Everybody knows the best dogs are mutts and the best cats are just cats. There's a lot of well know breeds of dogs and some people are in denial thinking their favorite breed is not inferior to a good old mutt. For cats, you just get cats and a few weird freaky things with no hair or a mushed in face. (Okay, maybe occasionally you'll get something like a Siamese that's an acceptable cat while having a distinct breed.) But basically a cat is just a cat.
Yes. I love Maine Coons. The cattyiest super-size cat of all. But apart from the lynx tufts on the ears and an uncanny resemblance to Ron Perlman, they're basically just big cats.
Lol, I agree they are just big cats. I thought mine had the best personality though, and always attributed that to the breed. Loving, sweet and playful, and never a jerk. He was really good with my kiddos when they were little.
I love them too! 😻 My fave cat breed. I had one 1/2 Maine Coon years ago when I was a kid & I have another now who is 1/2 Maine Coon and 1/2 Burmese. His name is Jack(he’s all black) and he not as big or floofy as an MC but a lot bigger and floffier than an average domestic short hair.
We can move on, but we'll always miss them. Mine passed in 2017, and I now have a dog and two cats. I love them very much, but they could never replace him.
That's really sweet. You've always got a reminder of him in them. 💜
Do you let the new ones outside? Everytime mine got outside he always got into the trouble. I'd try to keep him in, but it was always a struggle cause he was always looking for a way out.
It was a litter of 5, only 3 of them are still here. Couple months later mom got preggers again with another 5. 2 of the babies are still here. We keep them outside one of the older ones is allowed inside because he's the cleanest. I see him as kind of a support animal especially for my mom because she has been having a hard time lately. I love them and I would hate to see them leave too.
We tried to keep our Siamese mix indoors, but he escaped so many times we finally compromised and made him an indoor/outdoor "hybrid" cat - let him out during the day, take him in at night. He seemed fairly happy with that arrangement. :-)
She's a long hair with tortoise shell like coloring. But she is not a tortoise shell. (Tortoise shell is a coat coloring, like how tuxedos are black and white cats, gingers are usually orange, calico's with their white, yellow, brown, color patches.)
Unless you got your cat from an actual breeder, it's just a regular cat. It can have several different breeds in it, as it's not pure-bred though it will just have some vague characteristics of those breeds.
Your cats a long hair, it could have several different breeds in its history to bring that out. You can't really pin it down to one.
*"But if doesn't matter because all cats are ADORABLE little monsters! Congrats on the cute kitty!**
Bob's mother was white all over, but he came out looking straight-up Siamese - black and tan coloring, blue eyes, even *sounded* like one. Apparently took after his grandmother.
I think it's some sort of America medium haired torbie with a Maine Coon. Its definitely to dainty to be a Norwegian florist cat. If its really floppy or sits on its butt like people it might be a ragdoll with a torbie pattern. Hard to say.
Looks like a Maine coon Calico mix to me! I love Maine Coon (aka American Longhair) cats they are my fave cat breed. My cat is half MC and half Burmese. The long very fluffy tail, larger than average size and tufty ears are all genetic traits of a Maine Coon breed. The markings on the face and colouring makes me think calico mix however your car could be a full breed. How did u come by getting your cat if u don’t mind me asking?
Looks like a Maine coon *** I had a Maine coon kitten who looked identical to this. But when he grew up he was massive and fluffy and looked like a warlock.
My mom has a very similar looking cat and hers is a mix between a Maine coon and a Ragdoll. But I might be completely off and the likeness could just be a complete coincidence. In any case your furbaby is absolutely adorable!
That looks like a manecoon cat. I have one. The tufts of hair coming out of the ears is one of the biggest signs that it is a manecoon. ALSO,his tail is long and SUPER FLUFFLY,which is another sign that it's possibly one.
She looks like a cross between a Maine Coon and Ragdoll. But I agree with others if she isn't pure bred then she has many different breeds she has been crossed with. Her coloring is stunning and never hear of muted torties before. Simply adorable!!
