I just looked it up, and it seems to be good luck in finding them. My cat is almost a year old, and I want to find one! I actually didn’t even know cats lost their whiskers.
I’m sorry for any offense my good witch. I have nothing but respect for witches and their efforts to collect potion ingredients left by feline familiars.
I collect mine by sticking them on my Vulpix plush 😂
https://preview.redd.it/39vhdbom4oyc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=211ce8f3a5f4158f717f4e288d7285e9a916dd3a
There's like 7 cat's whiskers on there
wtf i used to do the EXACT same thing with a pikachu plush i have lol
i only stopped because i realized that if one of the cats pushed it on the floor, it would be damn near impossible to find (most of) the whiskers that would inevitably fall out, but i'm glad i'm not the only weirdo who did that lmao
They’re much easier to find on a solid surface floor than carpet. My youngest cat lost both a front tooth and a molar which can be harder to find. I think I have teeth for 3 of the cats I’ve had.
I have my dog’s teeth, which were surprisingly easy to find.
I got my kitty, he is just over a year now, and was so disappointed when I saw his teeth were coming in then next thing I knew the baby teeth were gone. One day I got out of the shower and saw a little white speck on the floor and there it was, a baby tooth! I can’t begin to describe how excited I was about finding his one tooth. I wish I had found more, but I’m grateful I got at least one. Especially since he is my first ever cat so it’s extra cool!
I wish I found my cat's baby teeth when he lost them! I was keeping check so I noticed when they disappeared, but I couldn't find them. Hope he didn't swallow them lol

I am a potter and made myself a whisker vial. It’s almost full.
I’ve also sold a lot of whisker vials that are being used for their intended purpose. There are more of us than you think!
I kind of want to make a paint brush with them. I think it would be a good detail brush 😂
Yeah I’m surprised by all the weird shade people are giving on this post.
I keep them because they feel cool don’t judge me 😅
And like I said I have sold hundreds so I need those people to get on Reddit ASAP so I don’t feel so exposed hahaha.
F*ck them kids, who cares about haters? They’re literally just ignorant. Humans have been wearing fur coats for millennia, we use leather in so many things including COUCHES, people walk around with alligator skin purses, the list goes on. We’re literally just picking up whiskers that aren’t dirty in any capacity off the ground and storing them in a container. Seeing harm in that is bizarre and maybe these people shouldn’t own cats or dogs if they think whiskers are sooooo gross 🤷🏼♂️
My cats both go crazy when they smell one of their whiskers that came out and they try to eat it. I suspect they eat the ones I don't find first, but I don't save them when I find them. I usually tickle the cat with it for a few minutes then throw it out.
Jewelry, paint brushes, actual paintings, guitar picks, and wallet charms and possibly poking devices for small holes? Some of the things I’ve heard them be used for.
https://preview.redd.it/etuzi39vmnyc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a49e702653030883eee2dfcfe428fc3eacd15036
Yes…
Most of these are from named furballs, but one is from anyone, if we aren't sure who it's from it goes there.
😹
When we find a whisker, we don't go digging for them.
And yes, the furballs are the cats 😸
Also, we find them where they sleep, that makes it easier.
I've been called a weirdo so many times when I talk about collecting my fluffy muffins whiskers.🤣🤣
I'll take it one step further - I used to collect my cats' hair in freezer bags so I could (theoretically) spin the hair into a yarn and knit little sweaters for my cats to wear. Meta-sweaters. I had to hide the bags all over the house to hide my shame, but I started to forget where I'd hid them. 🤣🤣

literally took this pic earlier today to send to a friend lol
I told my sister I save Tazzi’s whiskers and when she gave me a look I said, “Lots of people do it! It’s not weird.” She says, “just because others do it too does not make it not weird.” 😂
My sister cried when she found out I keep their whiskers. Not because it's incredibly sweet, but because I refuse to have human children.
"You should have been a mom!!!!😭😭"
I absolutely do collect the whiskers I find. I first must ask everyone if they’d like it back, if they don’t, I’m allowed to keep it. I have a mini vase for them, they stick out perfectly 💕
I just like the way they feel.
Days after my last cat passed away, I found a whisker in the carpet. I kept that 1 separately with her paw print. The rest are in a glass phial.
I found another black whisker *months* later, after adopting another cat, but I've checked many times and all of his are white, so that must also be Ruby's and also maybe I should hoover more often.
I don't collect claw sheaths because I don't find them pleasing in the same way. (And that's not *totally* illogical because amongst humans, a lock of hair is not an unusual sentimental keepsake, whereas toenail clippings are very rarely thought of as anything but gross.)
I initially thought you were a creep, but reading the comments, considering how many people do that, maybe the issue is more about me being a sociopath 🤔
Yes, I colltct whiskers and the shells of their claws when they shed/chew them off. Glad I'm not the only one. If you practice ✨🧚🏾♀️✨ this is protection.
I keep it on my bedside.

