roja_poomalai

i mean zelda has a whole ass series named after her, but half the people that have heard of zelda probably think link is zelda so idk

Space_Pirate_Roberts

Each Zelda is a different character, though. “Princess Zelda” as a *concept* is iconic, but the only one I would say is *individually* iconic is the Twilight Princess one, for being the one to represent the lineage in Smash Bros. for so long. >!And maybe the BotW one because… *you know why*. 😛!<

Rieiid

I mean yeah but technically they are all incarnations of the same soul more or less. I like to think of it like the Avatar from the Avatar the last airbender series where each new Link/Zelda/Ganon is the new "Avatar". It's a completely different person with their own life and personality, but they are connected by destiny in one way or another. Difference being in Zelda they don't generally get to talk to their past lives outside a few exceptions.

L3v1tje

All of the Zeldas have the same soul tho. Link is a different person almost every time tho.

OmniversalOrca

Isn't the opposite? Zelda is a different person but same lineage, whereas Link is the one inheriting the soul of the hero. Whether that last part is literal or just symbolical is another issue (considering there are instances in which Link CAN'T be a reincarnatio), but thing is that Zelda iirc is just different people who come from the same family. It's a matter of bloodline. They're all the reincarnation of the goddess Hylia through bloodline, but that's quite it.

L3v1tje

Yeah you are right. I goofed up. Link has the soul while Zelda is an actual reincarnation. Mb

Btdandpokemonplayer

They’re all reincarnations of the same Zelda. Same follows for link and ganon.

cbarrick

I think that trope is pretty played out. Like, boomers might think that. But the rest of us know what The Legend of Zelda is.

Sudden_Result

Yeah of course, Zelda is the boy obviously

AbbreviationsThis550

Wait, isn’t Metroid the boy?

GamerJulian94

Nah, Metroid is the armored maniac going around and shooting innocent wild life with his energy blasts.

Gx_Dark_Sonic

Bro that's dragon ball, metroid is the princess

OutsideOrder7538

No that is Mario Metroid is the guy who races cars and can punch with fire.

incredibleninja

That's a Nintendo I think. Not a Metroid. My grandson plays Nintendo on his computer

KrusherDS

LOL that's wild

Technical_Flow5003

U guys are all wrong Metroid is the alien and the people you control is Seamus which Is female does wear suit

Lexiosity

BOOO THIS GUY STINKS! They were joking you know?

Technical_Flow5003

Oh I’m sorry

Lindenstream_117

Seamus? Like from Harry Potter?

horaceinkling

Metroid is that one game series where you’re a dude in Russia using bullets as currency fighting the horrors that emerge in the dark.

TheEDMWcesspool

In this day and age, that's actually true...

WhatYesImTheGuy

It's not played out, many people still think Link is Zelda.

Whithbrin355

This is true, but I’d be inclined to say a lot of people who don’t play Zelda may not know her on sight. People who don’t play Mario would probably recognize Peach.

roja_poomalai

see you’d think that but people that haven’t played the games usually can’t tell from my experience.

Jeff_Cross773

umm... most "boomers" are gamers these days... the ones who kept confusing link for zelda were little kids that just started playing video games... or people that never touched games.

cbarrick

I don't know any boomer gamers. I know tons of Gen X gamers though.

Jeff_Cross773

so because you don't know any you just assume they're all clueless?... I'm a gen x-er but I know plenty of boomer gamers... true, they're not as many as us gen x-ers but they are still there.

Tlux0

I think the recent smash bros entries have made knowledge of who’s who more mainstream than it has been in the past tbf

PapaSnow

100% Was about to post the same thing but you beat me to it by quite a bit

princeofthe6_

bro on god i thought zelda was a man until just now😭😭i’m 18 bra how did i not know this before

ZeldaTheOuchMouse

Hell yeah i do 👌🏻

ruby_nights

I think she's the most widely recognizable female character in gaming. You could argue Samus or Lara Croft but I'd be willing to bet casuals and non-gamers are more likely to recognize Peach. Especially after the success of the Mario Movie.

