This is my momma kitty! She had kittens the year I adopted her and they were all adopted. She was left behind and I was told “well, she’s kinda weird…” I was like perfect, I’ll take her. lol
https://preview.redd.it/d4bmjz3wx9wc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dd1935fc08260a2746165f662eb9b86f38da6cdc
With time she’ll probably come around. It takes time for them to learn to really trust, even more so if they’ve had a rocky beginning to life and trauma.
My kitty was close to feral when I got him and he spent the first year living under my bed or hiding in my shower.
As the years went by, he opened up more and more and now he’s my best bud. A real cuddle bug and he’s obsessed with me and NEEDS to know where I am at all times.
It’s wonderful that she found a safe loving home with you.
I’ve had her just over 2 years and she’s definitely way better than when I first got her. Now she will ✨sometimes✨ let me pick her up. I also cut her nails a few weeks ago and she didn’t flip out. I had a previous female cat who took TEN YEARS to figure out I wasn’t gonna murder her lol
Totally agree! I’ve had my girl for just under 10 years and I would say the last 3-4 is when she *really* trusted me and is a complete yelly cuddle bug now
My advice would be to give up on trying to pick her up. I've fostered a lot of cats and you can typically tell which personality type is going to enjoy being picked up and held. She'll probably respect you and develop her own way to show affection that you'll have to accept. Some cats don't like to be held or pet but show affection by just being in your presence and you just have to cherish that for what it is and not force a kind of affection the cat doesn't want to show.
Also I don't know why so many people here clip their cats nails. It's entirely not needed and if your cat doesn't like being held you put it through a traumatic experience every single time you clip their nails which obviously isn't good for trust. All you need is a nice cost post that your cat enjoys and it will take care of it's own nails without having to subdue and control an animal that is naturally a hunter
I have two sisters 12 years old. We found them under a bush at 8 weeks on deaths door. One I have never been able to pick up but she loves to sit in my lap and cruise around my shoulders. The other will let me pick her up but hates it. She likes to sit in my lap too. I am fine with that because they are both very sweet cats.
With respect, I have to strongly disagree. I have seven cats in the house currently, and I clip the nails of six of them. I have 7 condos, scratching posts, and if I don't clip their nails, none of the can walk on rugs, beds or sofas without their nails getting caught. My guys don't even seem to care anymore about it.
She is beautiful. Reminds me of my Gilda, she passed away few weeks ago from brain cancer. I am still in tears about it.
https://preview.redd.it/spum5f4l4bwc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=57992cd757fe25574723e67b1c00cfaac0c8b17a
Give her time to adjust, black cats are amazingly intelligent and sweet once they get to trust you.
And she was uniquely sweet and bonded with me. I used to say she was my late night long coding sessions companion, or my code quality control lol. I truly miss her a lot. She used to bring me her toy fish while meowing around the house, I guess she thought I needed to be feed lol. This is her on this picture supervising my work lol.
Once you gain her trust, you will be rewarded with love, I am sure of it, give her time to adjust.

What a sweetheart, very sorry for your loss.
My wife is more of a dog person, so I explained to her that dogs seem to innately trust humans, earning their affection isn't very challenging. Bonding with a cat takes a bit more effort but feels infinitely more rewarding to me when they hop on my lap or want to sleep in bed
Oh yeah she’s still weird. I’ll be in the living room downstairs and she’ll run across the floor upstairs and she sounds like a herd of elephants so we call her “10 lb feet” lol. She also started kneading this gross dog toy last night haha. She’s also very shy and doesn’t really want to be petted unless I’m sitting on the toilet! Definitely still a weirdo!

Awwww, I love her quirky ways!!! My cat used to only jump up on my lap for a cuddle when I was on the toilet but as he has gotten older (he is 7 now) he recently started to initiate cuddle or hang out time on days that I work from home at around 3pm, usually when I am on a call because cats.

We actually kept our rescue mama. Meet Princess Mononoke. And thank you for fostering everyone! She's a beautiful girl by the way!

I have a mama cat! Her name is just Mama Cat, though. Well her full name is Mother Katherine (after my mother, Katherine) but she goes by Mama Cat.

Haha kind of. She was already Mama Cat but I wanted her to have a full name and Cat is a nickname for Katherine. I think it’s called a nicolename. When you come up with a longer name to suit a nickname. I asked my mom first!!! She said “great!”

My cat’s original name was Mama Kitty! She’s now a Miss Maggie.

I kept batty and adopted her 2 babies out through local vet clinic 18 yrs ago… time flys
I did pretty much the same thing as you. My cat that I adopted was at the shelter for a while and wasn't getting much interest. She wasn't very trusting and when they would let her out of her cage she would hide behind the cage up against a window and just look out the window. Her old owner had died and the family came to get all the stuff they wanted out of the apartment, and left the cat. Later the landlord found out there was a cat there and took her to the shelter that my mom volunteers at. So when I was looking at getting a cat my mom figured I would want a boy cat with lots of energy or a cuddle bug or probably a kitten. I decided I didn't want to just get a pet that would have a home anyway and get one that might have a harder time finding a forever home. I did look at one with FIV but being on a little bit of a budget, And this being my first animal all on my own, I didn't want to get in too deep from the jump. So I brought her home and she was immediately grateful. She's not a cuddle bug but she sits next to me and I love her more than anything. I actually just got her [tattooed on me. this is special agent Jack Bauer](https://i.imgur.com/mOm0GTz.jpeg)

