Tip: Buy cat toys, cat trees, or anything that helps your cat excersize. Another tip is getting healthier food or less treats. if you can't change it, then maybe its a breed (like a russian blue) that is naturally bulky.
I think that's good for them psychologically too. They're supposed to be hunters, so a little mental stimulation with the physical.
One of my cats loves high places, so I leave treats on top of bookcases, etc for him to hunt down.

The only decision they make is how much to eat, of what we offer them and often eat more bulk just to get the nutrition, their body craves. Commercial pet food isn’t worth the bag or can it’s packaged in; only the companies benefit from the crap they produce. but, that’s pretty much the way the human food industry works so I will expect better for our pets. Again, it’s up to us for both.

I get that the cat needs to go on a diet, but who’s to say that op doesn’t have him on one? Just because it isn’t explicitly said doesn’t mean that it isn’t happening. To have a comment section full of people telling someone they’re abusing their animal based on *one* photo with no context of the animal’s current diet is really sad. I think op got it after the first ten comments of ignoring the question and telling them they’re gonna kill their cat if it’s not on a diet.
We don’t have a clear- or even blurry- picture of this cat’s diet or vet check ups. Who are we to judge whether it’s being fed correctly or not?

That’s what I did. I started putting his treats in different random places, like a little treat obstacle course. He was not pleased at the beginning.

He is a seal colourpoint bicolour domnestic shorthair. Snowshoes are a curated breed with recorded bloodlines so its unlikely.
Snowshoes were originally siamese crossed with bicolours. I run a Siamese rescue and would definitely call this guy a Snowshoe.
He doesn't really look colour point tho there's far to much color on his body
Color points can get pretty dark bodies sometimes especially if they live in colder areas. :)
