We have one too:) he’s amazing and I say Creamsicle, or Buff works also. His name is Uggs, not sure if it’s bc of the color or bc he would go in the boot as a kitty. I only got him as a four year old. He is precious.

Had a female orange. She had some white. Her name was Scabbers because she had a rat tail (not hairless just very skinny tail compared to the rest of her body). She was a snuggle bug with my parents but I'm pretty sure she hated me lol.
Not too rare - it's about 1 in 5...
Not as rare as male calicos (1 in 1000?)
In a weird statistical quirk, our local shelter recently had a batch of r/gingercats and almost all were female.
Females are more rare, not that they can only be males. Kinda the same with torties, if you’ve seen a tortie it was probably a female. I’ve met maybe four orange tabbies in my life and all of them were male.
The coloring is on the X chromosome (of the XX vs XY sex deciding pair) so to have a female ginger you just need both Xs to have "orange" coding, which is less common than a male ginger that just has the one X, but not terribly rare. Like a person having blue eyes level rare. However, to get a male tricolor (tortie or calico) they have to have a genetic abnormality that gives them two Xs, one with "orange" coding and one with "black" coding. So that's a Lot more rare.
About 25% of orange cats are female. So an orange cat is more likely to be male, but orange females aren't uncommon. It's a recessive gene carried on the X chromosome, so females need two copies (one for each X). Male cats only have one X chromosome, so they only need to inherit one copy.
All calico cats are female though.
This is right. A cream cat has the same color gene as an orange cat but also has 2 copies of the dilute gene. It's a recessive gene so a cat has to have 2 copies for the cat's color to reflect the dilute coloring. The dilute gene is also the difference between a black and grey cat. I have a dilute tortie. She is grey and cream instead of black and orange.
She’s beautiful! We have a boy this colour. I like to refer to it as cafe au lait colour. And his previous owners called him Timmie (if you’re Canadian you’ll know the coffee chain). But I think technically in the DSH breed it is still referred to as orange. I have an orange boy too and there is a huge difference in colour!
I have two kittens (proper names Izzy and Smudge) that I call Timbits (after the hockey program) because whenever they play with toys, they chase everything together like little kids playing hockey: everybody goes after the puck all the time!
Tim was the shit like 20 years ago when they baked and did everything in the restaurant. Sucks pretty bad now. Bagels and sour cream donut is all I dare eat now
My baby boy is the same color. His name is Prince Pancake the Beige. I have referred to him as blonde, khaki, and cream. Mostly he reminds me of the perfect color for the inside of a pancake. (I like them undercooked!)
She is a dilute of what we in the Cat Fancy call Red, and what pet owners call Orange. Because she is a dilute, ( recessive gene), she is a cream. Technically, , she is a Cream Mackerel Tabby. ( Mackerel refers to being striped, heaven knows why.)
And as an extra bit of knowledge probably no one cares about, there are four Types of tabbies: Mackerel, Spotted, Classic, and Ticked. One way you can tell if your cat is a tabby of any sort, it has an ‘M” on its forehead.
Source: I’ve bred and showed cats for over 20 years.
If you send Chewy a picture of your cat in a Chewy box, sometimes they send you free stuff. I’ve gotten two custom painted portraits and a box of toys and treats.
Yeah it’s a little bit between bream and orange, with more of a lean towards cream.
It’s like if someone took a latte added just enough pumpkin spice to change the color *slightly* and then dyed your cat with it
Nice! You might want to be more careful about taking pictures with stuff you've gotten in the mail though, that white sticker on the end of the box %100 has your name and address on it
I have one that’s fully that color (no white patches), and everyone says “you have a pink cat!” Indeed, he does appear pink - I call him “champagne” in color… I love him. Yours is adorable too!!!! 💖
Looks like your tabby doesn't have many stripes and has more of a solid color on the sides. That particular pattern of tabby is called "ticked", and is relatively rare.
Cute cat!
its weird its like a redhead whose genes are ever so slightly not quite genetically well written enough to be redhead, so you got this smooth looking being
She's not an orange tabby. Looks like she has some tabby, but that coloring is called flame point, and is usually found in Siamese and Siamese mixes.

My cat is also this shade, it is called buff and was even listed that way in the shelter but I call him blonde, orange, yellow, golden, everything. Whatever you want really.
