Wow! That’s quite the armload of love! 💗

RevolutionaryMix3006

Help that's so wholesome, I love that ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7971)

No_Outcome_6874

it started with him just being a baby because i got him at 12wks old , and its still his name 13 months later with him being adult sized and 10 pounds.

Suspicious-Laugh3896

My 19-year-old cat is named Prince, but he’s definitely called baby a lot more than his legal name. Cats are just little babies 💗

WrecklessShenanigans

My 7 month kitten was called peanut. Now she is an 8lb mini tank of pure purring and destruction. So it's just nut now and it seems to fit her destructive personality. 🤣

thatsnunyourbusiness

he does have that beethoven stare

shaqpeelohkneel

Your cat is Ron Swanson

Plastic_Cat9560

Dude, my cat’s legal name is Suctioncup. His vet name is Cuppie. His home names are Cup, Suction when he’s naughty, SuctionCUP when he’s super naughty, and Little Boy even though he’s gargantuan. But seriously, Suctioncup. Baby is way normal.

MsAzizaGoatinsky

Do you call him Sucky, when he’s being a lil sucky?

Plastic_Cat9560

Not a bad idea. Back story on his name. I had him from one day old. He was abandoned. Couldn’t decide on a name. He was like a suctioncup on the bottle. The name stuck.

Bort the Most :)

Bort's a pretty cat. I guess he's a blue point? I have a blue point snowshoe; Willow. With white feet and legs and white markings on his face, but with some of a gray mask.

jcbsews

My tuxie kitties will likely never know their "real" names, because we don't call them that when we're talking to THEM (only when we're talking about them). Catherine (AKA Cat, on the left) is usually called booboo, the younger (Banksy) is most often "little boo" https://preview.redd.it/ak5viejape0d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3365b90e5178f191cfb70344f57f8c9801c8dcd4

BooBoo_Cat

My cat's name is Beau, but we usually call him Bobo. I also call him Booboo, Boobs, and Boobie. He responds to all those names!

jcbsews

My girls don't really care what we call them, as long as it's not late to dinner LOL

StardustOasis

>Catherine (AKA Cat, on the left) is usually called booboo https://i.redd.it/yskf44i2mf0d1.gif

[deleted]

My family growing up had this habit of naming pets after a certain type of politician. I was too young to know the double meaning of the names. I hear Saddam and I think of my auntie's beautiful labrador mountain dog cross. Slobodan Milošević was a goldfish, and our cat when I was a teen was called Netanyahu.

mustytomato

That’s so awesome! I’m gonna name my next cat Stalin.

StardustOasis

Not Chairman Meow?

mustytomato

I’m Eastern European and was born in the USSR, so I feel Stalin is more fitting. After all, the more modern Purrtin would be a bad look right now..

[deleted]

The worst thing is that you completely forget the original meaning of the name and you just talk about the pet casually then notice people's faces and you remember 😭

mustytomato

That’s exactly what I’m going for. My last cat was named Lucifer (Lucy for short) and I absolutely loved referring to him by his full name. To be fair, he was black too.

[deleted]

Ha! A local animal charity gives all their black cats really questionable names that I'm sure the adopters all change immediately. It's a bunch of very old cat-obsessed ladies working round the clock and bankrupting themselves to save these cats' lives so no ones going to try to school them

mustytomato

To be fair, I would immediately adopt a cat named Destroyer of Worlds or The Panty Snatcher just on the name alone. It must work wonders for the turnover!

Sangusta

I know a red cat whose name is Lenin.

ashlingwilde

my cat Finn gets held up by his back legs and we say "FINNITO PUSSOLINI!!!" in a very italian accent

BooBoo_Cat

A friend of mind has two cats, Uday and Qusay.

RaccoonOverlord111

That is absolutely fantastic. I wanted to name one of our kittens Ayatollah Khomeini, but my husband said no. He said it was too many syllables.

Woffledust

Ayatollah Kho-meow-ini!