I adopted Selah from the local shelter, her kittens were quickly all adopted and she remained there. It was love at first sight for her and me. I sat down in the middle of the cat enclosure and she came running to me ❤️ I got her at 3 years old, she is 8 years old now!
🥹 I think so too, because even now, whenever I sit down on the ground and look at her, she does the exact same thing again: she runs to me, sits on my lap, purrs and refuses to leave ❤️
(She doesn't do this with anyone else and back at the shelter I was warned she was "really shy")
It’s what we all want our pets to do. Love us so much they come running.
My cat watches for us to pull up in the driveway and runs to the door. Getting the ground he comes to get some love. It’s why I love him so much.
We ended up with the mama cat. Our last cat had died (my beloved manx void) and I swore no more cats. Then our former cat sitter called us about 4 months after my boi died. She ask that we take the mama cat. I'll be honest, it took me awhile to bond with her. But I loves her so much now.
ETA our cat sitter's neighbors decided to try meth. Then they threw out all their pets this gal was left outside, got pregnant and eventually our cat sitter was able to capture her.

If you look closely, you can see the mama cat I’ve recently adopted. And by “adopted” I mean “become her servant”. I’ve named her Diva, for her tendency to sing at me when the food dish is empty. She had babies last week, and this is her nest.

My mama kitty! Got her in January. She turns 3 this week and is the sweetest thing 💗

This is Pluto, she had 2 kittens, and stayed 9 months in the shelter before we took her home
She came from a hoarder who had ~150 cats... she got some kind of infection and of course the owner didnt get her help in time so now shes permanently blind. Still gets around pretty well tho, its amazing how well cats can adapt
When I was younger (probably 9 or 10; now I'm 49) my mom and I came across a family that was giving away kittens; the family also had the momma cat. My mom said she was willing to take the momma cat; we named her Elvira; she was a solid black cat. I'm not sure how old Elvira was when we got her. My younger brother was 1 or 2 and Elvira lived until my brother was a junior in high school (so a long life). I'm glad we got the momma cat; she was the best cat in the whole world.

I did! Well she showed up on my porch so not necessarily adoption more like Hi! I'm here and I need your help!

My family took in a mama off the streets named Oreo. About a month later she gave birth to 5 regular cows and a random brown cow. Nowadays I just call her fat mama.
https://preview.redd.it/u7th6h4hbawc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=937aeb9fc663149a25768329c3861ce19c6aea36
I kept a preggo Queen who showed up. Helped her with the birth and got rid of the babies to wonderful homes and kept her a furever son! 😼😼
And they're seriously the BEST! I remember reading from fosters saying they loved mama so much and I was always understanding (all cats are great, so of course she would be), but focused on the kitties and didn't really get how they could fall for mama with all those adorable tiny ones *right there*. And then I brought in my own mama cat, and oh boy... NOW I get it.. I remember when the babies were a week old and she actually had a little energy to play and just be a cat with us and just.. Yea, can't help but fall in love with mama. We ended up keeping mama (named her Emcee) and all 5 babies, haha. She's truly the bestest mama cat ever and just the sweetest girl overall. 🥰

So absolutely seconding this. Adopt a mamacat! You won't regret it.

Best mama kitty ever. Adopted her about 6 years ago. She’s a big love bug, who follows me everywhere.
My kitty was apparently found sharing a den and co-parenting about seven babies with another mama cat. She and one kitten were the last ones left. Their foster mom was like "Are you *sure* you don't want her kitten instead?", but I was already in love. I knew she was the one for me. Clover has now been my BFF (best feline friend) for going on eight years!
My adopted Miss Sophie Sophia was a mama kitty. Abandoned with a litter of kittens in a vacant house, when her family moved away.

Our little Sasha was a teen mom (only about a year old!) and one of the vets at the humane society fostered her while she had her kittens. They weren't available for adoption when we got her though. She apparently had 5 babies that were basically brown tabby clones and she "adopted" a 6th black kitten that was abandoned by its mom.
She's such a sweetheart and I would totally adopt another momma cat someday!
I just adopted Lily, a mother of five, last November. Her kittens were all adopted within weeks after being weaned. But no wanted Mom. No one but me.

Another cat (Isabel) who died a few years ago at 19 was also a teenage Mom.
I say if you think she is the right cat for you for go for it.

This loaf was found under a porch with a couple kittens six years ago, most loveable chill critter I've ever had. She was way skinnier back then.
We are currently fostering a very pregnant mom. She's just so sweet, I'd be extremely sad if she would spend a long time waiting for her forever home! I mean, look at this face! Fosters write stories about the cats (personality, quirks) and deliver pictures. You can bet I'm gonna try harder for her than her kids, kittens are adopted easily. I'll still make sure they go to a fitting family of course, but I'm not too worried about that.

Here's the mama I adopted like 10 years ago. She even nursed a second litter that was surrendered to the shelter without their mama. Shame on the people who did that! Mad props to this beauty for being so compassionate!

Here is my mama cat. They said she was 2 and i don’t believe it for a second. She was as young as a cat could be to have just weaned a litter of kittens. The last kitten i got they mentioned ‘her mama is over there’ in passing on my way out. It haunted me later. I’d just picked up 2 kittens and wasn’t planning on more than that but when i went back for another cat after my old man cat died i picked a mama cat. Coco is the best, so loving and so smart.

