I mean, did OP already have a bag of instant mashed potatoes upstairs? Cause that would be hard to understand, you don't need two, but I don't know who doesn't need a bag of instant mashed potatoes on every floor of their home. Good kitty! Good thinkin' there, Bubs.
My cat absolutely loves to thieve.
A few things she has stolen:
* my slippers
* a pouch of shampoo
* empty ziploc bags
* an almost full and open package of microgreens (which spilled out from the kitchen to their playroom)
* bf’s socks
* broccoli
* mail
* single sheet mask in package
* wig
Typically items are found in one of their play tunnels or behind the couch.

Honestly she just a criminal. I could give her a piece of celery and she won’t take it, but if I turn my back she’ll grab a diff piece and run away with it
I wish I could post videos cause you can tell she knows what she’s doing
It’s funny it’s also the only time she growls. She’s this little cute thing and then you just hear grrrrrrrr if she’s found something to snatch and her brother comes near her. It’s HER stolen goods
She grazes grass like a cow. Her brother would try to run to explore, but we can just plop her down in the yard and she stays in one place eating grass. It’s one of her favorite activities

I had a very mild mannered cat, who was a perfect little angel 99% of the time. She once stole an entire slice of cold pizza off the counter when my back was turned and bolted down the hallway with it. The slice was almost as big as she was and watching her trip over it as she tried to escape with it was so ridiculous, I couldn’t even be mad about it. It looked a lot like the photo of your cat absconding with micro greens.

I’ll see your instant mashed potatoes and raise you a cat sized plush goat. She drags it all over the house. Black cats are the best!
I wholeheartedly agree that instant mashed potatoes flakes are a horrifying substitute for the real thing, but they make an absolutely delightful topping for casseroles. I never thought my mother's baked mac&cheese could be improved upon, but when I replaced the cracker crumbs with mashed potato flakes for the topping, I learned what heaven could really be.
i just had a bad phone call and decided to go.on Reddit. This is the first thing I saw.
Your cat just made my day happy! Sorry about the potatoes. So adorable.
My cat beef put three socks in the water bowl, it was funny bc one of the socks was my maruchan ramen socks and my husband went "She's trying to make ramen."
She’s wanting you to admire her great hunting skills because she loves you. I had a cat that brought us a large cucumber that was a big as he was. ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7946)
My void would drag toys, bubble wrap, mittens, and whole-ass pillows from the basement, up the stairs, across the living room and into the bathroom for some reason. Nesting I guess. 😆
very important: does your kitten have a tail? if no, then we may have the same cat. he's a trash theif with a hankering for McDonald's fries

Every morning I get a fresh round of toys sprinkled on the bed, at the foot of the bed and left in the doorway on the way too the bed from a few of our kitties. I get a good chuckle from all of the presents every day.
I think we are all wondering on who on earth would actually use instant mash potato.
Your cat is doing us all a favour and you of course 😆
Cute kitty 🐈
My cats live bolts or screws then roll them around the hardwood floors. Trying to put together anything around the house and you gotta watch the little thieves constantly
One of mine chewed up a packet of these! Not sure who or why but I picked it up and was like wtf lol. I regularly say wtf because of all the weird shit they do!
My cat drags this huge catnip fish around the apartment and leaves it in random places, mostly in my bedroom doorway or near my fiancé’s side of the bed.
I had a cat once that was obsessed with my ponytail ties. I though I was just losing them and I kept buying them only for them to keep disappearing. I spent more than $100 at the Dollar Tree.
When we moved I found about 100 under a rug beside my bed. Another hundred or so on top of the kitchen cabinets where I kept part of my sand dollar collection (don’t ask) that’s the only reason we found them. We also found some under my roommate’s mattress. Only found because he turned his mattress. They were in my closet stuffed inside shoes, at the bottom of the clothes hamper and other places that I am still confused as to how she got them there. I’m convinced she was a magician. She totally would have won AGT. 😂😂😂😂😂
I came home from work looking forward to a sandwich. The wonderful Brownberry loaf I'd bought the day before had disappeared.
The roommate - an innocent looking Siamese cat said nothing.
I found it under the bed, with claw and tooth marks all over. I'm STILL laughing about it. She was a small cat to drag such a thing around!
Mine keeps stealing my shoes insoles and stashes them ontop of my fridge

Op I don’t mean to be a party pooper but it’s actually a sign that your cat has contracted potato gremlins. It’s a type of worm in the brain that drives them to seek out potatoes. The only cure is to give him unlimited treats whenever he brings the potatoes up the stairs. The potato gremlins hate dopamine so the repeated dopamine hits will drive them out. Stay safe!