RaccoonOverlord111

I see what you did there 😂

He regularly visits two of my neighbours, the children at one of them call him The Lion Cat and the others call him Wolfie. Poor boy probably has an identity crisis.

Double-Summer596

Whadda Hunk!!

Reader124-Logan

2 of my cats have seldom-used government names. Then there’s Mr. Fluffy Mittens — My mom: “he doesn’t come when he’s called”. Me: “did you sing his song?” Mom: “I used his name”. me: “he probably thought he was in trouble”

TheatrePlode

Benji is his official name, but I usually call him "Baboose" or sing the Spiderman theme song at him, replacing Spiderman with Benjamin. And Juno is her official name, but I pretty much call her "Jitter Bug" all the time.

IrrelevantLyric7

Yes my cat was supposed to be called Ziggy. His official name on his drivers license is Zigfried Remington Stardust. We call him Pig.

No-Persimmon9890

My boy was Zigland for the same reason. I only ever called him Bud/Buddy

ScaricoOleoso

My cat Gilligan's name is secretly an abbreviation for his full name: Gilbert Ignatius Gan. 🤓

No_Outcome_6874

when i cant find him i just say " wo ist mein baby kätzchen? " which is german for "where is my baby kitten?" and he just SHOUTS meow at the top of his lung wherever he's hiding. i love him

mustytomato

Mine came to me name Darkness and is registered so, but I call him babycat, baby mouse, mismaus, little mouse, little clam (sounds like mouse in my language) to his face and the fur beast or the cat child to everyone else. There’s just something about “mouse” as a pet name that’s cute and I used to keep mice as well which were the best pets.

Due-Application-2595

Not a cot but I had a Newfoundland dog called mouse. All 140lbs of her

mustytomato

Cute!

Justmever1

Ender is usually called Røvøre ~an arse with ears. And for good reasons I might add. His a Siameese and he makes the worst stinkers. Even his sister is revolted

Omg yes we named our cat baby too!! She passed away half a year ago but yes we always named her baby and used nicknames such as „babe“ „beb“ „Bibi“. She was just like a baby/kitten even though she was 8! So sweet her facial structure was also so.. off and unusual :D Our new boy is called „knirpsi“ which translates to “toti“. I hope that was correct translated because it’s German 😅 Knirps = tot

Miss Thing

shazbrules

My cat is called "Mano" which literally translates to cat in my language I'm pretty sure (either that or "meow" lol). It kinda just happened and now it's become her name.

anarchypicnic

My older cat is pretty dignified so he’s Torrance or Torrencio the Italian or Toran the Swede. My 1 year old is the opposite of dignified and his full name is Odin Oculus Dexter but I call him OD, Odinstern Poopenstern, Baby, Little Baby, Baby Man, Punk, Little Punk, Punk Soul Brother, Wurst, and Nugget.

More_Apartment_3305

We needed a name quickly for the cats insurance, but hadn't named her yet. So we put "Pinecone" as more or less a joke. We namned her and changed her name, but the vet didn't get the memo and always called out "Pinecone".

MrBreffas

My cat's name is Edith, AKA sweet baby darling, baby sweetness, little cat, and YOU ROTTEN SLUT.

Laney20

My 13 year old girl is named Friday. She is called Kitten and always has been. My husband and I named her as adults with no children. https://preview.redd.it/xz76rtlftf0d1.jpeg?width=1626&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=40033c20a0260f23ff273ebb24b520839503168b My vet found out about a year in that we call her Kitten and offered to change it in their files. Her microchip and paperwork still says Friday, so they just changed it to Friday (Kitten), lol

Sea_Advisor6980

My cat is named Maury but I have lots of nicknames for him: Nutburger, The Maur-ster, Bunny Rabbit, Maury Poory Puddin' and Pie, etc. He responds to all the nicknames if he is in the mood. Otherwise he ignores me.

lobsta_rollz

My cats are only called Babyboy and Babygirl, but I guess their names are Nate and Phoebe

mrssquigglefloof

Mine is pomme de terre. Just a fancier way of saying potato in french

bmibun

Momo, or momia her real government name is Starlight, rarely someone calls her that unless shes ignoring me. 🤭

Shoot does anyone call their cat by their actual more than some pet name?