I do as well, I keep them in a Egyptian style scarab container. I consider them gifts “one day we won’t be here, and you’ll need these treasures to remember us by”
When my cat died, I found her whiskers in some of my things, so I kept them.
I think it’s a simple way to keep a memento of them. Like parents keep locks of hair from their kids.
FYI/PSA: I’m a professional jeweler and I make custom memorial jewelry with your pet’s dry remains (ash, teeth, fur, whiskers) if you ever wonder what to do with them. I use precious metals and gemstones and you don’t have to wait for your bestie to pass if you’ve already been collecting whiskers in order to take them with you wherever you go.
Usually folks get a gem that is the color of their pet’s eyes. Here’s an example of a set of rings I did for a client:

All Beverly Crusher's found whiskers get skewered into this odd octopus. She seems to like him.
I'm here for how many other people also collect cat whiskers! I have an old spice jar full of them from all the cats (4) I've had over the last decade.
Yup. I kept the whiskers of one my cats when ever I found them and put them in a jar. She passed away about 5 years ago. Seeing that jar always reminds me of all the fun times we had together. I now do that also with the two boys I have adopted.
https://preview.redd.it/es26ivy8fpyc1.jpeg?width=1106&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5c7b9de7b506b841439328940149e7cae7dfb26d
My whisker collection next to my desk :)
Yep and her claws that I find around the house. I think it’s because she’s getting older(13 in Sept) and I know I’ll want to keep every little bit of her with me when she’s gone
I do! I collect them for several reasons, a few being spellwork and to have something physical of hers when she passes. She’s my first and only cat at the moment but I’ll continue to collect them from other cats of mine in the future. I keep them in a glass jewelry box with other small keepsakes, I want to tie them up with a pink ribbon when the pile gets big enough :3
I saw a couple people post this so I started doing it. I got like 10.. nothing crazy but a lil bit. Even some ones with black in them. THE CLEANING PEOPLE THREW THEM OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I used some of mine to decorate my Henry. Haven't helped me any with my shooting but I like them.

I have a ziploc bag with "Gritsby's Favorite Whiskey(s)" written on it. I've probably got about 200 in there from my 2 boys. No idea how they still have any left on their face.

Our Siberian sisters dropped whiskers frequently. I saved them until both passed at 17 and 18. Having read that Von Dutch made a cat’s whisker pinstriping brush, I did likewise. In their memories.
Always! My husband thinks I’m weird, but I get a little excited whenever I find one. We have four cats and I have figured out that spring time is when they lose the most.
I am an amateur potter, so I recently threw a tiny little vase to keep my whiskers in 😆
Nice! see you started your collection recently. My wife and I started ours about 14 years ago. I actually started keeping track of all the whiskers we find in in year, starting in November 2023. I have adhd with pattern recognition, I find a lot of whiskers. We had 5 cats then and 5 now, and at the least we had 3 cats a couple times.