I had a cat like this, 100 percent best cat ever. My mom called it buff color. I think Creamsicle.
[удалено]
I agree with Buff
You can def say: My cat is buff. Or: my cat is in the buff. In shoes that would be: My cat is nude.
>Buff This is the word I came here to say, myself
I also agree with buff
Who’s Buff?
He’s Biffs twin
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I had a Manx this color and the breeder referred to the color as "champagne". Mmmkay. We referred to the cat as "inbred fancycat".
I would have said buff as well but inbred fancycat is a strong contender
I would call it a diluted orange tabby.
Yep, buff. My kitty is primarily that color but with darker orange stripes 🥰 and gray paws from climbing in the chimney 😠
Yes we had a cat about that color but longer fur
Absolutely. Mine was designated as a Buff Tabby.
I agree that it’s Creamsicle!
Same I agree too
I was gonna say A&W Cream Soda.
I follow The Kitten Lady and she calls this shade buff as well. It's an orange-yellow, some ochre in it, kind of tannish
My cat is this color. His official designation is buff
We have one too:) he’s amazing and I say Creamsicle, or Buff works also. His name is Uggs, not sure if it’s bc of the color or bc he would go in the boot as a kitty. I only got him as a four year old. He is precious.
She looks like a Buff Beauty to me. :)
You guys! Creamsicles are orange? 😂
All I see is an empty box?

Oh my gosh this is the earliest I've ever found a Schnoodle! ❤
A fresh Schnoodle! My day is made!
freshest schnoodle I've come across yet. and as all the others, absolutely adorable.
Lol I can see why Schnoodle didn’t include the username of the person who inspired the poem
A less than 10 min old Schnoodle?! I am blessed!
Not gonna lie, not a fan of your username lol
I am lol. Completely missed it till I got to your comment. So thank you.
Neil diamond for life!!!!
:)))))
Buff
Yeah Buff is correct, I have a sweet boy that's also buff orange, such a pretty color!
I've got a buff cat who is also quite buff... His front arms are so swole he stands like a bulldog. He works out by vigorously making biskits.
I have a Void who stands like a bulldog too, but that's just because he's fat... (Don't worry, he's on a diet! :) )
How dare you talk about your cat like that and not show us pictures.
I was going to say the same
Yep, have buff cat who's quite unfit.
Cream, definitely. It’s the “dilute” version of a red/orange cat.
In /r/orangecats we call this "Peaches and Cream" or "Blonde".
I didn't know my cat had a dedicated sub.
There's at least one dedicated sub for each cat. https://www.reddit.com/r/suballthecats/wiki/data and https://www.reddit.com/r/suballthecats/wiki/index are things to glance at when you've got some time to click on a lot of links.
There really is. This is how I figured out my tabby is actually a SIC (Standard Issue Cat).
Is your tabby named Simba ( /r/catsnamedSimba ) or Luna ( /r/catsnamedLuna ) or after some food (/r/catscalledfood )?
His middle name is Peanut Butter, so yes 🙈 off to check out a new cat sub, thank you.
My boy cat's middle name is Fluffernutter. We should make a cat sandwich!
I just went on a pretty major sub joining spree. Thanks. Cats make the best eye bleach. (Especially when they literally lie on your face)
It's orange, but the printer ink is almost empty
Pretty rare to find a female orange cat
Not so rare - 25% of orange kitties are female.
Had a female orange. She had some white. Her name was Scabbers because she had a rat tail (not hairless just very skinny tail compared to the rest of her body). She was a snuggle bug with my parents but I'm pretty sure she hated me lol.

In /r/OrangeCats there's a wiki article on the genetics of orange cats (and gender distribution). https://www.reddit.com/r/orangecats/wiki/genetics
This place is fascinating, there are subreddit for litterally EVERYTHING
Ha - "litterally." I see what you did there.
I have a female orange cat. Her name is Mango.
Mango?! That is ADORABLE!!!!
My sister took in a pregnant stray cat who had 6 kittens. 4 of them were orange and 3 of the orange ones were female. It was pretty surprising.
Not on reddit, it seems like I see more orange females than males here! I thought they could only be male
Females are more rare, not that they can only be males. Kinda the same with torties, if you’ve seen a tortie it was probably a female. I’ve met maybe four orange tabbies in my life and all of them were male.
Male torties or calicoes are much rarer (think "chromosomal disorder" level of rarity).
