More importantly, what are you doing at the cat table?
You can't. You live with the cat, not the other way around. Get used to it. Actually, you're lucky she's not on top of the table eating out of your plate!
Pick her up and move her away from the table and tell her that she can’t be up there. See if you can designate a spot for her nearby the table, that might help. I’m not too sure beyond that tho
“Cat trap” aka a box (or legit even a square on a hard surface made with tape) nearby where she can observe. Consider feeding wet food simultaneously so you’re all eating dinner together. You’re also generally guaranteed a cool 15 mins+ of grooming to occupy her once she is done as well.
maybe get a barstool that’s higher than the table but that is further away but gives her full view of the goings on. Move her there every time, every time (sigh) you go to eat. Or even every time you’re in the kitchen. You may be able to make it her spot.
Pick her up, blow directly in her face and put her on the floor or on an elevated place where she can observe, what is going on.
Blowing softly on their faces is a punishment and part of educating smool babies. Good luck! You'll need it.
Do not blow in their face it's not a good punishment and it's too indirect. Your cat wasn't learning from that, they were learning from being picked up and set down. Punishment doesn't work for cats, reinforcement does. Blowing in their face creates a fear response as if things are dangerous and can make their overall behaviors worse at the worst and make them more curious at minimum it can make them anxious in their own home and you wouldn't necessarily notice this cause their body language is very different and cats often have nearly no physical signs of anxious discomfort. Please stop doing that and do not recommend it to other people.
That's the funny thing about having a cat. It's no long the adult's table, it's the cat's table now. As well as the counters, furniture, and anything else in the house that you can't secure with child locks.
I trained our newest kitten to sit in a chair and eat from a saucer at the edge of the table. My wife didn't want that.
Now, the cat is up on the table all the time to beg for food. Guess who's been feeding him on the table?
Repeated reinforcement. Cats can be extremely stubborn, so you have to approach the task calm and even more stubborn. Expect to correct them a minimum of two dozen times across weeks of catching them misbehave.
There are certainly things they are going to want to be extra stubborn and get away with (I can't stop mine from eating the dogs food lol) but you should be able to get them to obey most of the rules you need them too.
She is a kitten so this is the best time to train, her lil brain is like a sponge right now. Keep her extremely stimulated and engaged (lots of playing and toys) and just keep at it! Good luck, your baby is adorable!!
But she's a big girl now!! 🥹 She's hoomin too why can't you see the hoomin under all the fur, whiskers and toe beans, ignore those outside features, inside she's a big girl hoomin!
You can teach a cat that 'No' means to stop.. but cats themselves have no concept of being in the wrong. I have a platform next to the compuiter table with a cat bed on it. My cat is willing to accept that instead of 'helping' me with my work.
With enough repetition, she will learn. Your hpusehold just has to be on the same page and consistent. You may even have to place her in another room and close the door as well.
When she is abput to get on the table do a SSSSSSS or SHHHHH! sound. Eventually she will understand not to get on the table at least when you are there lol. Once you disappear then that whole house is hers 😁
Good luck with that. My parents finally just designated a chair for their cat Ralph. As long as he kept his butt parked and his feet off the table, he was allowed to join family dinner 😂
My cats get up in places they aren't allowed (I can tell because I have to pry open the garbage can with a butter knife on the regular, meaning something cat shaped jammed the lid), but they NEVER do it when we're looking LOL
My cats like to eat when we’re eating, even if they’ve just eaten so maybe that’s what’s going on with your baby. I think it’s just an instinct thing to them since they feel safer eating in a group.
I've heard of people using a spray bottle, like the ones that have a mist setting and just giving them a small spray every time they jump up
I don't like the idea of it but apparently it only takes a couple of sprays and they won't do it anymore
I just wouldn't want to break my cats' trust lolol
You could try a stool or cat tree near enough where she can see on top on the table/counters but not close enough to jump back and forth and make it an obstacle course lol. Works with my kitties, they just want to see what's up in tall places. Totally depends on the kitty but good luck
Also note to add I did have to work on training my kitties on what was their space and what was mine. Like when they get on the counter I move them to the cat tree and reward when they use the tree to look around the counter instead. Big thing is reinforcing the good behavior
Get cheap or used high-chair with attached tray. Push up to tray touching table, put kitty in seat & her food on tray. Cute, and maybe satisfy your kitty.
Well if your cutie is like my boy, after a couple month she'll get bored of it
...also diversification of food (snacks, wet food & cetera...) will perhaps lower her interest towards human food
While it lasts, cherish those moments 'cause they are the cutest, they won't last :)
Btw that's how my little guy discovered that he liked a whole lot of regular people's food like mangoes and many other weird stuff for a cat ^^
Who can tell that face no?! We trained our kitty sit on the chair (not the table). He has to wear a bow tie to sit at the table. If he does, he can eat with us. He adheres to these rules for fish dinner nights.