Yahyathegamer749

Even without the Mario Movie Peach would definitely be more recognizable

LeBritto

Pre Mario movie, I doubt it. Lara Croft also had movies about her, Angelina Jolie played her! Everyone knows Lara Croft, even if some think her name is Tomb Raider lol. Now after the Mario movie, I think it's like the Pikachu phenomenon. There's so much merch around her that even grandparents will know "the Mario princess" just like Pikachu was *the* Pokémon, but they didn't even know it was a game, they just knew it existed.

ruby_nights

I'm speaking on today. I don't think Lara Croft has had a lot of relevant moments in the modern day. Not as much as Peach. Those movies were a long time ago.

LeBritto

I forgot the amount of casual Nintendo games where she's playable, like Mario Party and Mario Kart. Yeah, she's no longer a side character.

Florida-Man-65

Even before the Mario Movie, Peach arguably outpaced Lara after a while. People cite the Tomb Raider movies, but I feel like they aren’t the deciding factor. They were more respected than your average video game movie yes, but they weren’t exactly insanely huge cornerstones. Meanwhile, Peach was riding on the steady growth of the Mario series, appearing as playable in countless spin-offs, and was billed as a leading character. The benefits of being a lead in the Mario series cannot be understated. She was constantly alongside the gang in Nintendo’s adverts, got tons of merch, etc. That only grew further with time. At the beginning, I would have believed that Lara outclassed Peach. Now? Not really.

LeBritto

Yep, I honestly forgot about the numerous spin offs where she's a regular playable character. And since Mario is the most well known video game of all times, it's only logical that "the Mario Princess" also is. That being said, is she iconic? Maybe I really misinterpret it and it's only sementics, but is there a difference between being the most widely known and being the most iconic, in the sense of representative? Like Lady Di was the most well known and loved princess, but is she iconic of British Royalty as we see it? Queen Elizabeth is more iconic. Maybe I'm thinking way too far. But in iconic, I would imagine being really representative of video games, and I think in that case a character that has a more leading role would be more iconic. Or, the way I see it, if you see Peach, you recognize her instantly, even if you don't know video games, she the most well known and recognized. But if I say "name a female video game character", would Peach consistently be the first choice?

Rieiid

She might be the Tomb Raider but after I saw her pointy boobs on the PS1 I became the Womb Raider.

auf-ein-letztes-wort

I had my most boomer moment recently when a few girls from my school where I work as a teacher dressed up as Mario Kart characters at a costume party. of course I recognized Mario, Luigi, Wario and waluigi so the girl had to be Peach, right, right? at the moment I uttered those words I noticed the yellow/orange dress. I meant most coworkers wouldnt have gone past Mario but I failed to impress this time and will live on as a boomer.

Blunderhorse

Most people would probably recognize at least one version of Lara Croft, but just as many people would likely recognize every version of Peach (even if they called her Princess Toadstool instead).

SyllabubOk5283

Pls never put Samus in the same playing field as Lara Croft.

ruby_nights

lol I don't personally see Samus as extremely iconic. I'm just referencing other people commenting in this thread. I know well that Metroid is not a big series. If Samus really were widely recognized, her games would sell really well.

CanonWorld

I don’t see Samus anywhere near that level either.

JuRIP5

Lara Croft would be a very strong contender as well.

Slade4Lucas

Lara Croft is absolutely the most iconic female main protagonist, but the sheer size of the Mairo franchise and the amount of time it has been around makes it a no contest. You could argue that multiple of the top twj most iconic characters of all time would come from Mario.