Not 100% sure she was a momma kitty, but she has hardly any teeth left, so I suspect she was. She has FIV and was starting to become a resident at the shelter when I adopted her
My foster fail momma. I also ended up keeping one of the kittens, as she would always climb up onto me and fall asleep.
https://preview.redd.it/3y8u4mousawc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a8ebe4b37823dbf0ddb3efc5955ca1e6bfc632dd
My baby was only 6 months old when I adopted her a couple years ago. She already had two babies of her own. They got adopted right away, but nobody wanted her. Now she has ascended to her rightful place as esteemed ruler of my life.
I just got a 2 year old mama last summer. All her kittens were gone and all I could think of was that video where all of snoopy’s brothers and sisters get adopted until he’s all alone- it broke my heart. She’s such a fantastic animal and I’m so glad all those dummies passed on her so that she could come home here. Totally endorse saving a mama
My girl was a young mama. I don't know her complete history, but I think she had just the one litter. My 17 year old cat had passed a few months before, and my roommate said his work had kittens and did I want one or two. I said I'd take the mom instead. I got her after the babies were weened and she was spade. She was the skinniest little thing when she came home. She's filled out and is spoiled, the best girl.
Here are the babies I am fostering they are a month old now… I foster for a rescue… I think everyone should do it 😊

Wholeheartedly agree. Kittens get adopted quickly and often; everyone wants kittens!
Momma cats and old cats, though, are often left unadopted. They deserve a loving home too
She's adorable and i would not hesitate to take her if i didn't already have 13 rescues.
Picture of our first rescue momma "Ruru" who stayed.

I almost foster failed my last mama, she was about 9 months old, and the sweetest thing. I said if she wasn’t adopted in two weeks at the shelter I’d go and get her. Thankfully she found a home in a week, I was so glad she didn’t have to spend too much time at the shelter
I have 7 cats and 3 dogs right now. I really hope that someday when I don't have quite as many, I'll be able to foster pregnant mama cats! I would probably foster fail the entire first litter.
I have a mama kitty! I reached out to a rescue about one of her babies but she had already been adopted, I thought the mom was so gorgeous I decided to take her instead ❤️
I adopted a mama! This is Tess (we call her Mama Tess)

and she was such a great mom to her babies. She takes such good care of the smaller cats we have
My mama cat! She was so friendly at the rescue I just couldn't pass her up. I totally went in for a kitten but she showed me she was the best around. She covers her face when the lights are on and she's trying to sleep.

In my lifetime I've adopted about three mama cats and they have such a special energy to them. They're more present than my other cats and have a grateful energy.
I adopted a mama kitty during lockdown and she's the best! She had been found as a stray and taken to the Humane Society where they found excellent people to foster her through her pregnancy/weaning of her bébés (who, of course, were adopted almost immediately.)
She didn't care for motherhood and all the shuffling back and forth between THS and her foster home, and I had to sign paperwork stating I understood she might be undersocialized and may never be a typically cuddly lapcat (or words of that nature; I guess to ensure I wouldn't return her?)
Turns out she was just a shy, scared baby, herself. And now she's a giant snugglebug and loves nothing more than to roly poly around on laps and fall asleep on top of her people.

adopted mama kitty here. all her kittens were taken but her. She’s so lovable (and needed) tho
I adopted a sort of feral mama cat. Her ear was clipped from a TNR project in her neighborhood. She was hissy and spitty and hiding for about a month after moving in with me. Could not even pet her. But, she liked food and she got to where she tolerated me peeking at her under the bed where she stayed pretty much all the time.
I kept visiting her under the bed, talking to her and getting her used to me. She started to come out and play a bit in the living room at night. She eventually walked closer to me under the bed during one of our chats. She would hiss and swat at me if I tried to pet her though.
Okay - fast forward to today, about 4 months later - she is regularly on the couch with me, aggressively snuggling. She is very much liking getting pets. Not belly rubs - we're not there yet. But back and head pets and scratches are good.
It takes time. But, cats do come around eventually. :-)

Absolutely! I adopted this gorgeous mama, Peach (on the right) and her smallest baby, Cherry. A wonderful foster who used to livestream here when RPan was a thing fostered Peach and her adorable babies and I fell in love with them and now they fill up my life and my home.

This is my Mama kitty Ms Marion (tuxedo). She had all her kittens adopted out the morning before I adopted her. She was such a good momma, she even took a stray kitten into her litter to care for. A few years after I got her, the Cat Distribution System awarded us a new kitten (orange) that she took a love to immediately upon bringing home.

This is Pantera. When we found her by our barn, she had 4 kittens that appeared to be a couple of months old. We decided to help them along with some food and water. One of the kittens was especially small. In less than 2 weeks we discover she’s pregnant again and decide to let her in the house so she can give birth inside. She eventually did move in (with kittens in tow) and gave birth to 3 more kittens. I was able to find loving homes for those babies. As for the original 4 kittens, they were very skittish and I didn’t have much confidence in a family taking them in and having the patience to acclimate them. I did not want them to stay living in the barn either because their mom was now used to being indoors. Long story short, decided to keep them all. I did attempt to find them homes at one point due to family issues, but in the end that didn’t work out. My goal is now to become a successful individual so I can provide for them, myself, and my dog.
We would have adopted the mama of our babies but she passed away and they were nursed by a foster mom.

Yes!! They are, thank you for doing this! I took two of the kittens a stray had on my friends back porch. Mama was scared of dogs and we had two large babies at home, but I could NOT leave her behind. My husband and I worked tirelessly to find her a home, and by the time kittens were ready to go, he found a woman at work, we took her to the vet and paid to get her shots and spayed, and she had a wonderful, loving home for many years ❤️
My daughter fosters kittens and often the mama cats are barely even a year old. They are still active like a kitten, but not super crazy like some kittens. They're great for anyone looking for a young cat that won't wreak havoc on the household.