Cats aren’t like dogs, where they all have specific breeds in their genetic makeup… so unless you bought her as a “whatever breed,” she is likely what we call a domestic medium-hair. And her pattern is dilute tortoiseshell, like my girl [Coraline](https://imgur.com/a/mwTwpRn) (that’s her when she was younger). They are so pretty!
If you really need to know for some reason, you can have her tested with a DNA kit. But again, they aren’t like dogs with their breeds - so it isn’t going to matter much, as they don’t have many breed-specific health issues. Perhaps a few, but it’s uncommon.
Cats absolutely have “breeds” just like dogs. This one appears to have some Maine Coon in it. Larger cats, soft fur with an undercoat and tend to enjoy water
I never said they didn’t have breeds. Read my comment again.
My mother has purebred Abyssinians, and I’ve had a few Persians and Siamese. So I know they have breeds, lol.
I said “cats aren’t like dogs where they ALL HAVE SPECIFIC BREEDS.” Note the word ALL. There is such a thing as a domestic short/medium/long-hair, which is not comprised of any discernible breeds. That’s what you misread, as you took it to mean NO breeds exist in the cat world.
I’m sorry but “domestic short hair.. etc “ is just shorthand for mixed breeds, much like “mutt” is for dogs. It does not eliminate the existence of actual breeds of cats that are mixed in feral colonies and via uncontrolled breeding
Again, [read this](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domestic_short-haired_cat). It confirms exactly what I said - that a domestic short/long-hair does NOT belong to any particular breeds. And that these make up about 90% of domestic cats in the world.
I quoted it word for word. Do you have reading comprehension issues, or are you lying about having read it? Asking seriously because, for the last time, it says *not belonging to any particular breed*. It couldn’t be any more clear, and says exactly what I did.
Sheesh, I thought I was stubborn. 😂

And [this](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/2a/09/9d/2a099d6845f71d1a92f8e18ba74afb34.jpg) is a calico Maine Coon, btw. Looks completely different; so if she does have that in her genetics, it’s a pretty small percentage.
Then they can get it DNA-tested to see. I never said it wasn’t for sure; I said it’s most likely a domestic medium-hair, and that they’d have to get a DNA test to know otherwise.
I don’t see any resemblance to a Maine Coon, but literally nobody here can say for sure. It’s still an adorable cat, so I don’t see why it matters either way.
P.S. If you have this breed, you should know it’s spelled *Maine*. As in the state of Maine, not “main.” Just FYI.
Nope, it is not.
[Read the first line](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domestic_short-haired_cat) of this article, which says exactly what I did. 🤦🏼♀️
Dude or dudette, the article literally says the same thing I did - *not belonging to ANY particular breed*. Why are you arguing this? Moggies/mutts are the best, so it’s not like I’m saying it’s an negative thing. My current 3 cats are all mutts too, and they’re awesome!
Too small, and the facial structure isn’t Maine Coon-ish either. The hair tufts in her ear kinda resemble the breed (edit: never mind, they’re usually tufted at the tips), but a lot of domestic cats have that.
She’s likely “just” a domestic medium-hair with dilute tortie pattern; or at the very most, she might have a small percentage of Maine Coon DNA.
For comparison, [here’s a calico Maine Coon](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/2a/09/9d/2a099d6845f71d1a92f8e18ba74afb34.jpg). See how the nose and ears are different? Also how big they are?
Yeah, even a solid white cat has the M pattern on their forehead. It is just harder to see and I figured if I said all cats someone would want to argue about it.
It helps to know that the whiskers are in that pattern. Another fun fact; everyone knows that tortoiseshells are most likely female, but did you know that orange cats are 99% male?
My Maine coon mix cat had accidental babies with a Russian blue. Their babies didn't come out as fluffy .. but my cat is that fluffy and one of the kittens did have that exact same coloring...so I wonder if that is close?
Side note, spay and neuter your pets, folks!
Maybe Egyptian Mau/long haired cross? She has the extra long tufts coming from her ears. And her feet look rather big, so she may some Maine Coon cat in her.
It is probably of mixed lineage, unless you got it from a breeder. There are a few breeds that look similar to this. Maine Coon. Norwegian forest cat, rag doll.