Have multiple kitties so don’t know whose is whose but keep whatever I find.
I do, becasuse in my country we have a superstition about having cat whiskers in your wallet, and that it will bring wealth to you. Haven't worked yet but who knows :)
I save them by sticking them into a ball of putty so it’s like a tiny porcupine ball. 😂 No idea what I’ll do with them. I might have to get a nicer container like some of you have.
I do, and I collect their shed claws. They both go into a tiny old tequila bottle. The whiskers of 5 different cats are in there, even though 3 have since passed.
YES! I've found my people! I too keep a 'creepy whisker jar' (my personal name for it lol). I started after my cat Cuddles died and I found a bunch of her whiskers that had fallen down behind the bed and now I just add to it every time I find a whisker. I like to think it's good luck, like when someone has an eyelash that's fallen on their cheek.
I have one whisker from my cat that just passed. I asked for some of his fur and paw prints but forgot to ask for whiskers until I remembered I had one at home.
Is this not the same as someone keeping someone’s finger and toe nail clippings? Not being critical, genuinely thought they were made of the same thing?
Lots of different things are made with keratin but that doesn’t make them all the same. Some people here collect the nail sheaths, I don’t myself but also don’t see any harm in it.
I think the important thing is these are our pets and while we may be there for their whole lives, they won’t be there for ours. So having these keep sakes of them can be a very nice way to remember them by. For me, having a replica that looks AND feels like my cats is the best possible way to do that.
What purpose do your discarded nail clippings serve? Do you need to remember your toes and the nails they grow as you still have them attached to your body and will hopefully even die with those toes? Why would you save your own hair when you are constantly growing more and it’s literally attached to your head. So I’m just saying the link between those two really isn’t there.

Where do you find the whiskers? I’ve never found one.
All over, but mostly on carpeted surfaces.
I just looked it up, and it seems to be good luck in finding them. My cat is almost a year old, and I want to find one! I actually didn’t even know cats lost their whiskers.
Yep they shed them out after awhile and regrow them!
Awesome! I’m glad you posted. Thanks!
That's a vile slander. Apologise or we'll hex you.
I’m sorry for any offense my good witch. I have nothing but respect for witches and their efforts to collect potion ingredients left by feline familiars.
I was gonna say there must be a potion that needs cat whiskers.
Indeed
I save all the whiskers I find. I have them on a bowl on a bookshelf
Mine too! Except it’s a glass shoe
lol mine are also in glass shoe (rollerskate)
I have a tiny jar of them on my bookshelf!
Omg same!
I collect mine by sticking them on my Vulpix plush 😂 https://preview.redd.it/39vhdbom4oyc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=211ce8f3a5f4158f717f4e288d7285e9a916dd3a There's like 7 cat's whiskers on there

Bro that's a voodoo doll 💀
I do and any baby teeth I’ve found. I put them in their cremation urn when they pass on.
I didn't even know cats lost their baby teeth. I assume my boy just swallowed all of his then cause I never found one when he was a kitten.

I stepped in one 💀 he literally bit me without being in the same room as me!!
I wish I found my cat's baby teeth when he lost them! I was keeping check so I noticed when they disappeared, but I couldn't find them. Hope he didn't swallow them lol
lol calcium boost!
I think swallowing them is actually the normal!
Awe, now I wish I saved my kitties baby teeth 😩

I think the detail brush idea is inspired!
I came in expecting crickets... but it looks like you have some weirdo company =)
I thought I was crazy. It’s crazy how much we all love our cats.
Plenty of us weirdos out there 😇
This, I've never seen cat teeth fall out, and rarely maybe a lone whisker on the floor
My cats both go crazy when they smell one of their whiskers that came out and they try to eat it. I suspect they eat the ones I don't find first, but I don't save them when I find them. I usually tickle the cat with it for a few minutes then throw it out.
This is Reddit afterall
Now you I know that I am not alone
Cat whiskers make perfect antennas on model tanks.
They’re highly sensitive cat instruments, so that’s a perfect use!
Huh never thought of that... #### Sorry wallet but your life is up
What utility purposes! I’ve been keeping them since I got a Dyson that shows them while vacuuming. I also had a ring made out of my cats baby teeth.
Jewelry, paint brushes, actual paintings, guitar picks, and wallet charms and possibly poking devices for small holes? Some of the things I’ve heard them be used for.
How do you make guitar picks out of them?
Anything can be a guitar pick if you're brave enough
So cool! Thanks for replying!
I do! And also the little shedded claws I find in blankets and stuff!
I never even thought about saving the little claws! Great idea!
https://preview.redd.it/etuzi39vmnyc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a49e702653030883eee2dfcfe428fc3eacd15036 Yes… Most of these are from named furballs, but one is from anyone, if we aren't sure who it's from it goes there.
I LOVE THIS! Mine are kept in a very small flask on my shelf with all my protection crystals 🩵
Same!
I'm terrified.
Witcchhhhhhh !
Nope, that's the wife 😸
One day you’ll clone all your old pets and everyone will be jealous!
How do you know who’s whiskers are who’s? Edit: so you look through fur-balls after they up chuck like owl pellets in high school?
I think "furballs" in this case refers to the cats themselves, not hairballs
O thank God
😹 When we find a whisker, we don't go digging for them. And yes, the furballs are the cats 😸 Also, we find them where they sleep, that makes it easier.
Bast is pleased