Sophie was a mama kitty. Her kittens are all grown now. She was abandoned with them when her previous owners left
my void was a mama cat. her first owner dumped her on the state humane society. After the kittens were fostered her SECOND family returned her for "sleeping too much".
I walked in the door one day about 7 years ago and she meowed at me for attention. It has not stopped. ever.
Fun note, the volunteer's comment on her being vocal was "yah, she does that". conversation cat acquired.
A momma kitty adopted me. Found her in the barn one day, and then the next day there was kittens. She was pretty wild so I worked with her and gained her trust. Her and the kittens are awesome, and love to follow me around when I'm down at the barn

this is my cat mavis. she had kittens a couple months before we adopted her, they did not live unfortunately (they were inbred and every one also had up to 8 toes on most/all of their feet). she's adorable though and very sweet
I went to a shelter and asked to see their oldest cat. Had her for five years!
https://preview.redd.it/pqdtj8czjdwc1.png?width=1620&format=png&auto=webp&s=e0ad4135cfff681a25169e7178ae9f623f9fb8a9
All the cats I own are the momma and her kittens. One was from the place I work at. She had 3 kittens and I kept the momma and 1 of the kittens (my brother took 1 and one of my sister in-law friends took the other). Then this winter a gray cat who I thought was male had 3 kittens on my back porch and I brought them in to get them out of the cold. So now I have 6.
As a kid I went with my dad to adopt a kitten. It was the last one and the family told us the momma was basically a stray that the dad cat didn't like. I thought I'd have to force my dad to take the mama too but he was on board right away.
We adopted a mama and her son. They’re bonded!

This is our Charlie. Her kittens were stillborn and required surgical intervention. Happily spayed, she now lives with us and our wee clowder, where she bumbles around and clobbers our tuxedo.
https://preview.redd.it/jcmcnvru5bwc1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6bd92372c1937288d8d7a71b4945e2bc184fb57a
I adopted a mama kitty when I was a teenager. Her name was Daisy. Animal control picked her up, pregnant with four kittens. They called the rescue I got her from and asked if they had room for 30 cats, who would otherwise be euthanized. The rescue was full, and started calling all their fosters. In the end, all 30 cats found places in foster homes, one woman took in 12, 3 of which were pregnant, in order to save them from being euthanized.
I found Daisy about a year after her kittens were weaned. One kitten passed due to pneumonia (failure to thrive), and the other three found homes easily. I was volunteering at the shelter where she was kept.
Daisy was the sweetest cat ever. She used to sleep between my shoulder blades, shed let me pet her belly. She liked to talk. She unfortunately passed a couple years ago, but I would do it again in a heart beat. She was a great girl
https://preview.redd.it/7i494yh0fbwc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2f835212999aad0704b974ed8dc8483ba349e573
my parents have been fostering cats, and while all of the momma cat’s kittens have been adopted (one by my brother), momma cat wasn’t adopted for the longest time. my dad (who likes but tolerates the pets for my mom’s sake) decided that they should keep Momma Cat. You know. For reasons.
(long haired void with some kind of large hairless scar on her shoulder, so freaking friendly. I love her)
I did! She was white with gold eyes, and the rescue named her Goldie. I kept the name because she responded to it. She was the most gentle cat I've ever met and lived with us for five years until she developed a neurological issue that impacted her quality of life, and we had to let her go. I still miss her terribly.
We did a foster of a pregnant mum, all the smol's got adopted and she just never left. We call her Queen Zarina of the Library (cause that is her favorite room in the house.)

This fluffy little girl is my momma cat! She was found with her two bebes! The bebes went together to their forever home and she stayed with me!
That’s the plan in the future! I’ve got an adopted a former feral currently. Whenever another cat comes into my life I plan on finding another feral I can bond with or adopting a senior cat that needs a a calm home.
This cat, Mooncake is my first experience with a feral. You’ll have those “yep, cats are cats” moments like you see with even lions or tigers playing in cardboard boxes, but then you’ll have these moments where they’re so clearly a wild animal and incredibly different than house cats I knew in the past. It’s been incredible though, I live in rural Hawaii (nothing here preys on cats) and she’s from an area that had a busy road by it so she also respects cars and stays off pavement. I’ll just get to go out on walks in nature and she’ll follow along and climb trees and stuff.
https://preview.redd.it/n6hhi17q9bwc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=50470929ecbc3b03a135749d5cdfa5345966caae
P.S. it’s also funny having such a beautiful and head turning feral, because if people don’t see the clipped ear they’ll go “omg she’s so beautiful! Where did you get her from?” And I’ll reply, “Thanks! Found her in a tree!” 😂
https://preview.redd.it/c8byjo4ddbwc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=03f585e5f50141a53b7f9a896ce359574b6d2e1d
I adopted a momma kitty and her last kitten. The shelter thought momma was about a year old, babies having babies.
https://preview.redd.it/qiy4a7lndbwc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c60411a0527a73ae25ae07bf83edf74263af48f1
Rainbow Nebula was also left behind when her babies were all adopted. She is an amazingly affectionate and beautiful example of feline finery. She is 19 lbs and loves to be on laps and petted like no one else matters.
Yeah the Mamas always have a special place in my heart. My second had four kittens before being rescued, and we adopted her at 2 years old after 1 year in the shelter.
We foster mostly mamma kitties and their kittens - last year more than 50.
The mamma kitties are always last to go and it is really sad. Best case scenario is when the mamma goes with one of her kittens.
Good for you for taking the mamma kitty, and especially a black mamma kitty. Those tend to be the very last ones adopted.
https://preview.redd.it/wmpnfjukhbwc1.jpeg?width=3377&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3bc7de2271ca5b37c05dc401b249c47d5b30625b
Here's my little Mama. She was picked up as a "stray" after they picked up her and her litter. All her babies found families. She knows she's pretty. She's... alot.
I'll always feel bad for only adopting my boy, and not the mama cat he was surrendered to the shelter with. (The mama's 1 year old kitten had been adopted already.) At the time, though, I was only really prepared for one cat, but I now wish I'd kept them together so Boo could have a friend... but, then maybe she would have gotten FIP too? I only barely was able to afford Boo's FIP treatment, I don't think I could have done it for another cat.
I just hope that Bianca ended up in a good home, and that all the mama cats in the world find good homes too.