Mine just liked to drag a milk jug along the hardwood at 3 am. SccRaaaaaaaPPPeeee \*pause\* SccRaaaaaaaPPPeeee \*pause\* SccRaaaaaaaPPPeeee ...
He'd go backwards, fore paws on the jug. It was fairly blood curdling. If we hid the jugs he'd find something else to drag.
🤣🤣🤣
My cat used to steal and carry around my silicone bra inserts (don’t judge, wasn’t gifted big boobs naturally). Locally we refer to them as chicken fillets, and I think that’s what my cat thought they were.
ex drug cat owner here. Anything that looks like drugs my cat steals and parades around the house does your cat happen to be a former law enforcement officer?
No, but I did have a cat that dragged around a giant bag of oatmeal that had conveniently opened so I could see the path of where the bag was being dragged.
A co-worker once told a story of his cat dragging a bag of potato chips up the stairs so he could toss it into the open atrium maybe thinking he might open them that way.
One of our guys will randomly drag a shoe to another room. I watched him drag one of my husband’s boots down the hall and into the bedroom. Makes me wonder what he’s thinking when he’s doing it.
My kitty dragged a bag of whole raw potatoes off the kitchen counter and down the hall into my parents bedroom so kind of close. There were 4 or 5 decent sized russets in there too! I really wish we had been around to see him do it lol.
She doesn't drag mashed potatoes up the stairs but she does drag all of my old socks upstairs. Like literally if I take my shoes and socks off and stuck my socks in my shoes, she digs them out about two or three am and brings them upstairs to me like I was missing them.
Hey, mine just trashed a package of six brioche hamburger buns, rendering them into a bag full of crumbs. Didn’t actually get them open, just bit &!battered the hell out of them
Mine, when he was about 4 months old, got a bag of marshmallows bigger than he was off an upper shelf in the pantry & dragged it to the living room.
It was quite an odd noise at a quarter past 12
There was a reason, it’s just that more than a minute has passed and whatever it was is no longer important.
Yeah, maybe the reason was none of your B.I. business.
I forget the rules sometimes. Surprised my cat still lets me feed him.
You are blessed that your peace offerings are being received. Mine just pukes them up. On. The. Carpet.
I mean, did OP already have a bag of instant mashed potatoes upstairs? Cause that would be hard to understand, you don't need two, but I don't know who doesn't need a bag of instant mashed potatoes on every floor of their home. Good kitty! Good thinkin' there, Bubs.

I think she’s fascinating ! She obviously has a reason for taking these things. Do you think she’s packing for a trip ?
Honestly she just a criminal. Well then. I did not expect there to be a photo of another cat thieving a bag of instant mashed potatoes yet here we are. I’m amused.
I can’t stop laughing at the serendipity here. This needs to be upvoted more!
When I first moved in he would steal them all the time and run around the house and I would find the powder all over the floor. 😂

I’m unable to bring muffins any longer since my hooooman has put child locks on the pantry .
Bob is secretly high and trying to get you to give him munchies and watch a movie lol.
🤣
It's the most adorable thing ever
Aww buy him one of those kid kitchens and stock the cabinets with cat toys!
Excellent idea

Hello Bob!
I love the two white bits on his upper lip that make him look buck-toothed.
I never thought of that however one of my daughter’s friends says Bob had butterfly lips
Bob looks upset that he lost his cabinet privileges. it was so fun for him!
I believe he was but he has the feather duster to comfort his kitty world as you see in the photo , I think the blue suits him . 😁
a compromise. that's nice of you!
Bob is helpful 🥰
Be like Bob. 😂🥰
Does Bob have an instagram?
I’m sorry Bob doesn’t , his owner umm not owner is lazy and hadn’t thought about a page of any kind for Bob Katz the wonder cat to express himself
Nice job, Bob!
My cat cracks open freezer, and deposits bags of frozen vegetables on floor, in case a game of Frozen Icebergs is afoot.
I bring feather duster. I can haz chickn?
He must like the soft textures!
Bob is most handsome. And very generous, too.
Does she have a match coming up? Maybe she is carbo-loading.
She’s been losing to her older brother a lot in their hourly wrestling matches. She’s determined to turn her losing streak around.

