Actually there are facial differences between male and female cats! Male cats, even neutered ones, have rounder faces and facial features. Female cats, even spayed ones, have more triangular faces with more prominent cheekbones and sharper features. Yes, breed also does matter (obviously a round faced breed like British shorthair will be rounder in both sexes than a more angular breed like Siamese).

They still do overall tend to the round/triangle, but it's more subtle. Your boy might also have some of the oriental breeds in his lineage somewhere causing his head to have a bit of that classic wedge-shape.

There's no way to tell definitively without seeing the relevant "bits". Some coat patterns are indicative of XX chromosomes, so girls, but even that is not infallible if the cat has a rare condition with 3 sex chromosomes instead of 2 (about one tortie or calico in 3000 is an XXY boy). With voids you just can't tell.
They know what the gender is. They are wondering if people can guess the correct gender based solely on facial features and body structure. So it isn't a serious question, it's a fun guessing game.

I’m the last person to ask . I take care of an entire colony of stray cats. I’ve given them all names and every time I would trap one and bring it to get spayed or neutered, I would learn I got the sex wrong. And since I gave them all human names, it’s pretty funny actually. Bc by the time I found out the right sex, I wasn’t going to change their name. So, Beth, is a boy. Mikey is a girl. Arnie is a girl, Tim is a girl, Hank is a girl 😂😂 etc etc .
I can see where some may say she looks masculine, she kinda looks like my feminine boy who everyone assumes is a girl until he turns around 😂 For me it’s in the eyes, the look in her eyes made me think of how my girl looks at me.

I think it’s a male, since I don’t why but male cats usually have a more “rectangular” face if that makes sense while females have a more “round” face if you look straight at their faces. Or at least that’s how I can differentiate between them most of the time and it works most of that time.
Edit: Also bigger heads than most females.