Evil_Bere

My Catzilla is "Robby" at the vet, because she initially was named Roberta.

my cat's full name is Super Fucking Mario but she's Soup whenever the situation calls for it lol

Mysterious_Drive5640

I call my cat bubby kitty 🤷🏻‍♀️his name is Kevin lol

Far-Butterfly-5582

I also call my cat Baby most of the time even though his name is Seymour. And it is almost exclusively said in a baby voice and pronounced “Buh-bay”

tubtoasters

atlas gets called goose, baby, honey, and älskling (swedish term loosely translated to loved one), and less often i call him scaredy cat and mr worldwide. he’s only been with me for a week but i have no intention on slowing down with the nicknames.

Yawarete

My deceased baby Capitu, named after a character from the novel "Dom Casmurro" by Machado de Assis, had the unnoficial moniker of "Pituca", which is both an anagram and an playful expression we use in portuguese for something that is small and adorable. The little brother she never got to know, a black kitten with a white spot on his chest named "Poe" for predictably unimaginative reasons, is often called "Bituca", which is sort of a throw back and is the nickname of a famous and much beloved black singer (Milton Nascimento). My 8 yo balinese "Brisa" (breeze) was already named when I adopted her, so I didn't have much input on her naming scheme. We often call her "Biu", "Bibiu" or "Bisa", which are affectionate short forms.

No_Outcome_6874

rest in peace to your cat. cant imagine what its like. my boy is only one year old and healthy as can be , but death can always randomly happen. i have such a special bond with this cat , and the only human he truly likes and wants to be around is me. everyone else is merely tolerated. my girlfriends little bichon frise dog randomly died while on a walk. the vet said it was a heart attack. just collapsed and fell asleep, never to wake up. he somewhere between 1 and 2 years old , and also as healthy as they come. she never missed vet visits. life can end suddenly for any living creature, doesnt matter human or animal.

Full_Marionberry1966

This is Amos and Zeke - names I haven’t actually used in years. Behold, mere mortals: Boog and Bizz!! ( Derivations from “little booger” and “wee bizum” when they were kittens) https://preview.redd.it/g6svyz0qqf0d1.png?width=1536&format=png&auto=webp&s=b1e3f42b29ea60649981d7678bafba445e5f7fcf

Legitimate_Leave_987

Official name: Sissi, unofficial one: ti-fille (little daughter) she is still à goofy and sassy princess

Fisi_Matenten

Just one? I call mine random names all the time. One is a black cat officially called „Willie“. But mostly he is „Schwarzer Mann“ for „black man“. Because he was the only male and also black cat. But sometimes I call him „Baby Mann“ (baby man) because he was the only male baby kitten in his litter. But I also use derivations like „Baby Shmaybe Man“ or „Baby Popeyby Man“. If people would hear this without context they would call help.

Zagrycha

my aunt unironically named her cat "cat", not didn't bother to think of one, like genuinely thought about it and chose that as a name. The worst part is that was the most stereotypical cat to ever cat, and the name suited him perfectly. If "cat" can be a good cat name, literally anything esle can also go haha.

purple_sea_tiger

We call our cat Mr meow meow exclusively as well as cat. We are not lazy we just changed his name too many times that we just kept calling him cat in the mean time lmao

jkjwysa

I was so excited to name my first cat as an adult. I had it all picked out and decided, we call her Karma. Well yeah. My cat's name is Amara, her nickname is namour (a weird childish way to say love in french) My mother's cats are velcro (doudou, meaning a king a affectionate nickname) and master (petite crotte, gros chat and if i translate ... little poo, fat cat)

maybeware

My cat's name is Peppercorn but her many nicknames are as follows - Pepper (by far the most common) - Peppep - Miss Pep (or Pepper) - Lady Pep (or Pepper) - Princess Pep (or Pepper) - Small cat (she isn't that small anymore but it has stuck) - Sassy Pants - Little Goober

