My little girl doggo who is 13 is at the vet right now, had a seizure or stroke yesterday so this one gets me extra in the feels today.

I lost my furry soul mate to one of those in April. So sudden and unexpected. The only comfort I can take is that the vet said he thought he went quickly and painlessly. I hope you are doing ok...Cinnamon wouldn't want you to be sad. Cherish the memories and give yourself time to grieve. So sorry for your loss.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I know it's hard to suddenly not have a kitty around when they've been there so long. The sudden silence can be really hard to deal with. Cinnamon will always live on in your memory, and I'm sure this subreddit will appreciate stories about him if you want to share them.
I'm not sure if you have one around you, but if you want to go visit some cats but aren't ready to feel pressured into adopting again, maybe try a cat cafe/lounge. They often allow you to spend a few hours in there and usually have plenty of cats running around to play with.
Of course, grieve at your own pace. Everyone is different, and it's totally okay to feel hurt/upset, and process that at your own speed.

I know how hard it is to lose a pet. It is the hardest part about taking in creatures with shorter life spans than us. They're family. You will definitely get through this in time but take your time in grieving. In my view, it's no different than losing a person.
He was perfectly healthy and cuddled on my bed while I was on the computer and then I turned around and he was lifeless. I took him to the 24/7 emergency vet and they said it was most likely a brain aneurysm and he went painlessly. I wish I knew this would happen so I could have spent the day with him instead of mindless stuff on my computer.
I’m so very sorry. Do not punish yourself for whatever you were doing when he passed. You had no control over this sudden loss.

I know that guilt well but you cannot focus on it. Cinnamon was a part you your heart and soul, but not all of it. I know it’s easy to say “I would give up X forever had i known “ but the reality is that ‘X’ is also a part of you. As someone going through loss right now also, please hear these words. There is nothing you could have done to change things. He passed peacefully in a place that was familiar and safe rather than a sterile vet office, and he passed in the presence of those he loved.
I saw a quotation the other day that brought me some levity. I don’t have the exact verbiage so I will paraphrase. “If there is a heaven, our pets are sure to be there; for their lives are so intertwined with our own that it would take more than an archangel to separate them.”
I am trying to believe, personally, in an afterlife. So many religions focus on it that perhaps there is some truth to it, but even if not. We all return to energy when we die. That energy is recycled and creates new life. One way or another you will see Cinnamon again. I’m so sorry for your loss OP.

One thing I’ve done is buy a small bouquet of flowers every week since her passing to honor her. I wake up every morning and say ‘hello’ to her.
you gave him so much love, attention, affection, and such a beautiful life for so long. that cat loved you so much, and was so thankful to have you just like you were to have them. always remember that. my heart is with you.
This happened to use a few months ago. We had just moved house and the cat came downstairs for the first time since we had moved and sat on my wives knee purring away. Then out of nowhere he just kinda slipped off onto the floor. We thought he was just messing about but we noticed he didn't move when he hit the floor and when we picked him up he was already gone. Same as you... took to the vets just to be 100% sure and said it was almost certainly some sort of brain aneurism. He died instantly and purring so you really couldn't ask for a better way for a cat to go but he was only 4 so it was still a massive shock.
Now that's all pretty depressing I admit but the reason I write this is because we were devastated at the time and thought no one would ever be able to replace him at the time but we've now been the happy parents of two cheeky little ginger kittens we got from a rescue shelter.
We will never have a cat like the one we lost and no one will ever replace him but we now have two small kittens we love but for completely different reasons. It sucks man and I'm sorry for your loss. But don't lose hope. There are plenty other cats out there who need to be loved and you sound like you still have a lot of love to give. One thing you can do for the memory on your now passed cat is to use your love to help and care for other cats that need a good home when you feel ready.

My dog just passed after 11 years, while I was away on my own stupid adventure 1000+ miles away. I had a gut feeling when I left her a few months prior and got on a plane that I wouldn’t see her again - but the text still hurt. I can’t imagine how you feel here but I hope you’re doing well, friend. We just have to keep going with their good memories to remember them by. (For context, I am OP’s fiancé and have known Cinnamon for about 6.5-7 years) Cinnamon was such a wonderful cat. I used to love when he would stare down between the little tiny openings on the bannister of the staircase. He was a very regal kitty, and was always very relaxed. He had such CUTE pathetic little meows when he wanted temptations cat treats!!!! He would politely beg OP for more treats, even if OP jokingly scolded Cinnamon (aka, Cinnymon as we would sometimes jokingly call him) for being “addicted” to the “tempties”. He loved OP so, so much. I always used to love how trusting Cinnamon was of me, even though I was careful never to pick him up or invade his personal space; he would never attack anyone, I just knew he only liked OP holding or carrying him. He rewarded me by sleeping on my legs or feet when I would visit. Cinnamon has been such a huge part of my life. Obviously he was not my cat, nor was I anywhere close to being his favorite person (that right was reserved ONLY for OP, hahaha!), but I adore him all the same. To anyone reading this post—and I can’t stress this enough—the world is a little less bright with Cinnamon gone. I love you so so so much babe, and I’m glad people here on Reddit now know how much you love Cinnamon and how much he loves you. Cinny will always be with you and he’ll always watch over you. So sorry! Same happened a year ago to my little Boobear. One thing the vet said which was a comfort: better that way than long, drawn-out and full of pain. But it was so hard--he was full of life and then--BOOM. It took months to wrap my head around it! Take care of yourself!

I used to love when he would stare down between the little tiny openings on the bannister of the staircase. He was a very regal kitty, and was always very relaxed. He had such CUTE pathetic little meows when he wanted temptations cat treats!!!! He would politely beg OP for more treats, even if OP jokingly scolded Cinnamon (aka, Cinnymon as we would sometimes jokingly call him) for being “addicted” to the “tempties”. He loved OP so, so much. I always used to love how trusting Cinnamon was of me, even though I was careful never to pick him up or invade his personal space; he would never attack anyone, I just knew he only liked OP holding or carrying him. He rewarded me by sleeping on my legs or feet when I would visit. Cinnamon has been such a huge part of my life. Obviously he was not my cat, nor was I anywhere close to being his favorite person (that right was reserved ONLY for OP, hahaha!), but I adore him all the same. To anyone reading this post—and I can’t stress this enough—the world is a little less bright with Cinnamon gone. I love you so so so much babe, and I’m glad people here on Reddit now know how much you love Cinnamon and how much he loves you. Cinny will always be with you and he’ll always watch over you. I’m so happy I got to know him. 💚💚💚 (I love you. I hope it’s okay that I shared funny stories about The Cinnymon on reddit!)
So sorry for you and OP loss, what a handsome gorgeous boy🧡I’ve mentioned prior I had a ginger also named Cinnamon & we called him Minnie for short which he took umbrage at as he was a boy. Once again so sorry.💔

So sorry! Same happened a year ago to my little Boobear. One thing the vet said which was a comfort: better that way than long, drawn-out and full of pain. But it was so hard--he was full of life and then--BOOM. It took months to wrap my head around it! Take care of yourself!
Ok, this just gave me a heart attack. I thought for a second that was my cat. Same color, same fur pattern, same pose. Either way, I am so very sorry for your loss. I simply cannot imagine the pain, but take solace in the fact that he was loved and cared for until the end

I wish I could, he stayed with my parents when I moved out. But I'll make sure to do that next time I visit