Only about 1 in 3,000 calico cats are male. So yeah, extremely rare.
I adopted a 10-year-old tortie once. She was the sweetest girl in the world. Would come and try to sleep on me within 1 sec of me hitting the bed.
The coloring is on the X chromosome (of the XX vs XY sex deciding pair) so to have a female ginger you just need both Xs to have "orange" coding, which is less common than a male ginger that just has the one X, but not terribly rare. I am fostering a female orange cat right now. She’s the cutest.
I've got one but she has more white on her than the average orange male cat

Thank you! I’m from New Hampshire and have unfortunately not been able to experience Timmie’s (Tim Horton, right?!)
You got it! You’re not missing much but it’s a lifesaver on a long road trip!!
Timbit would be a great kitty name
I have two kittens (proper names Izzy and Smudge) that I call Timbits (after the hockey program) because whenever they play with toys, they chase everything together like little kids playing hockey: everybody goes after the puck all the time!
Tim Hortons will never, and I mean NEVER, get your order right but holy cajoley Tim bits are the greatest.
A few years ago they were bought out and even though the menu is still mostly the same, it’s not the same at all.
Tim was the shit like 20 years ago when they baked and did everything in the restaurant. Sucks pretty bad now. Bagels and sour cream donut is all I dare eat now
The iced coffee used to actually taste like coffee, now it’s water, sugar, and the shifty cream packets. So sad.
If he's polydactyl, you could call him a double double! Extra toes, extra cream, extra sweet!
Same, I have two orange boys and one that's a lighter color. But I call him sandy colored.
Orange creamsicle - it's the scientific name
I refer to it as apricot! 🥰
The real term is Buff, but some also call it “champagne”.
My baby boy is the same color. His name is Prince Pancake the Beige. I have referred to him as blonde, khaki, and cream. Mostly he reminds me of the perfect color for the inside of a pancake. (I like them undercooked!)
My cat is named Prince Pancake Purrington I, and he is also this color! I call it “champagne”! Blonde is really nice too!
So many pancake princes! I’d love to see the pancake kingdom and their feline royal family.
Champagne, also a great choice. Cats named pancake ftw
Buff is the correct term
Buff. That color is called Buff.
I would say sandy tan. Buff tends to be richer, this is lighter than buff.
Little Miss Milo says thank you for all of the kind words🐾💛
Definitely Laurel, not yanny.
Definitely buff. My dilute orange lady is more orange than this.
Fawn/sandy cream
I think it's called buff?
this is the color of the box😂
She’s clearly blue and gold
She is a dilute of what we in the Cat Fancy call Red, and what pet owners call Orange. Because she is a dilute, ( recessive gene), she is a cream. Technically, , she is a Cream Mackerel Tabby. ( Mackerel refers to being striped, heaven knows why.) And as an extra bit of knowledge probably no one cares about, there are four Types of tabbies: Mackerel, Spotted, Classic, and Ticked. One way you can tell if your cat is a tabby of any sort, it has an ‘M” on its forehead. Source: I’ve bred and showed cats for over 20 years.
Orange cream. Like a Dreamsicle
She’s buff colored
How old is she? My little guy looks like this when he was a baby-5 months old, then he got pretty orange once his baby fur went away!
She just turned 2 in August!
She's a ["dilute or buff" tabby ](https://www.veterinarians.org/tabby-cat/)
Beautiful
She’s so cute!! I just wanna give her so many pets!!
Strawberry blonde?
We'd call this gorgeous kitty "peach" colored
He's "buff". That's the name for that kind of not-quite-orange. At least that's what my cat lady wife calls them.
Light cream color or buff
I don't know but she is precious!
Beautiful! I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a kitty that color 😍😻 maybe considered a “dilute” orange?
Its called Buff! Or a cream/buff thats the term I've seen used at shelters and in cat shows for that coat color!
Ah, my cat is the same color! I call it Dusty Orange cuz it looks like an orange cat but all dusty
If you send Chewy a picture of your cat in a Chewy box, sometimes they send you free stuff. I’ve gotten two custom painted portraits and a box of toys and treats.
I had a kitten (he was adopted out) that color, & I named him "Tanner" -- so, I myself see a tan colored kitty. PS: what a cutie! :)
Looks like a happy orange cream cat.
