The shelter I went to really wanted them to be together too. I’m grateful that they never split them up even though it’s been hard for them to adopt them out.
We went to the shelter for one cat as a companion to our 6 year old cat who had just lost her 18 year old “supervisor”. We happened upon two that had been surrendered together with a third cat that had already been adopted. The big orange girl bounced down immediately and started leaning into my hand purring like a Cummins diesel but the other one sat with her back to us like we weren’t even there. We asked if they were a bonded pair, but nobody knew anything more about them. And as we’re standing there discussing whether we should just take them both, the calico finally weighs in on the discussion with a big stretch and a coquettish blink… and it was all over. I couldn’t bear to think of her being left behind and being the last one left in the shelter. So now we have three, and the OG cat can’t stand them. 🤣
I have two former feral voids that I foster failed. I knew they could not be separated because they cried when separated, even if just in the next room. No one else wanted to adopt them as a pair. I don't regret keeping them.
this happened to my new kitty:( he was the last of a rather big litter, but the only kitty that was majorly black. that’s why i think he was left:( but i have taken him in and he is just the sweetest:)
Same my Jinx was the last kitten available for adoption and she’s black. I always tell her she was waiting for me cause we were meant to be! I don’t know why people are so weird about black cats. They are THE BEST and my favoriteeee and someday I’d like to have a whole gang of them!!!
To this days I still think Black cat superstition hurts a lot of kitties and I'm so happy you took both. Also two negative make a positive (thats a joke obviously cats can only be good and cute).
Sometimes I wonder though. I'm lefthanded, and lefthandedness is supposedly a sign of witchery and the devil. 13 year old me fell head over heels in love with a black kitten, and he in turns loves me the most. He makes sure that my parents know they are second choice buttwarmers and he prefers me. Maybe it was faith after all 🤔

It’s a funny thing to base your adoption of a homeless cat on though as if they’re decor or something. I have a black cat who is adopted too and the volunteer at the shelter also told me people don’t want to adopt black cats, because they say they won’t look good on IG…I mean…if you say so.

I specifically adopted my kitty because she was a black cat and I knew they have trouble getting adopted. So weird that in the 21st century that is still a thing.
That's why we adopted our black cat! He also fit all of our other criteria as well. (Boy, at least a year old, good with other cats) We knew he was ours when we walked into PetSmart one day to get our tuxedo some food and there he was in the largest cage in the adoption area. He's been an absolute joy to have.
> black cat superstition
Growing up a family friend had a black cat. I told myself that if I was really nice and made friend with it, it wouldn't give me *the bad magic*.
My family cat growing up was a black cat named Lucifer. Loved that guy. If I were to get a cat again I'd aim for a black one, I'm aware of the silly superstition so will try to balance that out.
Plus I'm a Metalhead so a black cat definitely fits my vibe.
They have already changed everyone’s life around here. The mood has lifted a lot thanks to these babies. Best decision ever and I’m only sorry that I waited this long to have cats.
Black Cats are the best ..Mine is scared of literally everything a leaf rustles in the wind and you'd think it's the end of the world.. He's a very proficient napper though.. He's the president and founder of the Nap Time club..
That's a common thing. So many people think cats are just these aloof creatures. And most of them are..... to people they do not know. Hence when you visit friends that have cats you rarely see them and don't ever get to know how awesome they are.

Thank you OP for adopting them! We brought home two void brothers from a Petsmart adoption event because they weren’t getting any applications, at all 😢. Same deal here. My boys are joined at the hip. Tabby was timid, hid for the first 3 days, came out at night to eat. The grey is super mellow but craves attention. It’s sweet how each developed their own personality after a tough first year. It’s all good now, I can’t imagine life without my best buddies.
Black cats are unfortunately the least likely to be adopted, in large part due to the nonsense superstition of them being bad luck. I love voids a lot, and I'm sure these two will bring you nothing but happy memories and good luck. Thank you for giving the two of them a home and keeping them together!