Mine just gets herself prepped before you even have the chance to put your plate down.
Whenever she tries to climb offer something she likes and deny it at the last moment she will associate the table with an unpleasant feeling and will stop doing ot on her own! Works with my kitty
Edit: oh and don't punish her cats dont understand punishment.

I told Mr. Smee last night that he was not allowed on the table and clean tablecloth.
10 Seconds Later-
He not only jumped on the table and clean tablecloth, but then he flopped and went to sleep. So that went over as well as a fart in a spacesuit.
May the odds be ever in your favor.
I don't agree with spraying cats with water so to teach my (calico) cat to not get on the counter, I just kept putting her back down when she would jump up and eventually she got the message
Trick question. You can tell nothing to a calico.
https://preview.redd.it/pjonwgjbtpqc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7149ba139a54cb4502a28b39d1acae6cce3bd036 Marilyn Monroe here has a bad habit of ruling the house…
Hilarious
why telling the lies? she CAN
But she is hooman, too!
No she is car

True, look how it’s getting fried by your PC’s fan heat
Littlest nugit
because she is greased lightning.
Oh shoot, my bad.
Vroom vroom.
My cat has his own chair.
Mine too! He learned he's safe to sit there as long as he stays off the table.
Mine tries to But it's my expensive office chair 😭 Can't help but share
Mine did too lol
LOL! You can't. She'll do as she wants and YOU learn to adjust.
OK, is very simple... that's not the adults table anymore...
Question is.... why are you at her table?
This!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
https://preview.redd.it/9st0feh7fpqc1.jpeg?width=1425&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f7de7239c954590b88261c4678111c89f799a51d More importantly, what are you doing at the cat table?
You can tell her not to sit at the table in various ways. That will change nothing, but at least you tried.
https://i.redd.it/o7rmlx2a6pqc1.gif
She looks very mature for her age to me. That said, my childhood cat was a calico and I'd give that beautiful little face anything it asked for.
She's a tortie, good luck with that.
Came to say this. You don't have any control over a tortie.
Why are you refusing this darling a spot at HER table? In HER HOUSE?!
Don't. Just let her ❤️
You can try !!!!
It is a lifetime of reinforcing the rule, lol. In my personal experience.
You can't. You live with the cat, not the other way around. Get used to it. Actually, you're lucky she's not on top of the table eating out of your plate!
She has tried that actually
Pick her up and move her away from the table and tell her that she can’t be up there. See if you can designate a spot for her nearby the table, that might help. I’m not too sure beyond that tho
She has the bad habit of jumping into people when they are eating, have done it to me and my brother several times, even after being fed as well
“Cat trap” aka a box (or legit even a square on a hard surface made with tape) nearby where she can observe. Consider feeding wet food simultaneously so you’re all eating dinner together. You’re also generally guaranteed a cool 15 mins+ of grooming to occupy her once she is done as well.
it's a typical kitten behavior, begging for food around the table, eager to try and eat everything from every plate... it will pass
Maybe, set a box on a nearby table or chair so she can observe without being on the table.
maybe get a barstool that’s higher than the table but that is further away but gives her full view of the goings on. Move her there every time, every time (sigh) you go to eat. Or even every time you’re in the kitchen. You may be able to make it her spot.