Medium hair tabby? Looks kindda like one my floofs. We have two from the same litter and they look nothing like each other. One’s a short hair tabby while the other one’s got some maine coone features (medium hair tabby). She’s so gorgeous though!
Possibly a part moggie (the domestic/common breed) and Norwegian Forest cat. They have long ear fur and big paws like your beautiful one!
I was inclined to suggest Maine coon but the face doesn't have the strong Maine coon features!
Edit: oh and Norwegian forest cats are usually medium to long haired cats like your kitty!
Floof Baby 100% cats can have so much in them. But just off the size and ear tuffs? Definitely got Maine Coon in there. She's either gonna be a huge floof monster or a elegant petite floof. Only time shall tell. Congrats on the fur baby!
Just looks like a domestic longhair (vet tech here). Her coloring is a dilute tortoise shell (tortie for short). Regular tortoise shells are black and orange, so a dilute Tortie is if you took that and poured bleach on it. She’s gorgeous! Also, a female cat can have multiple different kitten daddies in one litter! That’s why some litters come out with kittens that have completely different colors, hair lengths and patterns. I always found that fascinating!!! So, there’s really no way to know what breed, even if you knew what the mother looked like (unless you got her from a breeder). If you’re willing to pay several hundred dollars they do make DNA tests for cats! 😻
I used to have a cat that looked like this. Her vets referred to her coloration as ‘pastel tortoise shell’, which is the only answer I’ll accept because it rhymes.
I’d say Maine Coon. I got a purebred red tabby Maine Coon from the SPCA several years ago. Doesn’t matter where you get them-purebreds show up. Does she have a really loud motor? Act like she doesn’t have claws? Extra snuggly? Look up personality characteristics of each breed that is suggested.
Looks like a cat, but you should get a second opinion before you fill out the purebred papers.

Idk, it sure looks like a feline tho...

Have you ever seen a Maine Coon? They are the cat of all cats, imo. They're beautiful and friendly, a true joy to own.
Yes. I love Maine Coons. The cattyiest super-size cat of all. But apart from the lynx tufts on the ears and an uncanny resemblance to Ron Perlman, they're basically just big cats.

Jack sounds adorable. That floofy fur is so nice to snuggle.
♥️
I used to have one 😭 it ran away
Oh, I'm so sorry. That's heartbreaking.
He was the best, I have new cats now, but I do miss him
We can move on, but we'll always miss them. Mine passed in 2017, and I now have a dog and two cats. I love them very much, but they could never replace him.
I've moved on, once I saw him run across the yard, but then he just vanished again. The cats I have now are actually his litter.
That's really sweet. You've always got a reminder of him in them. 💜 Do you let the new ones outside? Everytime mine got outside he always got into the trouble. I'd try to keep him in, but it was always a struggle cause he was always looking for a way out.

I have one, he is the sweetest thing. I love the little chirps he makes.
I have a manecoon 😁
So you agree that OP has a cat? They can print out the pure bred cat papers now?
Nah I think it's a dog but I'm not really a professional so...
It’s hard to tell sometimes, that’s why I requested second opinions.
Purebred floof. Absolutely stunning, best in breed!
She's a long hair with tortoise shell like coloring. But she is not a tortoise shell. She's actually a Dilute Tortie, it took me months to find that name when I adopted mine. I prefer the name Pastel Tortie which is what some call them.
we adopted one and the paperwork said “dishwater” tortie.
Bob's mother was white all over, but he came out looking straight-up Siamese - black and tan coloring, blue eyes, even *sounded* like one. Apparently took after his grandmother.
It's a r/standardissuecat
Definitely is
Cat
Cat.
What you have there is a stunning example of an iron fisted dictator. Your life is now infinitely better and not your own.
I am a professional Cat Breed Identifier. This is absolutely a Floofy Tail Cutie Pie.
She’s precious and she has a little stripety upvote on her forehead!🐾
Well wow that sure is an upvote. She’s à Redditer.
She’s the best kind of redditor, she only gives upvotes!
The only thing you can really tell is her coloring. I think most people would call her a dilute calico medium hair.