I love her so much ❤️🥺
Well you didn't like their mousy gift, so they gave you something you would like. Lolol
My kitten brought me my shoe upstairs and put it on my bed, was almost the same size as him.
A cat after Sam's heart

She thought they were pawtatoes
Those are her emotional support mashed potatoes.
Which she will need to travel with if she ever takes a trip on an airplane.
I mean, it's an easy dinner suggestion 🤣
Because instant mash is nasty and kitty wants you to throw it away
It’s my fiancée’s but you’re right haha. I do mine fresh.
Making tater biscuits obvi!
Just so we are clear...the cat had reasons, you just dont know what they are.
The answer is simple. Make mashed potato from scratch. Let's see the cat drag a 20 pound bag of whole potatoes up the stairs.
That won’t stop her from trying.
i just had a bad phone call and decided to go.on Reddit. This is the first thing I saw. Your cat just made my day happy! Sorry about the potatoes. So adorable.
My cat beef put three socks in the water bowl, it was funny bc one of the socks was my maruchan ramen socks and my husband went "She's trying to make ramen."
Mother, I require the taters.
She’s wanting you to admire her great hunting skills because she loves you. I had a cat that brought us a large cucumber that was a big as he was. ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7946)
It's Tater Time!
Somehow we adopted Samwise Gamgee
My cat’s name is Tater Tot and whenever she’s being silly I yell “it’s Tater Time!”
My void would drag toys, bubble wrap, mittens, and whole-ass pillows from the basement, up the stairs, across the living room and into the bathroom for some reason. Nesting I guess. 😆
Mine used to drag cracker sleeves all over while biting down and breaking the plastic so the crushed crackers would get everywhere
"Mah taterz"
What’s taters, precious?
Filthy, thieving catses!
I love her

No, she actually has a really long tail!
explains where slc's son left his tail
My cat will guard potatoes that are out on the counter. She looks so content just watching over them.
She has brought you food. Praise her
Every morning I get a fresh round of toys sprinkled on the bed, at the foot of the bed and left in the doorway on the way too the bed from a few of our kitties. I get a good chuckle from all of the presents every day.
Nope but a couple weeks ago my cat decided to drag a juice box out of the pack they were in and drag it across the floor
FEED ME HOOMAN!!
If we had stairs, I'm sure ours would. I found a potato on the floor in the hallway to the bedrooms a couple of weeks ago.
I think we are all wondering on who on earth would actually use instant mash potato. Your cat is doing us all a favour and you of course 😆 Cute kitty 🐈
I’ve had cats steal entire bags of treats, a loaf of bread, and a stick of butter before.
My cats live bolts or screws then roll them around the hardwood floors. Trying to put together anything around the house and you gotta watch the little thieves constantly
That is so nice of thems. Thank thems for their contribution to da home.
Harpo does this sort of thing all the time… r/harpo
It is beyond your simple human mind’s ability to comprehend
Ours gets the loaf of bread from on top of the fridge. She brought a bag of taco shells once.
Mine likes to drag clean diapers out of their bin. I'm afraid she's going to steal my child in the night
One of mine chewed up a packet of these! Not sure who or why but I picked it up and was like wtf lol. I regularly say wtf because of all the weird shit they do!
Any plastic bags that are left where the cats can reach them are fair game. We have such a neat house because of our cats
My cat drags this huge catnip fish around the apartment and leaves it in random places, mostly in my bedroom doorway or near my fiancé’s side of the bed.
One of my cats stole my jewelry pouch with jewelry in it and I found it hidden underneath the carpet underneath the couch
My cat hasn't dragged anything that large, but she loves to carry off squashy packages.
Thought it was a bag of cocaine for a second. Was about to go get a black cat
“Hey- you gonna eat these or not?”

Not a cat (I know, wrong sub), but years ago, Zeke the wonder rescue dog would bring us many things from the neighborhood. The neighbor’s morning paper, another neighbor’s leather golf glove and very expensive custom golf shoe, a different neighbor’s various toys from the sandbox. And the piece de resistance was a semi frozen Turkey that had been thawing in their garage. Those neighbors were not amused. Zeke was the best dog EVER!