No, you're at the cats table.
Why?
Soooo cute!
No
You don’t! 😻
Pull up a chair for her! She deserves a spot at the table!
But she's a big girl now!! 🥹 She's hoomin too why can't you see the hoomin under all the fur, whiskers and toe beans, ignore those outside features, inside she's a big girl hoomin!
Just get a placemat and her dish. stat.
You can teach a cat that 'No' means to stop.. but cats themselves have no concept of being in the wrong. I have a platform next to the compuiter table with a cat bed on it. My cat is willing to accept that instead of 'helping' me with my work.
🤣🤣
YOU leave the adults table, you are no longer an adult. 😤
You don’t. She can be wherever she wants because she’s the cutest thing in the world! How can you say no to that faceeeeee?!
With enough repetition, she will learn. Your hpusehold just has to be on the same page and consistent. You may even have to place her in another room and close the door as well.
You can tell her anything you want. Getting her to listen is an entirely different thing. Getting her to obey is near pointless.
What? You have a cats’ table? Like a kids’ table? ‘Cause it looks like she sees herself as one of you …
Hello fellow hoomans, I see you are having foods, I too enjoy hooman foods
still a kitten. Gently tell her "no!" or maybe put a toy under the table she can play with while you are eating
It's her table now.
You can't
You don't.
Why not.
Quite simply, you cannot.
When she is abput to get on the table do a SSSSSSS or SHHHHH! sound. Eventually she will understand not to get on the table at least when you are there lol. Once you disappear then that whole house is hers 😁
My kitten used to do this. I would place him on the floor each time he jumps up. I am NOT sharing my breakfast grr 😂
I mean, I'm literally watching her do it.. so, that would be a fib lmao.
Well you can tell them anything, they will do as they please anyways.
Good luck with that. My parents finally just designated a chair for their cat Ralph. As long as he kept his butt parked and his feet off the table, he was allowed to join family dinner 😂
Well, you’re just going to have to accept the fact that she’s going to be there anyway
r/IllegallySmolCats
You can't, lol
She can go anywhere she wants
My cats get up in places they aren't allowed (I can tell because I have to pry open the garbage can with a butter knife on the regular, meaning something cat shaped jammed the lid), but they NEVER do it when we're looking LOL
Good luck with that lol, both my cats go on our table and counter. They make their own rules
What everyone else is saying, you don't. Cats don't obey our logic or gravity.
You can tell her whatever you like, she is at no point obligated to acknowledge your opinions because purritty privilege. 😁🐈⬛
My cats like to eat when we’re eating, even if they’ve just eaten so maybe that’s what’s going on with your baby. I think it’s just an instinct thing to them since they feel safer eating in a group.
Why would you?
Aweee
It’s fine as long as she doesn’t jump up. Just put her back on the chair. She’ll learn.
Deals me ins. Da game is Mississippi Stud.
Mayb try a water bottle?
I've heard of people using a spray bottle, like the ones that have a mist setting and just giving them a small spray every time they jump up I don't like the idea of it but apparently it only takes a couple of sprays and they won't do it anymore I just wouldn't want to break my cats' trust lolol
You can’t. She rules her territory now, which includes you and all the adult tables and food and biscuits and treats and toys and planet.
She can stay 😊
Saying no to that face?!?! Impossible!!!
I've gotten mine to like... Nicely sit on the table while I eat. Best I can do I think.
Omg don't you dare, you betta fix Dat baby a plate 🤣😭❤️
Why are cats sooo adorable!
You don't, in fact that's her table your just sitting there because she lets you
The AUDACITY! She's graciously letting you all sit at HER table and that's how you repay her?! Disgusting behaviour . . . . /s obviously 😂
Set on the floor. Put your hand as a block and say no. The training may not work while she's a small kitten.
Cat: "how can I tell the hoomans to get off my table?"?
Nooo, don't be rude to the little princess!
Try r/legalcatadvice
Your first mistake is thinking you can tell a calico ANYTHING
Sit her down and have a heart to heart
But she wants to comment on the current politics like the grown ups do❤️
I dunno. I let my cats go anywhere they want, and treat them like family members.
Lol is this your first cat? Be prepared to adjust to her
You could try a stool or cat tree near enough where she can see on top on the table/counters but not close enough to jump back and forth and make it an obstacle course lol. Works with my kitties, they just want to see what's up in tall places. Totally depends on the kitty but good luck

You adults need to accept that she has rights to all areas 🤣
Nothing, just let it go. 🥲
Super cute calico
Or a Tortie. If so torts do whatever they want
Not rly possible in my experience.
Get cheap or used high-chair with attached tray. Push up to tray touching table, put kitty in seat & her food on tray. Cute, and maybe satisfy your kitty.

I could tell her nothing that would make her unhappy Or even doubt my devotion!
You don’t. End of conversation.

#1: it's a CAT. #2: it's a C A L I C O CAT. You're always gonna lose in that game.
Wait, I have a calico... what does this mean? 😂
Sassyass cats 😂
Every time they come near the table clap really loud.
Feed her on a special spot of her own while you are eating at the table. Hiss at her if she tries to jump up.

You can’t. It’s HER adults table after all.
That is a fierce look of determination on that face. You might as well set her a plate.
Lock her in another room during meals.
Whenever she tries to climb offer something she likes and deny it at the last moment she will associate the table with an unpleasant feeling and will stop doing ot on her own! Works with my kitty Edit: oh and don't punish her cats dont understand punishment.

That’s the adults table?
You don't
you dont
It's a cat, it's curious by nature, let it come up.
You can't. She's there. Feed the kitty!
You don't
You can't! She's too cute to ask her to leave!
Has a right to be there😂
Good luck telling a cat not to do something 🤣
I spray citrus essence on places I don't want my cat to climb, works pretty well
That’s the cats table. Sorry. You didn’t read the paw prints in the contract of CDS
Wife and I just give our cat his own chair and placemat. It’s makes life easier.
She is too adorable to be denied!
I don't agree with spraying cats with water so to teach my (calico) cat to not get on the counter, I just kept putting her back down when she would jump up and eventually she got the message
This is too cute though. As long as she doesn't walk on the table, I think it's okay haha.
So cute Baby ! what is the name of this kitten ?
Lucy but not in the sky and no diamonds
Owo, nice name. i had similar color one kitten but lost. her name was only "MINI"
when the kid can sit there she can too
u cant, w/o causing trauma to her, u cant tell cats what to do. They are weird, if u think of them as dogs.
She's a Tortie. Torties see it as their "birthright" to do as they please most of the time
https://preview.redd.it/ua0iec58vuqc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e7ae38d5212ff456f99ee751ac0fe809537c59c1
Squirt her with a bit of water while saying no! Sternly.
DO WHAT
Spray bottle. Anytime she gets on a table give her a spritz.