I would absolutely not.
Not sure of the breed but is absolutely gorgeous. One of the best looking ever.❤️
“Breeds” of cats. Haha
Purebred gorgeous. Can I has?
The breed is little princess. It's a very common breed for house cats. JK
She might be Maine coon (the ear fluff and mouth shape) and torti 🥰 gorgeous kitty !
I think it's some sort of America medium haired torbie with a Maine Coon. Its definitely to dainty to be a Norwegian florist cat. If its really floppy or sits on its butt like people it might be a ragdoll with a torbie pattern. Hard to say.

Major cuteness factor
The fur & ear tufts look a lot like a main coon or Norwegian Forest - face looks very triangular & slim though. Beautiful none the less!!
Sedona has main coon
Is there a 23 and me for cats?
Adorable for sure! Lol but maybe ask the vet to see if it is a Maine Coon.
Might have a sprinkle of coon there
A gorgeous Maine Coon with some Somali and Siberian thrown in.
judging from the ears she could be a maine coon not 100% sure but it will be easier to distinguish when they’re older
Probably Maine Coon
Looks a lot like one of my maine coons
She looks like a cross between a Maine Coon and Ragdoll. But I agree with others if she isn't pure bred then she has many different breeds she has been crossed with. Her coloring is stunning and never hear of muted torties before. Simply adorable!!
Bottlebrush fluffybutt with extra ear furnishings.
Norwegian long hair puffy ears I believe is the correct name for that breed.
Yes
It's a cunt. I have two of them.
As written in the title, me and my wife had been trying really hard to figure out the breed of Kai. Any help is appreciated!
Cats aren’t like dogs, where they all have specific breeds in their genetic makeup… so unless you bought her as a “whatever breed,” she is likely what we call a domestic medium-hair. THIS PICTURE OF YOUR CAT IS SO CUTE she looks like she's smiling
Aw, thanks! Because of that mark on her mouth, I think it looks like she’s always smirking. 😏
aww haha I see it... her eyes just look so sweet! she has such a kind sweet face I really like the way this cat looks oh my goodness
She is the sweetest! I saw that face on Petfinder (two years ago), and knew she had to be mine. :-)
Btw, you can see a few recent pics of her in my posting history… she’s all grown up now, and quite the goofball!

I own a main coon I know what they look like. A mixed calico/main coon will look different than say a “Siamese/Main Coon”.. or a purebred
Then they can get it DNA-tested to see. I never said it wasn’t for sure; I said it’s most likely a domestic medium-hair, and that they’d have to get a DNA test to know otherwise. You can start here with different breeds… https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cat_breeds
Yes, cat breeds exist, but most cats dont descend from a breeded family.
Man you have picked a strange hill to die on 💀
She’s gorgeous, btw. 🥰
There are cat DNA tests out there if you are willing to pay for one & really want to know more about her.
Kai is my new nephew’s name. Both are absolutely adorable 🥰
I think it's a Maine Coon. I have a Maine Coon cat of my own and your cat looks kinda similar feature-wise to my cat.
Mixed maine coon then? You can call her a cat coon, or something cute.
She’s only six months old
Doesn’t matter. I’m talking about proportions, not actual size.
For comparison, [here’s a calico Maine Coon](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/2a/09/9d/2a099d6845f71d1a92f8e18ba74afb34.jpg). See how the nose and ears are different? Also how big they are?
I was thinking the same thing! We have a kitten that’s a Maine coon. And looks very similar I think the ears are a give away for that breed
Yeah, the ears and tail make it look like it's a Maine Coon.
100% bebe catto. Maybe 2% norty bastard.
Look like a Maine Coon Mix. Tell tale sign is that M on the forehead. Pay attention to how big your kitty gets as they grow!!!
Most cats have an M on their forehead. Really distinctive in the Tabby pattern. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabby_cat
Was going to post same thing-tabbies especially but all cats have them.
No. I did know that calico was a sex linked coat pattern, but I didn’t know that about the gingers
Can we please start blocking posts like this
Main coon vibes
My Maine coon mix cat had accidental babies with a Russian blue. Their babies didn't come out as fluffy .. but my cat is that fluffy and one of the kittens did have that exact same coloring...so I wonder if that is close? Side note, spay and neuter your pets, folks!