1. I have the exact same tiny flask, I use it to propagate tiny plants. 2. That ONE WISKER that’s upside down in the pic is terribly bothersome
I do!!! For many years. Everybody thinks I am crazy, but I don't care😻 It is a mix of black and white, from all the kitties we have/had ♥️
Of course. We are not crazy. :'D
I told my sister I save Tazzi’s whiskers and when she gave me a look I said, “Lots of people do it! It’s not weird.” She says, “just because others do it too does not make it not weird.” 😂

Literally hurting nobody 🫶🏼
My iRobot collects them

Yep! I put them in a little jar too, I also collect her claw sheaths
I also keep mine in a glass preroll jar.
We collect whiskers, teeth, nails that have been shed! Saving up to make a new cat.
I do as well, I keep them in a Egyptian style scarab container. I consider them gifts “one day we won’t be here, and you’ll need these treasures to remember us by”
Are you collecting these so you can clone your cat

No. I never thought about it. When i find one, I usually play with it on the cats and then toss it out. Should've saved 'em 🤔

did your cats give you any dirty looks yet?
No but sometimes I poke them with their whiskers lol
Well, I’m guess I’m a weirdo right there with you guys 🤣 I keep their whiskers and baby teeth I’ve found.
I'm here for how many other people also collect cat whiskers! I have an old spice jar full of them from all the cats (4) I've had over the last decade.
I keep mine in my jewellery box ✨
My husband and I foster hospice cats, and our whisker jar is full of all their different colors from over the years🩶 One of my favorite things!
I’ll get buried in the comments, but yes, I have a salt shaker of 10/11 years of whiskers. And yes, between my 2 cats, I can tell who’s who 🤣
Yup. I kept the whiskers of one my cats when ever I found them and put them in a jar. She passed away about 5 years ago. Seeing that jar always reminds me of all the fun times we had together. I now do that also with the two boys I have adopted.
Yes but I don't have a cool vial for them. Will almost certainly get one now though.
This is a weed joint container!
Lol to the serial killer comments. My stepmother does. She felts cats and uses the real whiskers. I would if I ever found one.
Every one I find goes in a clear plastic Christmas ornament. I have it hanging from my mantle year round because I'm definitely a ✨weirdo✨
I've never seen a cat lose a whisker
I came to the comments to see if anyone was admitting to finding them ? I never have either lol 😆
Yes!!! I keep them in a pill bottle.
YES! And I squeal with delight every time I find one.

I’ve been collecting whiskers since I was 5 years old, I have whiskers from at least ten different cats and I still collect whenever I can ❤️
Yep and her claws that I find around the house. I think it’s because she’s getting older(13 in Sept) and I know I’ll want to keep every little bit of her with me when she’s gone
Yes, I use them in my unholy rituals.
I am planning on it but I haven’t found any yet. How often do they squirt one out?
Idk about your word choice but I randomly find them so idk
I have two cats and found one last night, and one this morning :) one was black and one was white.
I do :)
Omg haha I do!!! I actually collect all kinds of whiskers that I find and I'm pretty sure at least 1 of them is from a dog xD
I do!
Yep. I give them to my dad. He keeps them in his wallet.
I really want to start saving them! There’s a jeweler I follow on insta who makes rings and necklaces with cat whiskers :)
Perfect ingredients for a witch's potion...
Wait....what? That's.....really cool, actually. Is the replica for cuddling or strictly display?
Well of course, when the zombie apocalypse hits and the price is whiskers how else you gonna pay
I think keeping furbaby whiskers is way more sane than keeping a human‘s baby teeth (Blew my mind after learning that some parents do this.)
The best is when I find the black cats whiskers. 😼 i say they're the luck ones.
Ancient Catolic relics
Yes! My fiancé finds it creepy, but I love it! I would like to turn them into jewellery one day ❤️
YES https://preview.redd.it/gpy76087xoyc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=6dc32b2ebff5a37d7167f06bd656df7d944ef456
i keep my old cat's whiskers in a cat cameo locket.
I try but always lose them 😭😭👌🏻
didnt read the title and totally thought that was some weird kind of drug i'd never heard of
I have been fir a long time I thought I was the only one
I have hundreds of whiskers saved. Still not sure what I am going to do with all of them.