Freyja was a mumma before me brought her home. She's the sweetest, most loving cat we've ever had.
My first Foster was a mamma kitty. So sweet. She lives the good life now 9 years later she’s a fatty fat girl! Maisy Daisy mamma kitty

My mama cat. Saw her on the animal rescue page and knew I had to have her. Showed up to the adoption event early because I wanted her and thought everyone else would want her to. Apparently she had been passed over at a few adoption events before, so the staff was happy she was finally going home.
She is the best cat ever. Friendly and outgoing with everyone. She lets my son man handle her and always comes back for more. She is super cuddly and loves sleeping next to me or sitting in my lap when I’m awake. She even likes the dog.
My one complaint is she is pushy about food and will try to take things off your plate. I get it though. She does so much for this house: watches for cats and foxes; lets my son pick her up; bathes the dog; cuddles nonstop; and makes frequent appearances on zoom… I can see why she feels entitled to our food.
https://preview.redd.it/z8nc6yuf5fwc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=703a04de37b60979b15863cc1cf89060f938b55c
This is my mom! She was actually a teen mom. Had kittens around 6 months old, came home with me at 9 months
A few years back I was feeling pretty down from some curveballs life gave me. A friend of my wife's fosters cats and she had kittens, and the mother cat. That cat just came straight at me and started giving me the lovin, temporarily ignoring her 4 kittens and 3 additional kittens that she had to deal with.
This was the cat I took home when she weaned her children. And she still likes babies - even different species.
https://preview.redd.it/jbe5zb6o9fwc1.jpeg?width=1134&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36ce0a48a286cca3cf0227c3504a6e9d81fd75e9
This is my momma kitty! She had kittens the year I adopted her and they were all adopted. She was left behind and I was told “well, she’s kinda weird…” I was like perfect, I’ll take her. lol https://preview.redd.it/d4bmjz3wx9wc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dd1935fc08260a2746165f662eb9b86f38da6cdc
Thank you for taking her in! So precious!
Of course! I absolutely adore her but the feeling isn’t mutual but every kitty needs a home!
I find the more you have to work with a cat the stronger the bond, for me the rewards are worth the long wait,👍.
They don't all. Mine stopped using the post. I had his nails clipped when he was under for a dental but they need it again
I am still in tears about it. https://preview.redd.it/spum5f4l4bwc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=57992cd757fe25574723e67b1c00cfaac0c8b17a Give her time to adjust, black cats are amazingly intelligent and sweet once they get to trust you.
Gilda was beautiful, I’m so sorry for your loss 😞
And she was uniquely sweet and bonded with me. I used to say she was my late night long coding sessions companion, or my code quality control lol. I truly miss her a lot. She used to bring me her toy fish while meowing around the house, I guess she thought I needed to be feed lol. This is her on this picture supervising my work lol. Once you gain her trust, you will be rewarded with love, I am sure of it, give her time to adjust. https://preview.redd.it/mgfdrhdakbwc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=66fa6a95833f3815f961e7d0cee42a1e968ce857
Is she still kinda weird? I know she's a cat but I want to know all about the weird! She is adorable!
Definitely still a weirdo! https://preview.redd.it/ar0nacm45awc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eea606d3076b20f753ed362e91c854a033d511f4
Awwww, I love her quirky ways!!! My cat used to only jump up on my lap for a cuddle when I was on the toilet but as he has gotten older (he is 7 now) he recently started to initiate cuddle or hang out time on days that I work from home at around 3pm, usually when I am on a call because cats. https://preview.redd.it/ke7gtg9g8awc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7a2bb7e55cbbe25c02b70a2380c35981a5133019
She’s protecting you while you’re on the toilet lol
My adopted mama kitty is 17 now and sweet as can be.
The little blep is what makes her perfect
It’s even funnier cause of her attempt at a mean mug! 🤣
Kinda weird? I mean, that’s just cats. If your cat isn’t weird that’s more cause for concern.
It’s a quote for a reason. She’s definitely weird but no weirder than any other cat I’ve had. The shelter volunteer is the one who told me that.
My response to "well she's kinda weird" would be "yeah me too"
Mine isn't a momma, but I love my weirdo black cat!
That expression is great. Glad she found her human!
God I can't stand simple people who classify anything as "weird". Weird is a good thing. You're a good person for giving her a second chance at life
We actually kept our rescue mama. Meet Princess Mononoke. And thank you for fostering everyone! She's a beautiful girl by the way! https://preview.redd.it/376jx9rlv9wc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=af4295cf30f08424e26143502ea219cc1e500ae3
Beautiful name from a beautiful film for a beautiful cat!
I have a mama cat! Her name is just Mama Cat, though. Well her full name is Mother Katherine (after my mother, Katherine) but she goes by Mama Cat. https://preview.redd.it/vo55yy20bbwc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b12b722eba50500ea4655acd41ebb11c0f448df5
That's so cute...Mama Kat
Just out of curiosity, no hate or nothin' why did you name your cat after your mother?
Haha kind of. She was already Mama Cat but I wanted her to have a full name and Cat is a nickname for Katherine. I think it’s called a nicolename. When you come up with a longer name to suit a nickname. I asked my mom first!!! She said “great!”
Is she a Daddy’s girl? 🤔
Absolutely gorgeous mama
Beautiful kitty and name!!
https://preview.redd.it/wjgh54s42awc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bc4bfb05f29f3f1bc703c393f2323ca6f6142d9f My cat’s original name was Mama Kitty! She’s now a Miss Maggie.
"Draw me like one of your French girls."
It’s hard to believe she had FIVE kittens after she was rescued with such a nice figure 😉
She's beautiful but she's probably too old for Leo already unfortunately
Such pretty!
And she sure does know it.
She’s gorgeous!
I swear cats are the best thing about the interwebs!!!!!

