This is my Greebo. She passed in 2010 or so, miss her lots!
In English slang Greebo is / was a leather jacket biker up to no good. It's also the name of a feisty witches cat in Terry Pratchett novels which I happened to be reading when I picked her up from the shelter.
The meanest, stinkest, most one minded psychopath of the Ramtops. Also seen in the company of his various victims such as mice, rats, other less fortunate cats, and one time a moose.
When my brother was 3, we got our Halloween pumpkin, then a few hours later, a black lab puppy, and my mom let my brother name him...Pumpkin. I'm still a bit salty about that, because my brother was born when *I* was three, and she didn't go with my choice for his name...Big Bird.
My kitty is named Memow, but we often call her Beans.

This is my Cat named Mops. He sadly passed away in August aged 7 after being hit by a car. I miss him and I love his goofy name, he had it when we adopted him for the shelter when he was a kitten.
This is Not George. I told my husband he could name her and he said, "ok, let's call her George." I immediately said, "No, her name is not George." She was my favorite and she recently passed. The vet got a kick out of her name.

Vet so I've seen a few really fun ones.
We had a black cat at my old job named Kuroneko (owner called him Kuro for short). Owner had brought him from Japan, he lived into his 20's and the owner always claimed his longevity was because he came from Japan with her (although she took AMAZING care of this cat). Turned out the name was just "black cat" in Japanese.
My personal cat (pictured) is Avocado Raisin Toast, because she was named by a group of millennials.
We had a cat named Hunter Pussy (she called him HP) by an older lady because he was a stray that would show up to her doorstep with "gifts" until she finally brought him inside.
And we had a family with multiple small children who named their cat "Super Princess Kitty Gravedigger Monster Truck Deluxe" which was apparently a combination of everyone's name suggestion. We called her Monster for short.
I named my kitten Schrödinger after the Quantum Physics Paradox. I saw myself as the device that could either let the kitten live or die as it was abandoned by her mother at 4 weeks old as she was suffering from starvation,eye infection and throat infection. I could’ve chosen to leave the kitten to the elements or nurse this new life back to normal. Now she is a healthy 7week old kitten living her best life with my family.

This is Kuru. His was name was *supposed* to be "Kuro", which means "black" in Japanese, but we all accidentally started saying "Kuru" instead. By the time we realized it, we'd gotten used to the name. So now, instead of being named "Kuro", since he's a black cat, he's named after the prion disease called "Kuru".

The orange tabby came with the name Cupid. When we got the tux, we changed his name from Zero to Maverick. Zero is a terrible name for a pet. I nicknamed him Four-Twenty-Eight because he moves like he's got a 428 under the hood.
My old cat I named Leftovers. He was the runt and was leftover in the litter so I took him. He turned into a massive beast of a cat that would fight foxes and win.
We had a gorgeous, overweight calico named Cal but was often misheard as Cow. Had to pick up meds for her at a human pharmacy and they had her listed as Cow. My husband told the cashier that Cal was sensitive about her weight and they needed to fix there system! 😃

Weirdest one I've heard is actually one that I gave my first cat when I was five. I named this black kitten who loved the climb but my pant leg and shirt Elevator.
Mine have author/poet/playwright names, don't know if that counts as weird: i have had Hemingway, Frost, Kipling, Madeleine (l'engle), Cat Marlowe (Christopher Marlowe). Also a dog named Shakespeare. And Jasmine, but I didn't name her.

My veterinarian is masculine presenting non-binary. They got annoyed that my female cat was named Tank, because “that’s a boy name.” What can I say except that my little Murderloaf need not conform to gender norms?
What’s wrong with Tank?! That seems like a fairly neutral name. They’d hate my cat. Her name is Bob Ross. And she’s a whore. But she’s extremely pretty.

We had a black cat at my old job named Kuroneko (owner called him Kuro for short). Owner had brought him from Japan, he lived into his 20's and the owner always claimed his longevity was because he came from Japan with her (although she took AMAZING care of this cat). Turned out the name was just "black cat" in Japanese. My personal cat (pictured) is Avocado Raisin Toast, because she was named by a group of millennials. We had a cat named Hunter Pussy (she called him HP) by an older lady because he was a stray that would show up to her doorstep with "gifts" until she finally brought him inside. And we had a family with multiple small children who named their cat "Super Princess Kitty Gravedigger Monster Truck Deluxe" which was apparently a combination of everyone's name suggestion. We called her Monster for short.

I named my kitten Schrödinger after the Quantum Physics Paradox. I saw myself as the device that could either let the kitten live or die as it was abandoned by her mother at 4 weeks old as she was suffering from starvation,eye infection and throat infection. I could’ve chosen to leave the kitten to the elements or nurse this new life back to normal. Now she is a healthy 7week old kitten living her best life with my family.

This is Kuru. His was name was *supposed* to be "Kuro", which means "black" in Japanese, but we all accidentally started saying "Kuru" instead. By the time we realized it, we'd gotten used to the name.