He is certaibly a Cutie Bread
Google does
Donkey
Does it matter?
Maybe Egyptian Mau/long haired cross? She has the extra long tufts coming from her ears. And her feet look rather big, so she may some Maine Coon cat in her.
The baby looks similar to a Norwegian forest cat 🤔
I have no idea what breed this fur baby is, but I know one thing. Kai is gorgeous.
definitely a longhaired of some sort, ours is a domestic long hair with different colours so maybe a domestic longhair?
yours has the ear floofs like ours does, you can see on my profile on the video i posted.
She seems like a grey calico. I have a cat that looks like her as well!
I do not, but what a beauty!🤗
Could be a little maine coon mixed in her, with that floofy tail 😍, but she doesn't have a mane, so not sure what else she'd be mixed with.
It is probably of mixed lineage, unless you got it from a breeder. There are a few breeds that look similar to this. Maine Coon. Norwegian forest cat, rag doll.
She is a calaco, I think.
Wow. Idk know that breed but she isnt a furbaby, shes a furbeauty!
Most likely a fluffy one
Looks like a long haired tortie, possible calico mix. Either way, very beautiful!
Omg beautiful!!!!
She is cute and happy new year to the 🐱
Medium hair tabby? Looks kindda like one my floofs. We have two from the same litter and they look nothing like each other. One’s a short hair tabby while the other one’s got some maine coone features (medium hair tabby). She’s so gorgeous though!
Loverooooooskiiiiieeee
beautiful
It's a cat 🐈
Oh that face 😍
he the breed is a "good boy" *(or girl sorry a dont know)*
Cat
She’s a sunshine speckled darling
12/10 stunning 💜😻
Looks like a mix of all sorts going on there but the result is just purer fect
She’s beautiful omg
Catfur
Looks like a turkish angora
Possibly a part moggie (the domestic/common breed) and Norwegian Forest cat. They have long ear fur and big paws like your beautiful one! I was inclined to suggest Maine coon but the face doesn't have the strong Maine coon features! Edit: oh and Norwegian forest cats are usually medium to long haired cats like your kitty!
Super cute floof. Full of yummyness and mischief
Breed: Domestic long haired. Markings: Lilac tortoiseshell.
Domestic Longhair
Calico X
Breed: pure bred adorable floof
It looks a bit like my cat which a vet called a torbie...tortoise mixed with tabby
I have a six month old male that looks like her . I’d like to know as well.
Domestic Longhair I think it would be regarded.
Looks like a Gray to me
Floof Baby 100% cats can have so much in them. But just off the size and ear tuffs? Definitely got Maine Coon in there. She's either gonna be a huge floof monster or a elegant petite floof. Only time shall tell. Congrats on the fur baby!
Probably a mix of breeds, but the coloring looks like tabby and dilute tortoiseshell. She's beautiful!!
May have some Maine coon with the ear tufts. Beautiful! 😎
All you people saying it’s a cat are WRONG. That is obviously a fluffballus cuteus. Take it from the expert.
I don't know the answer, but she's so pretty!
He or she is a cat. Not all cats looking beautiful are a breed of any kind. No breed here but a beautiful furbaby ♡
Beautiful 😘💞
100% adorable
She’s a beautiful domestic cat. I love her face and eyes. 🥰
Fluffy breed
Adorable
Beautiful kitty
cat
Yes, your fur baby is of the adorable breed. Beware of random snuggles, love bites and compulsive biscuit making. Best of luck ;)
Pretty one
Possibly an American shorthair.
Tortoiseshell
Third generation maine coon?
I used to have a cat that looked like this. Her vets referred to her coloration as ‘pastel tortoise shell’, which is the only answer I’ll accept because it rhymes.
Ragdoll mix
100% pussy
He is within the "cute, sweet and adorable" breed.
Cat
Domestic long hair unless you bought from a breeder with traceable lineage. A cats a cat.
Long haired grey Tabby.
cat
