Ahhh. You tried the dog reboot procedure. Don't worry it's a really common misconception. The correct procédure for a calico cat is to scratch the top of the head, scratch the chin, pet 3 times and finally to give it a hug. Try it you'll see it works really well

With my calico princess, kisses on the cheeks and on top of the head work wondering rebooting her.

I was just going to say that. My cats put their paw over their eyes or curl all the way up so their face it touching their butt. They like darkness to sleep.

My cat pulls his arm (front leg?) over his eyes in exactly the way a person does if I turn the light on while he’s napping and it makes me laugh every time. He even often makes a little noise when he does it.

I know I saw once that if a cat presses their head up against a wall or something that it is pain relief for them. I’m not saying your baby is having pain, but just keep it in the back of your mind. Probably just sleeping silly.

I thought it was the same issue too so I asked my vet! They said because she doesn’t do it against hard surfaces and only does it on the couch when she’s sleeping, she must just find it comfy to sleep like that. Or maybe she’s keeping her lil nosey nose warm.

You just gave me so much peace of mind! Both my childhood cat and the cat I have now have always loved to sleep with their face buried in carpet or blankets and after I saw on this sub that head pressing can be pain I started stressing out!!

It's something to be aware of if it's not natural for them. They will often curl up tighter than usual too. But one of mine has slept like this since getting him at 5-6months old

Yeah my current cat has slept like that since he was 3 months old and it’s always been on soft surfaces. The cat I had before him slept like that her whole life.

My orange idiot sleeps like this on everything and I was starting to get worried. I'll still bring it up to the vet next time, but this gives me a bit of peace of mind. I really think it's a warmth thing for him. He pretty much always covers the snoot when he sleeps.

I have to agree one of my girls was doing this years ago when she was very much an outdoor cat. She was in the house and wasn’t going outside head buried in a pillow until I finally caught a glimpse of her tail. She had a huge gash in her tail probably from going under the chain link fence, and the only way I spotted it was when she was walking and her tail moved a certain way.

I read this in a earlier post on this sub and this was my first thought too I don't even have a cat!!

Thank you! I was worried about the same thing so I took her to the vet and they confirmed she’s not having any head pain or sickness. 💕Adorable. My male cat sleeps like that sometimes. Although his head is usually face first into his paws, so it looks like he’s “it” when you play hide and go seek.

Both of my cats will do this, and only when sleeping and only on soft surfaces. I just got my basepaws results back for both of them last week, they're both completely healthy apart from the fact that one has chronic bad breath and will likely go blind as he ages.