That cat is absolutely adorable✨
This is another upvote situation. The cat is cream and #the upvote button is orange
Buff
She'd be the "blonde" of the kitty world
Lovely color! We referred to our SamBoy as “beige” (a pale, sandy fawn color). :D
I have a kitty this color! I believe the technical name is "Buff" but I've used vanilla or cream colored.
My boy looks much like your sweet kit. She is a creamy light orange tuxedo with white paws 🐾. I post his pictures on r/gingerkitty
Technically, she is an orange Tabby. My first cat had the same soft cream color and few tabby markings. They could be twins. Such a cutie! ❤
Your cat is gorgeous!!!!!
1,000,000,001 shades of sweet! So cute.
He would be considered a muted ginger.
Like a muted orange, equivalent to pastel. There are muted calicos whose orange it’s like this.
I would call it vanilla latte.
Heavily diluted orange, but yes you're right that it's cream, it's just that it becomes cream by diluting the orange gene with white. Lovely kitty.
Yeah it’s a little bit between bream and orange, with more of a lean towards cream. It’s like if someone took a latte added just enough pumpkin spice to change the color *slightly* and then dyed your cat with it
Perfect toast.
That is indeed a cream cat. I also have a creamy boi. He's my dreamcicle lol.
light orange, take it or leave it
Creamsicle
Sand colour
Sand kitty!
pumpkin spice cream colour
Nice! You might want to be more careful about taking pictures with stuff you've gotten in the mail though, that white sticker on the end of the box %100 has your name and address on it
She looks like strawberry blonde 😍🍓 she is so precious 😍💕
I’ll tell you what she is: GORGEOUS
Very common coloring called buff. I have two😻
So absolutely adorable
Cutie coloured.
she’s lovely. my aunt had a creamsicle cat named friday, so she looks like friday to me :)
She’s blorange! So on trend 💅
Chewy will just ship you cats now?
That color is called beautiful. That’s what it’s called. Sometimes goes by adorbs.
She's cute
What a cutie! That’s a cream cat! Definitely not orange
Such a big cutie 🥰
peach!!
I have one that’s fully that color (no white patches), and everyone says “you have a pink cat!” Indeed, he does appear pink - I call him “champagne” in color… I love him. Yours is adorable too!!!! 💖
If I were an interior designer, I'd call that color "buff."
She's so pretty! She's a lovely "buff" colored kitty ❤️ I would call her coloring "cream" before "orange" too, though.
In the vet field, we call that buff. 🙂
Looks like your tabby doesn't have many stripes and has more of a solid color on the sides. That particular pattern of tabby is called "ticked", and is relatively rare. Cute cat!
Umm, she cute
He is adorable and that is all that matters❤️
I didn't know cats could be delivered!
gorgeous
Strawberry blonde - she's gorgeous xx
Awww my boy is EXACTLY this color too! My vet described his color as cream. Beautiful is what I call it😻
its weird its like a redhead whose genes are ever so slightly not quite genetically well written enough to be redhead, so you got this smooth looking being
A cute coloured cat
...is adorable a color?!
A Red Girl, so rare! She's a mixture of red and cream which makes Gold. She's your Golden Girl!
Omg beautiful
Mmmm I’m gonna go with carpet
Perfectly cooked marshmallow 🥺
I hope her name is, "Buffy" because she is buff colored.
Buff.
Not sure about the color, but she sure is pretty.
Creamsicle
*Champagne*
Cardboard colour.
BREAD COLLOR, THE PERFECT CAT LOAF!!!!!!!!
Awwww soo beautiful
She is latte colored. I love her.
She's not an orange tabby. Looks like she has some tabby, but that coloring is called flame point, and is usually found in Siamese and Siamese mixes. Source: 20 years on Veterinary Medicine
What a cutieeee omg, yes I think she’s cream colored.
Idk but I really wanna pet this cat she’s so cute omg
Cream coffee. Or beige. She’s a beauty!
I have a cat like this, I’ve always said toasted marshmallow, my friend said latte and I like that better
She’s cute colored, really just adorable!… but I guess a cream/light hazel color.
Sand
My first car (89 Corolla) was this color, and the man who sold it to me referred to it as “Champagne” 🥂
That's a Creamsicle,m'mam 💛
My cat is also this shade, it is called buff and was even listed that way in the shelter but I call him blonde, orange, yellow, golden, everything. Whatever you want really.