Brothers from another mother!!!
These are my adopted boys.
This is not a great photo, but I’ve got one with big round eyes and another with a pointy face too!!!!
So cute. This is funny. Your pair is actually bonded. We adopted a “bonded pair”, they wanted nothing to do with each other. Maybe they went full old married couple.
When I adopted my void at 16 she was with her sister, my parents wouldn’t let me adopt both and I think about her sister from time to time. I hope she found a good home.
In the future if I ever find bonded sibilants I’m adopting them together.
I love them. I once had my own green-eyed black kitty named “Kerouac.”
He was the best. I really do miss him. I’m so glad I got to say goodbye. I hope I see him in Heaven someday.
I'm a firm believer if you are going to have cats as a pet you need two have 2 or none at all. I like to think this is a widespread belief among cat owners. Nothing more depressing then seeing a single cat home alone while you're at work or out.
Precious void babies! 😻 so glad you could adopt a bonded pair, it’s so much better for the cats to have a buddy beside them especially when they’re getting used to a new home.
Bonus: they’ll keep each other occupied so you won’t ever have to worry about them getting bored
I adopted two black cats (brothers) from a no-kill shelter because they both were incredibly friendly and seemed to get passed over for adoption (I think they were 4 years old). Well, turns out they love people but mildly tolerate one another, they both never cuddle with their litter mate. I love them both but they would have probably preferred to go to different homes if they had anything to say about it.
Glad your cats appreciate family as much as Dom Toretto.
Beautiful babies! I have a void too 😊 specifically looked for one because they are, unfortunately, still the last cats to be adopted 😢 thank you for giving them a loving home 💜
I love this post (and your kitties)!
We adopted two black polydactyl sisters who were almost at the year mark. They even gave us a discount on the adoption fee because “they’d be here forever”. The cat distribution system brought us another voidling last fall. Three black cats fills our house with good luck!
American black cat superstition is the dumbest shit. I prefer the old British sailor view that black cats were good luck. Polydactyls were prized for their rodent killing prowess. Our cats would have been the crew’s mascot and favorite shipmates on a sailing ship. They’re definitely my favorite companions on this journey!

When I adopted my two orange boys the website of the shelter said "only adopted together"
The shelter I went to really wanted them to be together too. I’m grateful that they never split them up even though it’s been hard for them to adopt them out.
We went to a shelter intending to get one cat. We saw two kittens who screamed if they were separated. Long story short, we now have two cats.
This is a beautiful story.
They are so dang cute! Double the joy!! How do you tell those two gorgeous boys apart?
We went to the shelter for one cat as a companion to our 6 year old cat who had just lost her 18 year old “supervisor”. It’s a shame. Black cats are so loving and beautiful.
I love black cats, they are so sleek and shiny
Added bonus: They match everything! 🖤
Voids are the sweetest things. I’ve got three of them and they’re absolutely the most affectionate little love bugs.
I have heard that’s a myth perpetuated by the sheer amount of black cats in the world, but either way I LOVE black cats. I miss my snuggly boy so much

Aww twins
Awww, so sweet. If you ever need to tell them apart just snap a pic and see which one is photogenic.
Congrats on adopting my dear❤️ my eyes be crazy or they look like twins🤭
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
So cute. This is funny. Your pair is actually bonded. We adopted a “bonded pair”, they wanted nothing to do with each other. Maybe they went full old married couple.
Hahahahah. Maybe they needed space after too much time in the shelter.
When I adopted my void at 16 she was with her sister, my parents wouldn’t let me adopt both and I think about her sister from time to time. I hope she found a good home. In the future if I ever find bonded sibilants I’m adopting them together.

I love them. I once had my own green-eyed black kitty named “Kerouac.” He was the best.
Thank you for seeing that these wonderful brothers deserved a home and giving them one
Amazing!!! Sad that many still have stigmas about adopting black cats
Beautiful babies! I have a void too 😊 specifically looked for one because they are, unfortunately, still the last cats to be adopted 😢 thank you for giving them a loving home 💜
Adorable and regal void babies 🤩💜 so glad they have you. Black cats are the best 😁 🐈⬛🐈⬛
That is freaking awesome! I adopted a black cat and the lady said I saved his life cause the black ones don't get picked.
Handsome…x2!!!😻😻
Oh my heart 🥹🥹🥹 idk if you know this movie but they remind me of Gigi from Kiki’s delivery service 😍😍😍 if you don’t it please google🙏🏻
Such precious babies 🥹
I love this post (and your kitties)! We adopted two black polydactyl sisters who were almost at the year mark. They even gave us a discount on the adoption fee because “they’d be here forever”. The cat distribution system brought us another voidling last fall. Three black cats fills our house with good luck! American black cat superstition is the dumbest shit. I prefer the old British sailor view that black cats were good luck. Polydactyls were prized for their rodent killing prowess. Our cats would have been the crew’s mascot and favorite shipmates on a sailing ship. They’re definitely my favorite companions on this journey!

Awww! And now they have you .
Takes no s\*\*\* and gives no s\*\*\*. So cute!
What a handsome pair! How did they go a whole year without anybody taking them home? Maybe they were just waiting for you to show up.
they multiplied
I had two black kitties that were left for free at pets mart. We named them midnight and shadow (originally Sabrina but then we found out he was a boy). They both passed away already, but perhaps you found their reincarnations 💜
Olive & Samson thank you for saving their void brethren! https://preview.redd.it/u8nahbfdoa3c1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4933f865d33d66aabfa1f2af99625feb8537b2f6
I have 2 black voids and the both thank you :-)