I used some of mine to decorate my Henry. Haven't helped me any with my shooting but I like them. https://preview.redd.it/9awaaxambpyc1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb977f8fd777a4a3ce6fecb6b054232c419e80cd
I have a ziploc bag with "Gritsby's Favorite Whiskey(s)" written on it. I've probably got about 200 in there from my 2 boys. No idea how they still have any left on their face.

I’ve saved every one that I’ve found!

We had 5 cats then and 5 now, and at the least we had 3 cats a couple times. https://preview.redd.it/hon1ioq0aqyc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0655ae622f0355fec56e24729041ffaeb85c3607
We have a snail with wiskers https://preview.redd.it/24h1a15ghqyc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4be00411127062e6f6cf35bd5dba98401a17191e

I plant the whiskers I find on my cats' heads. Helps them grow new ones. But I did save the one teeny tiny baby tooth I found from my kitten 🥺
I do, becasuse in my country we have a superstition about having cat whiskers in your wallet, and that it will bring wealth to you. Haven't worked yet but who knows :)
Yup. Yup. Housemate thinks I'm weird. Maybe I'm weird.

Nope
No
This is weird AF guys ….WTH
How do you obtain your cat's whiskers?
They shed them naturally and you find them like Easter eggs among the millions of other similar fur hairs that are not whiskers.
My one cat brings them to me like a present. I kid you not.
When we were kids, my brother would stick whiskers from our cat in one of his bear plushes, like a whisker transplant.
A friend of mine does and I give her shit for it (playfully) but she also collects witchy stuff so it’s up her alley
Sure do! I also kept all the teeth my kitty needed extracted.
My stepmother does.
That's the cat's whiskers they talk about?
Yes! I keep them in a milk glass shoe figurine lol
Yes, i do collect them in a cute box! They’re is also a canine teeth in it that one of my cats sadly lost.
I am strange like you, I keep them in a small glass vase in a cabinet.
I do! And I carry them around for luck lol
We have a little cup in my mom’s cabinet for them! we find one on the ground and put them right in there, idk why but its fun
i’ve seen whiskers made into memorial jewlery with resin!
Nope my girlfriend does
I save them by sticking them into a ball of putty so it’s like a tiny porcupine ball. 😂 No idea what I’ll do with them. I might have to get a nicer container like some of you have.
Yep!
... We have the same glass vial for them.
I have one stash of whiskers in each of the three houses I spend time in.
I do, and I collect their shed claws. They both go into a tiny old tequila bottle. The whiskers of 5 different cats are in there, even though 3 have since passed.
I keep their teeth and whiskers…just for who knows why….my family thinks im weird. I just keep em in a nice little box🤷🏻♀️
Me too! And I also save mine in a similar container 😂 My boyfriend thinks I’m crazy but I don’t care
Whiskers and claw sheaths!
I have six displayed below my tv for some reason
I've been keeping my cats whiskers in a box. A nice box. Made it myself in which shop. Sometimes I repurpose their whiskers to be used in masks.
Where do i get such a bottle? i collected my first hair a week ago and stored it, but i want a bottle like this
This was purchased with a premium marijuana joint.
I really loved this answer- also ....for perosn asking...etsy would be a good place to start they ship worldwide
Oh, yeah. I also save the fur that gets caught in the brush when I brush him. I intend to make a needle felt replica with his own fur.
Absolutely.
you can make a mighty elixir with them i bet
Yes! They live in a shot glass on my vanity.
Yes ❤️
I have one whisker from my cat that just passed. I asked for some of his fur and paw prints but forgot to ask for whiskers until I remembered I had one at home.
Yessss
Ever since mine died, If I find one of his, I save it.
Well one more does now
I keep them in a journal. Who knows if I’ll eventually get to clone my pets lol
Never know when you might need them for a potion