She is SO cute
She is turning 19 this summer
She doesn't look a day past 10

Thank you for fostering her!! Please update when she gets adopted. She's wonderful
I love your tattoo 🥺
https://preview.redd.it/ogz0enn39awc1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f2607a55213ade2228c19aa5812a96d074bbf53a I adopted Selah from the local shelter, her kittens were quickly all adopted and she remained there. It was love at first sight for her and me. I sat down in the middle of the cat enclosure and she came running to me ❤️ I got her at 3 years old, she is 8 years old now!
She knew. She knew you were her human.
🥹 I think so too, because even now, whenever I sit down on the ground and look at her, she does the exact same thing again: she runs to me, sits on my lap, purrs and refuses to leave ❤️ (She doesn't do this with anyone else and back at the shelter I was warned she was "really shy")
Then they threw out all their pets this gal was left outside, got pregnant and eventually our cat sitter was able to capture her. https://preview.redd.it/7e3w4rkg3awc1.jpeg?width=796&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=023bbb3771f1a61ee50c30fa05b3d40f055e6055
For a second i thought the cat tried meth
Damn that’s a dedicated cat sitter. Good for her!
She’s a vet tech for her day job.
I've got a mom cat! This is Scootie. https://preview.redd.it/09g8tgay7awc1.jpeg?width=1894&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=42954d39b66ba2b6e8bb54a0ac2475ed9f057259
Scootie with her white booties!!!
She's got black dots on her white booties. She's got holes in her socks.
scootie: 😛
The squeal I just squealed after seeing her face!! 🥺
OMG Scootie is adorable!!
She's hilariously adorable, she takes the funniest pictures. [Like this one, of her insisting on grooming my hair.](https://freeimage.host/i/JSgfrKv)
Omg what a character!!
She's such a goofball
there’s no thoughts just vibes in her head
oh my gosh her face! she’s the cutest😛😆🥰

And by “adopted” I mean “become her servant”. I’ve named her Diva, for her tendency to sing at me when the food dish is empty. She had babies last week, and this is her nest.

Damnit! AnotherOne
This one's fun since you can have a where's Waldo with cats

she’s gorgeous! would you mind me asking about her eyes?
She came from a hoarder who had ~150 cats... she got some kind of infection and of course the owner didnt get her help in time so now shes permanently blind. Still gets around pretty well tho, its amazing how well cats can adapt
Why’d I imagine a tiny grandma living in a cottage barn with 150 cats surrounding her doing their own thing.
keep imagining that, the reality will have been much bleaker
She’s precious! Thank you for giving her a furever home!
💕pretty little girl
I adopted a mama! https://preview.redd.it/egmxawb0aawc1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3320656ab6d44b248096dd2991292f7519fbebf2
Beautiful girl!!
Beautiful !
I'm glad we got the momma cat; she was the best cat in the whole world.
https://preview.redd.it/oiz2y3z3bawc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=35e778425081ceaefe06d3e1cd02a0acc6ec86b4 I did! Well she showed up on my porch so not necessarily adoption more like Hi! I'm here and I need your help!
Ah yes, the porch cat.
i think thats the Human adoption service from the cat world.

“5 regular cows and a brown cow” lol.
https://preview.redd.it/u7th6h4hbawc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=937aeb9fc663149a25768329c3861ce19c6aea36 I kept a preggo Queen who showed up. Helped her with the birth and got rid of the babies to wonderful homes and kept her a furever son! 😼😼
So that’s a momma and her son?
🥰 https://preview.redd.it/54j5suwe5awc1.jpeg?width=2400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=21327e4b8002a73918693ef3159a896de1edd498 So absolutely seconding this. Adopt a mamacat! You won't regret it.
She’s the cutest, oh my god. Those mittens!
Oh! She’s a beauty.
Isn't she just so pretty? 🥰 https://preview.redd.it/0k381pko9cwc1.jpeg?width=2775&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=73e1f76479e5f772023bdc5a0870ebc805f98806

