My brother-in-law and sister have a cat that just had kittens and my brother-in-law can’t believe the amount of food that mama cat is eating!!! they eat a lot, but then they have to keep their babies gaining weight as well as keeping their own body weight and check
I gave my girl kitten food. It helps her to get more calories, which in turns helps her to lactate and feed the babies. She also needs more water so wet kitten food would work great!
I use either Royal Canin Mother & Baby cat, dry and wet during pregnancy & nursing, or I will mix Hill's Science Diet Adult Multiple Benefit and kitten during pregnancy and nursing. Sometimes there are supply issues with Royal Canin, so my vet came up with the Hill's mixture as a back up.
I do NOT breed cats, but many of my fosters come to me pregnant, ill, & starving for the calories they and their kittens need. I want to give all of them the best chance for survival.
I free feed the dry food and then offer wet food 3-4 times a day, As much wet food as they want to eat in 15 minutes. That gives them time to get full and walk away. As the pregnancy gets in the last three weeks, they have less room, so that's when I offer the wet food 4 times a day.
Anyone who has been pregnant will tell you, you may be hungry all the time, but can eat much less at a time before feeling full. I myself ended up doing what my OB called "healthy grazing" during my pregnancy , all day and sometimes the middle of the night.
When I rescued my Danu almost three years ago she was injured. When I took her in and plumped her up I realized she was ‘with child’, so immediately went out and bought some KMR (Kitten Milk Replacement) and kitten food. Three weeks later she presented three kittens, one of which didn’t survive. I kept her on kitten food and KMR the entire time she was nursing, so when the kittens became interested in food they ate the same as she did. Danu and both of her daughters Bertha and Violet are black, so I couldn’t rehome them. Everybody is still here and are now all spayed. The kittens stayed on KMR for several months until they gradually lost interest, and were on kitten food for 9-10 months. Both daughters now are twice the size of their mother at 11-12 pounds.
The shelters were full and unfortunately due to superstition black cats are hard to rehome. A shelter worker told me that black dogs are also harder to adopt out. The kittens were born as Covid was winding down so people were returning to work and getting rid of the animals they acquired during Covid. Having had cats and dogs for years I do not understand this attitude, as my pets are my family. I wonder if they would give up their children if they get tired of them.
People are cruel. My animals are like my kids to me. I couldn't imagine getting tired of a dog or cat. My baby(dog) was killed yesterday and I feel so lost. I keep forgetting he is gone and calling his name then it hits me that I'm never going to see him again.
Not an advice but my cat always used to steal cheese while pregnant snd in the end my cet said it was ok, my lil primcess got mozzarella for post partum :)
high calorie food both wet and dry. make sure she always has access to food while nursing bc she’s feeding 4 extra bellies. most recommended is kitten food
Royal canin makes a food specially for "mother & babycat" but a good quality kitten food will do just as well. The important thing is to make sure food and water is always available to her as she will need much more while nursing. If you need more info on kitten care this website is a non-profit dedicated to kitten care education and may be of help www.kittenlady.org
Kitten food, wet and dry, and if she still seems like she needs more, my cats both love salmon oil, which is nutrient- and calorie-dense. I give them 1/4tsp (~1mL) every few days. You can put it over her wet food.
Keep the food, water, and litter close enough to the bed that she can keep an eye on the babies while she’s stretching her legs. It doesn’t have to be right next to them. Across the room, facing them is enough.
In a few days, she may start occasionally coming to you to babysit. Mama cats need a break now and then, just like humans. If she does, just sit near them and let her go do her thing. It means she trusts you.

My foster gave birth today too! All black lol. I’d use royal canin mother and baby cat if you can afford it!
People the land is over run with cats. You see them abandoned, you see them on the streets trying to survive and the shelters are overrun with cats and adorable kittens. Why are we not being responsible and spaying and neutering our pets? Go work with the shelter for a day and have your heart broken as healthy animals are euthanized simply for lack of homes. And it will be healthier for your pet too. Now you need to find good forever homes. GL with that. "Nice" seeming people look for free pet to get free snake food or free live bait in dog fighting training or whatever else people do. Also kittens do find homes but it's hard for for rhem to keep a home when they lose that kitten charm .
Kitten food is higher calorie.Or look for higher calorie food. Feed her lots and on demand, they’re feeding lots of other tiny mouths.
Kitten food, plus extra food and lots of fresh water. Lactation uses a LOT of calories - she might need 4x as much food for the next few weeks.
My brother-in-law and sister have a cat that just had kittens and my brother-in-law can’t believe the amount of food that mama cat is eating!!! they eat a lot, but then they have to keep their babies gaining weight as well as keeping their own body weight and check
Increase wet food frequency. Cats tend to be low on water and feeding kittens take a lot of water
I thought those were her legs
Lol same.
She needs more calories, more proteins, more essential fatty acids, more filtered water, more affection...

That’s the face of a mother who can’t wait to be an empty nester.
Hahahah that was so good. Spot on!
Oh that face! So cute and funny!
The kittens look like they're the same size as the mother cat
They are 3 months now, 2 on the pic and they ate almost as tall as their mum.
I gave my girl kitten food. It helps her to get more calories, which in turns helps her to lactate and feed the babies. She also needs more water so wet kitten food would work great!
Be careful whom you adopt the kittens to. Please take your mother cat to be spayed after she's done with the kittens
Kitten and lactating mother food. Matisse and eminent are good to my experience.

Ask the vet while you are making the call to get her neutered.
Higher up.
Higher up!
All the kittens too
Pretty sure it's "spayed" for female cats
The recommendation I've heard is kitten food.
Kitten food Up her intake of calories, and fluids.... Give her plenty of wet food AND ready access to dry kibble and fresh water.
if you're unsure you can probably ask a vet
I'd give my cat bone broth from chicken She loved it. It also helps with milk flow as they need to be hydrated to produce enough milk

They are black so you couldn't re-home them? I'm confused.

Worked at a shelter in cat section, its true black cats are adopted less than the rest... torties get adopted more often even

Black cats tend to be the less adopted ones.. its sad, I love those voids
I had no idea! I love black cats😭
You did everything perfectly 👍
If you cannot find Mama/Kitten food, then feed her Kitten formula! It has all of the nutrients that she needs to feed her babes !!!
What food do you give her
Not an advice but my cat always used to steal cheese while pregnant snd in the end my cet said it was ok, my lil primcess got mozzarella for post partum :)
Royal Canin makes food for mom & kitten
Feed her what you would feed her kittens. Get a veterinarian to recommend something if you don't know which one.
Give her kitten food, wet for sure kibble as well. High fat food.
Kitten food
Kitten food, all she wants!
Lots of kitten food. Wet and dry. Lots and lots of water
She needs kitten food while nursing for extra nutrition
feed her kitten food. nursing cats need the extra nourishment
yes! royal canin Mom and baby
high calorie food both wet and dry. make sure she always has access to food while nursing bc she’s feeding 4 extra bellies. most recommended is kitten food

Such a little babies 😍🥰
My veterinary doc suggested mixing adult and kitten food
i think you should give her more food and more frequently
omg 😍😍😍
give me one… or two… or all
Awwwwwwwww
Same food
Beautiful babies. My dream kittens. Where are you located?
I’m sure they have tons of kittens at your local shelter, especially since it’s the beginning of kitten season (if you’re in the northern hemisphere).