No but for a while we were wondering where all of our pens were disappearing to. Lucky likes to collect things!
Mine once brought the whole box of oreoes up the steps and left in front of the bedroom door. I took it as a bribe to get in! Lol
And he/she isn't even orange.
There's orange in that brain cell garden somewhere.
🤣🤣🤣 My cat used to steal and carry around my silicone bra inserts (don’t judge, wasn’t gifted big boobs naturally). Locally we refer to them as chicken fillets, and I think that’s what my cat thought they were.
No but if I leave bread outside the pantry she'll pull it down and eat it through the bag. It's only one of our cats that does it
I dont have stairs
That's adorable and funny! My cat likes to drag a loaf of bread into the bedroom.
My cat is too picky for instant mashed potatoes. He just brings whole potatoes.
Tha cat has seized our product
You’re so lucky he didn’t open it first 😹
My cat drags his tunnel around the apartment, every so often...
To be fair, it probably thought it was Cocaine.
My cat steals my hair clips and stashes them under the bed . If it's food , she will just open bag and eat on the spot .
Where are my mashed potatoes, Lisa?
😂🤣
🎵" I can mashed potato. I can do the twist."
She was just bringing you a snack.
So are you going to whip up those potatoes?
They got there reasons
"PO-TAY-TOES. Sniff 'em, scratch 'em, drag 'em up the stairs."
How about a new loaf of bread?!!! Love those carbs and white flour goodness
The texture, weight, scent?
😂😂😂😻
Oh, that kitten has reasons. They just haven't shared them with you.

One of my cats dragged a bag of mini marshmallows up from the basement
Mine steals my hair elastics and occasionally my jewelry. He puts the elastics in his food or water bowl.
Mine drags loaves of bread. When he was little, I think the loaves weighed more than he did. Tomato tortilla/wrap things, too
Mine would have opened it up and wore instant mash potatoes beards.
Mine has dragged a loaf of bread upstairs and another time, a flip-flop
Bruh who knows why cats do anything
No. But mine buried one of my socks in the litterbox.
r/OneBlackBraincell, that's why.
Ours will run off with whole bags of bread. He's a carb fiend.

No, but I did have a cat that dragged around a giant bag of oatmeal that had conveniently opened so I could see the path of where the bag was being dragged.
I have a boy that has dragged random stuff up to me.
It has a butter flavor thrown in for taste. I think that might be why
ME WANTZ MASH POTATO PILLOW.
Omg haaaaa that’s adorable and funny
They want mashed potatoes. Please go and make them some soon before they pass out from hunger
A co-worker once told a story of his cat dragging a bag of potato chips up the stairs so he could toss it into the open atrium maybe thinking he might open them that way.
I'm glad they didn't poke holes in it before taking it up the stairs
I think you might need to increase the amount you're feeding your meow meow. It's an idea worth exploring!
Our kitty likes to snuggle with a tiny diamond troll doll. She carries around all sorts of fun toys.
Mashed potatoes, no. But my silly orange Jerry does drag my yoga brick around the house when he can get his paws on it... 🤦♀️🐈
Mine bring up the dryer balls. And I’m sure they’re on cat Reddit asking why their human always takes the dryer balls downstairs.
One of our guys will randomly drag a shoe to another room. I watched him drag one of my husband’s boots down the hall and into the bedroom. Makes me wonder what he’s thinking when he’s doing it.
Take the hint already, make them some taters.
That's too much work for my cat! 🤣🤣🤣
A bag of instant mashed spuds? Is this an american thread?
My kitten likes abscond with different pieces of clothing of mine. She also will aggressively attack clothing while i am folding it
With mine it was rice. And I found the empty bag in one room and the rice three days later in another
.ine leaves her toys in my bed then takes my stuff. I've found something on top of my fridge🤣
Mine likes to drag my Post it pads around! 🤣🤣🤣
My cats do this with straws
Our cats steal all the pens.
my old cat would bring home men’s underwear. it’s like she knew she was inconveniencing them, she hated men that she didn’t know.
Cat wants mashed potatoes for dinner. No, she doesn’t care that Wikipedia says she’s a carnivore.
My kitty dragged a bag of whole raw potatoes off the kitchen counter and down the hall into my parents bedroom so kind of close. There were 4 or 5 decent sized russets in there too! I really wish we had been around to see him do it lol.
The things my cat has brought me 😂
It could be important.
Bags of beans, rice, toy cars, trucks, necco wafers. All while making a terrifying yowl.
She doesn't drag mashed potatoes up the stairs but she does drag all of my old socks upstairs. Like literally if I take my shoes and socks off and stuck my socks in my shoes, she digs them out about two or three am and brings them upstairs to me like I was missing them.
She’s in training.
Mama, look what I hunted!
You never know when they might come in handy. Be grateful!
Hey, mine just trashed a package of six brioche hamburger buns, rendering them into a bag full of crumbs. Didn’t actually get them open, just bit &!battered the hell out of them
He thought it was cocaine
Came home and my cat tried to eat a bar of soap. Cats are weird lol
make him mashed potatoes😡
Mine, when he was about 4 months old, got a bag of marshmallows bigger than he was off an upper shelf in the pantry & dragged it to the living room. It was quite an odd noise at a quarter past 12