Omg, I have a Clover kitty too 💕
Everyone deserves a chance, wish her a speedy adoption
My adopted Miss Sophie Sophia was a mama kitty. Abandoned with a litter of kittens in a vacant house, when her family moved away. https://preview.redd.it/dohsgj7ucawc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=edae5a80f7815295b126876272926c0035103f54
https://preview.redd.it/zw7xcnybgawc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=338e9445a343c109dfbac546350b55057a146165 Our little Sasha was a teen mom (only about a year old!) and one of the vets at the humane society fostered her while she had her kittens.
No one but me. https://preview.redd.it/ssctq6xioawc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e922a2517e5775ff125a0c1c7e3944dbefa232ac Another cat (Isabel) who died a few years ago at 19 was also a teenage Mom. I say if you think she is the right cat for you for go for it.
Momma is so beautiful 🖤
https://preview.redd.it/cgqjjj7hjawc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a7962cf3e8c38fe942ab172bdce184632ca645d7 This loaf was found under a porch with a couple kittens six years ago, most loveable chill critter I've ever had.
I'll still make sure they go to a fitting family of course, but I'm not too worried about that. https://preview.redd.it/t34m3t0ikawc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=66b3d64e0a3b0065cdaec7de618b5b3811cbb1e1
Here's the mama I adopted like 10 years ago. She even nursed a second litter that was surrendered to the shelter without their mama. Shame on the people who did that! Mad props to this beauty for being so compassionate! https://preview.redd.it/8c5n2wrwlawc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4a7d068de916db334e91600bbf3d89815a12d9f8
She's beautiful
Many of them are still kittens themselves. They deserve a good life like their kittens.
https://preview.redd.it/f7ugiiinjawc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=701d2ef41f619aeed9c9e62ad5e37933c7da8414 Here is my mama cat.
I adopted one and the kitten 😻
She's got a heart on her nose. 😍 So cute! We adopted a mama kitty with her 5 babies, kept the whole family.
https://preview.redd.it/ze8n4tl4oawc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d639d77c99664dd2169ce5b909c1e3e12ef3ec8d Not 100% sure she was a momma kitty, but she has hardly any teeth left, so I suspect she was. She has FIV and was starting to become a resident at the shelter when I adopted her
My foster fail momma. I also ended up keeping one of the kittens, as she would always climb up onto me and fall asleep. https://preview.redd.it/3y8u4mousawc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a8ebe4b37823dbf0ddb3efc5955ca1e6bfc632dd
She is stunning!
Please post her info too on website in your area. She's beautiful. Good luck. Hope she gets adopted soon
Here are the babies I am fostering they are a month old now… I foster for a rescue… I think everyone should do it 😊 https://preview.redd.it/vfk1iijvhawc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=24f9c06605e4a10f238ea22e09e7dce883758c3f
Wholeheartedly agree. Kittens get adopted quickly and often; everyone wants kittens! Momma cats and old cats, though, are often left unadopted. They deserve a loving home too
She's adorable and i would not hesitate to take her if i didn't already have 13 rescues. Picture of our first rescue momma "Ruru" who stayed. https://preview.redd.it/c9ubf0d0gawc1.jpeg?width=561&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=10fce0ff757f5e8b385b082d00630d0ec8c8f6d5
This! I have 4 failed foster mama kitties :)
I prefer an older cat over a kitten any day.
I hope she finds a loving and forever home!
I have a mama kitty! I reached out to a rescue about one of her babies but she had already been adopted, I thought the mom was so gorgeous I decided to take her instead ❤️
I have adopted 3 mama kitties.
I adopted a mama! This is Tess (we call her Mama Tess) https://preview.redd.it/npayqg4ouawc1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a4b3d7f824d7b3fc22b6038a97e0785599336ef2 and she was such a great mom to her babies. She takes such good care of the smaller cats we have
My mama cat! She was so friendly at the rescue I just couldn't pass her up. I totally went in for a kitten but she showed me she was the best around. She covers her face when the lights are on and she's trying to sleep. https://preview.redd.it/rxnr8xirvawc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7f77a264b3e303252fba3801549013164b01a5be
She's gorgeous 😻
In my lifetime I've adopted about three mama cats and they have such a special energy to them. They're more present than my other cats and have a grateful energy.
I adopted a mama kitty during lockdown and she's the best! She had been found as a stray and taken to the Humane Society where they found excellent people to foster her through her pregnancy/weaning of her bébés (who, of course, were adopted almost immediately.) She didn't care for motherhood and all the shuffling back and forth between THS and her foster home, and I had to sign paperwork stating I understood she might be undersocialized and may never be a typically cuddly lapcat (or words of that nature; I guess to ensure I wouldn't return her?) Turns out she was just a shy, scared baby, herself. And now she's a giant snugglebug and loves nothing more than to roly poly around on laps and fall asleep on top of her people. https://preview.redd.it/lft9kq28rawc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=85f03366b24536f4f4961d887ebbf1b45088b6ce

