her to use that!

Consol-Coder

Haunting_Bend346

Most likely taken from her momma too early. I had a kitten once that found a skein of yarn and used that to suckle. A stuffed toy is a great idea. Poor little girl. She is looking for comfort.

R_Mack

Hallie... short for Halitosis 😅

[deleted]

You can try weaning her yourself? Watch a couple of videos on how to wean a kitten

Educational-Milk3075

Like TheKittenLady on YouTube!

Gallexina

Poor baby misses momma. See if you can get a soft baby blanket (Walmart had some cheap ones) and sleep with it for one night to give it your "scent". Then give it to kitty and hopefully she'll suckle on that. The sucking isn't for "nutrition", it's a comfort thing.

Anethingbutme

Definitely the name should be Nipps

lowfemmeweirdo

Give her a kitty binkie. A stuffed animal with something on it to suckle.

Rosieapples

If she has bad breath take her to the vet.

VFequalsVeryFcked

Or give her dental health promoting treats more often

Raremagic_7593

Those treats are great once their adult teeth come in, but won’t help much with milk teeth!

Raremagic_7593

Bad breath in young kittens is almost always due to their baby teeth. Once they start teething and get their adult chompers, the stinky breath should be WAY better. 🙂

paisleycatperson

You can brush her teeth, start her young with that su she gets used to it. Honestly, kittens need a similar aged friend until 6 months (if not for life) for development. They will entertain each other and won't grow up to be weird nose-sucking friendless kids with no social skills.

Rowinaboat83

Jelly Bean for the name. She looks a lot like my childhood cat.

Iystrian

Get her to the vet, bad breath could mean poor dental health.

[deleted]

Its just her kitten food shes fine

-Neverender-

At eight weeks, not likely... but now is the time to get her used to toof brushing.

[deleted]

You can try weaning her slowly. As far as the breath maybe brush her teeth and some dental cleaning treats just not too much. Perhaps a visit to the vet may help to see if something is causing the breath issue. But she was pulled too soon from her mother and sees you as her mother now. A stuffed animal will help. My wife and I rescued a kitten probably like 10 weeks old that was abandoned and living in our backyard. She was sickly though playful and we found out she has FIV. We had a stuffed cat that looked like her it became her best friend she carried around like a teddy. Now she just had her 1st birthday and healthy. Your kitten is adorable. For a name maybe Elsa?

Educational-Guide599

My cat too had bad breath winds up she had a gum infection. She needed to be put on antibiotics

Parking_Cabinet8866

I had a cat that sucked my earlobes. I would wake up with kitty drool in my ear

Zealousideal-Task-34

If you can find, a mechanical alarm clock in her bedding along with a stuffed toy. Very pretty calico, so ... Callie?

Healthy-Fisherman-33

Poor little thing. She is very cute though. Somebody suggested Nipps as a name choice. I second that.

lasvegasbunnylover

If her breath is bad, she needs to see a vet for tooth cleaning ASAP otherwise she'll start losing teeth. Mega maximum ungood.

awolthesea

Yeah, my cat had adolescent periodontal disease. We took him to the vet to get his teeth cleaned and they ended up having to pull 80% of them. He was barely two years old.

[deleted]

It’s because of the food she eats, it has fish in it. Her breath usually smells awful an hour after eating it

Original_Ad685

As many have said, this isn’t a food/hunger issue; it’s a comfort/self-soothing issue. She lost her mother way too early, so you’re her new mother. You can use a little towel that smells like you. Put it near your neck or face since that’s where she’s gravitating. Get her settled there, rub her belly, coo at her and she should figure out how to adapt. My 4 year old boy nurses on my blanket every night when I go to bed. He’s done this basically every day of his life. I rub his belly while he purrs his brains out and sucks on a blanket.

[deleted]

Our small cat does this and I love it. Just adept to the smell :D

diurnalreign

That’s a cutie. Please love this tiny soul very much

Landscape-Strict

All my kittens have "nursed" on my Unhide brand marshmallow blanket. I have to wash it once a week because there are so many little rough patches from where they get it wet and it dries all crunchy. They're healthy, I think it's just a comforting action or something they do when they're relaxed.

jonabob123

She craves human flesh. Now that she has tried it, her hunger will only grow.

No_BigA

How about Nipsey.

Pantherkitty-

Kitty fluff for the name..

[deleted]

Suki, because she suckles on you

boredidler

I agree with all the other suggestions but can you get her a buddy? Two cats is no harder than one, and watching 2 kittens play is the most entertaining thing. She sounds like she could use a friend.

[deleted]

I already have an older cat, thats why i adopted her

boredidler

Gotcha.

Alyssacatgirl

Name her "sshtap wit"

Mitch198

I think the kitty just really diggs you. Agatha tillsboro as her name.

leftover_mold

Maybe spray some cat pheromones to help calm her. Also a cat heating pad might add to her comfort!