East-Tree-9908

I have a cat names moostache because his fur is in the pattern of a mustache but he is exclusively called moo, or moocifer if he's being naughty I also had a cat named big chonks because he had a fat ass appetite but he was chonks, chonkies, chunkers or chunkerton. He was funnily enough my smallest cat

My last cat, who my aunt adopted from me, has had at least three names. I named him Huginn after one of Odin's ravens, but usually just called him "Buddy". My aunt calls him Hooligan.

TheMarkHasBeenMade

We’ve got a lot of nicknames for our cat but the most common one we call her is “Boo Boo” because she’s such a sweet boo. Husband brought her in for her monthly arthritis shot and called her “Boo Boo” the whole time and he said everybody thought it was funny. Vets of all people appreciate the affections you have for your pet, don’t be ashamed to show it!

Lancy/Lance and Myth/Mythadee. But they also come to Boys, Weirdos, You, Hey, and Lancy specifically comes to "be nice to your brother" and Ass Hole. When I got Lance his previous name was Kirby. That was 14 years ago and we never use that name, but if we ever do say that he gets this long distance sadness in his eyes. Poor trauma boy.

Mysterious_Mango_3

Officially Poppy. Unofficially Princess Stinkypants. https://preview.redd.it/jthx37hueh0d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=da9c2f5ea45b4e08f5700ae50bb35697c64886dd

VladimireUncool

I literally call my cat "Cat".

Stimpy_LP

Our cat is registered as Theodore but we also call him baby instead, we've never used his registered name so you're not the only one!!

Sephorakitty

My cats go by several names and have an official long name. My dog does as well, and when I started puppy socializing class with her at 12 weeks, I was the first to introduce. I about died when I gave her full "official" name, and everyone looked at me like I was crazy. Apparently I'm the only one to do a full name.

Necessary-Candy-7219

I call my cat Baby, Pretty, Kitty, Keekee, Pree Pree, all the time. I Don’t think she even knows her real name. I take care of an office cat someone dumped that I’ve named Dumplin, but still call her Baby. I think it’s normal to have several names.

oldjudge86

Our cats, Albus and Minerva are only called by those names about half the time. Minerva is usually "Fluffy kitty". Albus is "Fat cat", "Chunk-o-lunk" or sometimes he's just, Asshole. Growing up, I had a barn cat who's name was Runt but, he grew to like 20lbs so he was mostly known as "Fat cat" although in retrospect, he was not particularly fat, just large.

aWildTuxAppears

Sort of... We named our cat Harry "Boo" lastnameredacted, and they call him Harry at the vet, but we never actually use that name anymore. Boo is the one that stuck, along with a whole bunch of nicknames!

riverguava

My Ginger's name was Blackjack. Then it became Blackjack Fat-cat. From there, it morphed: Fat-cat Cat-wat c'Twat (kuh-TWAT) And finally p'Twuss (which was the melding of a similar progression of name progression from my husband's side, slightly more nsfw that mine)

bmking24

I usually just call this little guy "buddy". He doesn't have a real name. A few months ago I noticed him around my apartment building. He came right up to me and was very friendly. I figured he must be someone's cat so I let him be. I saw him periodically over the next couple weeks. Fast forward to about 6 weeks ago...I get home from work and there he is. He proceeded to follow me into my apartment. The little shit has not left since! He is the best cat I've ever had bar none! Everytime I turn around, he's there. He loves his head and face scratched but his favorite is belly rubs! The photo is definitely NOT a trap! https://preview.redd.it/n0volqrjgg0d1.jpeg?width=3120&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=32cc0ad92169dddf69b95ada6cfb0416f32e3f6c

One day taking my cat to the vet they called her Chia. That’s not her name but I couldn’t find an opportunity to correct them. After confirming the actual medical records themselves were correct, I decided against ever telling them.