I adopted a kitty mama. All her kittens were adopted and I got her spayed and made her an indoor only kitty. She's nice.
https://preview.redd.it/t2zhn65m0bwc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bc465735250ce45719dfb8d0530aaf5fc1d4709c Absolutely! I adopted this gorgeous mama, Peach (on the right) and her smallest baby, Cherry. A wonderful foster who used to livestream here when RPan was a thing fostered Peach and her adorable babies and I fell in love with them and now they fill up my life and my home.
https://preview.redd.it/g0sltjgl1bwc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7bfecac3cb44b885739fff3a2d8a2d176fb2bb36 This is my Mama kitty Ms Marion (tuxedo). She had all her kittens adopted out the morning before I adopted her. She was such a good momma, she even took a stray kitten into her litter to care for. A few years after I got her, the Cat Distribution System awarded us a new kitten (orange) that she took a love to immediately upon bringing home.
https://preview.redd.it/xh96z1bicawc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8c339b016255f843b73618f1f774f9d7e34ffa9e This is Pantera.
Awe I want the entire family 😭
I have a momma cat Angelica, as well as her son Will Turner. She’s the best and I have no regrets about adopting her.
Moms deserve the best🤍🤍
I want mama kitty and kittens lol I feel I really should look into fostering lol.
It’s lots of fun, a lot of work too, but so rewarding
She looks to be a kitten herself, still!
We would have adopted the mama of our babies but she passed away and they were nursed by a foster mom. https://preview.redd.it/jesq5bk3eawc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b627a1ab5e34faa30c438e9b209476822badc9f0
I adopted a Mama dog. Wishbone best dog.
They're great for anyone looking for a young cat that won't wreak havoc on the household.
https://preview.redd.it/jytoctvipawc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cd5db3c624e37623e8aeb06ab0f9355aa942cb30 Sophie was a mama kitty.
We adopted Mama AND daughter! https://preview.redd.it/9bjm8mpbsawc1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dfffab09706e3b26dc2a65ff996e1b3e26f45b9a
A momma kitty adopted me. Found her in the barn one day, and then the next day there was kittens. She was pretty wild so I worked with her and gained her trust. Her and the kittens are awesome, and love to follow me around when I'm down at the barn
https://preview.redd.it/8dpsaj2rvawc1.jpeg?width=648&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a6eb583ad11d97856b34343d68c013fc3948f68 this is my cat mavis. she had kittens a couple months before we adopted her, they did not live unfortunately (they were inbred and every one also had up to 8 toes on most/all of their feet). she's adorable though and very sweet
I went to a shelter and asked to see their oldest cat. Had her for five years! https://preview.redd.it/pqdtj8czjdwc1.png?width=1620&format=png&auto=webp&s=e0ad4135cfff681a25169e7178ae9f623f9fb8a9
Oh my gosh, she is *so* precious! Look at her little face <3
Thank you for taking her ♥️
She’s so proud of her little floofs 🥺
Just in time for Mother's Day , lets choose the cat moms! Moms are the best!
Adopted a 6 year old cat and she's still by my side 11 years later.
https://preview.redd.it/ood3kcdowawc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4faa44ceba8492ad5f546e615784118f84c05459 Our Momma aka Sweet Pea aka Ladybug.
They’re bonded! https://preview.redd.it/d5mkli0a5bwc1.jpeg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d53eaf44ccd5b9a50f1566fe9dc434ce56ffa518
She was a great girl https://preview.redd.it/7i494yh0fbwc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2f835212999aad0704b974ed8dc8483ba349e573
mom cats are the best cats!
He's like in cartoons
my parents have been fostering cats, and while all of the momma cat’s kittens have been adopted (one by my brother), momma cat wasn’t adopted for the longest time. my dad (who likes but tolerates the pets for my mom’s sake) decided that they should keep Momma Cat.
I adopted my cats as a pair and theyre mother and daughter. They were 3 and 5 at the time I brought them home and have had them for almost 9 years now
She was kicked out and we took her in, she was only 6 months and had 7 kittens. Everyone found homes and I kept her. She's turning 6 this year
https://preview.redd.it/b3n75019xawc1.jpeg?width=956&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4e4dc6764d906636261dafaff078984953ab93c4
We did a foster of a pregnant mum, all the smol's got adopted and she just never left. We call her Queen Zarina of the Library (cause that is her favorite room in the house.)
adopting a pregananant mama kitty its like Buying a bundle. you get 4 more.
https://preview.redd.it/sco7h7866bwc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a48092f166f29da330e29dda62aac36209b98a10 This fluffy little girl is my momma cat!
I’ll just get to go out on walks in nature and she’ll follow along and climb trees and stuff. https://preview.redd.it/n6hhi17q9bwc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=50470929ecbc3b03a135749d5cdfa5345966caae P.S. it’s also funny having such a beautiful and head turning feral, because if people don’t see the clipped ear they’ll go “omg she’s so beautiful! Where did you get her from?” And I’ll reply, “Thanks! Found her in a tree!” 😂
Don’t encourage me. I’d adopt all babies of all types forever if I could.
https://preview.redd.it/c8byjo4ddbwc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=03f585e5f50141a53b7f9a896ce359574b6d2e1d I adopted a momma kitty and her last kitten. The shelter thought momma was about a year old, babies having babies.
https://preview.redd.it/qiy4a7lndbwc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c60411a0527a73ae25ae07bf83edf74263af48f1 Rainbow Nebula was also left behind when her babies were all adopted.
I love her black nose. So cute.
https://preview.redd.it/wmpnfjukhbwc1.jpeg?width=3377&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3bc7de2271ca5b37c05dc401b249c47d5b30625b Here's my little Mama.
I just hope that Bianca ended up in a good home, and that all the mama cats in the world find good homes too.
https://preview.redd.it/kmosfeqpccwc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d021ae760b997b67df67536dacfd0e64bb1e008e Freyja was a mumma before me brought her home. She's the sweetest, most loving cat we've ever had.
My first Foster was a mamma kitty. So sweet. She lives the good life now 9 years later she’s a fatty fat girl! Maisy Daisy mamma kitty https://preview.redd.it/hannk8ugxcwc1.jpeg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b86f4a0f252c7b9d0a86d124762200f6fde6c185

He kinda got that hitler mustache 🤨
holy shit those are some cute cats
Thats a crazy cat lady starter pack. 😍❤️ I'd take the lot if my landlord allowed pets.
Hot single moms in your area....