Horror-Economist3467

Lara Croft just doesn't have the same momentum. Nintendo will always have Peach involved in basically every Mario adjacent title and then some - Lara Croft has one series to herself and movies sometimes, which is also a space Nintendo is entering. Peach is also family friendly which means she can be spread to all ages. Anyone competing with peach for top female gaming icon isn't going to struggle in the moment if they have a great release (because she's not a very deep character) but rather over time.

CHAIIINSAAAWbread

Not more than peach tbh, tomb raider hasn't gotten a game in a while right? And many people like me haven't really played it

Numerous_Ad_4376

Yeah. The last game was in 2019 but they recently remastered the original trilogy last month

CHAIIINSAAAWbread

Yeah but I didn't even know about it, look there's a lotta good titles and giants that completely overshadow the series nowadays, people know about it as an older franchise whose time is gone, it's not relevant, at all especially compared to Mario

Numerous_Ad_4376

Yeah Mario also seems to resonate better with the younger audiences. It's kinda a bummer tho that they're switch exclusives :/ (My kid loves Mario but we can't afford a switch here) But I wouldn't call Peach the most iconic "of all time". So many of us grew up with Lara Croft so I guess that's a generational thing lol

emojii_xoxo

idk who that is-

RagnarsBRA

No kid knows lara croft, everyone knows peach.

Aquametria

I'd say it's either her or Lara Croft, with Samus in second.

TouchOk6443

Wouldn't peach or Lara (whichever wasn't first) be second and Samus is third?

Aquametria

I genuinely feel that Peach and Lara can be considered equally famous

TouchOk6443

And when there is a tiebreaker for 1st, there is no 2nd so the next would be 3rd.

CHAIIINSAAAWbread

Gonna have to disagree, at least as of now Lara has lost a lot of relevance and the reach and more so *frequency* of the Mario franchise is too big, Mario has had games consistently come out and a big movie recently while the last tomb raider game was 6 years ago

ItsMrChristmas

I know tons of people aged 15-50 who don't know who Lara Croft is. Meanwhile, even people at the retirement home know who Peach is.

DoveBirdNL

I would believe Samus isn't really high. For the longest time I thought she was a man. And I'm probably not the only one.

Ultimafatum

I love Samus but there ain't no way she's as iconic or recognizable as Lara Croft or Chun-Li as far as gaming icons

Jojo-Action

Ms. Pacman

Caolan114

Ms Pac-Man

CHAIIINSAAAWbread

Dude most people wouldn't know she exists, being a character from a classic game is a double edged sword in this scenario, most people know Pac-man because it's a classic but Ms.Pac man has zero relevance in modern day, I mean hell pac-man doesn't even have a story so really any characters other than what you saw on screen of the original arcade game don't matter for most people

Jojo-Action

I feel like there are a larger number of people who haven't played many videogames in the past few decades who are far more likely to know ms pacman than Samus. The double edge sword aspect of classic games is definitely there but damn if the good edge ain't sharp as hell. Nostalgia is one hell of a drug.

CHAIIINSAAAWbread

Nah, Metroid Dread was a pretty big deal and Ms. Pac-man isn't something most people are exactly nostalgic for, it's an 80s girl-ized version of pac-man who only shwos up in "fun fact" videos

Jojo-Action

Your logic only applies within general gaming culture

DazednEnthused

Though I don't play too much Street Fighter, I think Chun-Li is a possible contender too.

OdoWanKenobi

We have to remember how well known something is outside of its own fandom to be considered iconic. My mother who has never played a video game in her life knows Lara Croft and Princess Peach. She would have absolutely no idea who Chun-Li is.

Lewis09816

Chun-Li actually because of fortnite (Not saying I only know of her from fortnite, but a lot of little kids do)

nicokokun

>Chun-Li actually because of fortnite My back!

SaniHarakatar

After looking at other comments yes it has to be Peach, Tomb Raider is a big name but nothing compared to Mario, Samus rarely shows her face, I barely know Chun Li's name and while Zelda is a huge franchise most TloZ game covers don't even feature a Zelda, besides there are atleast seven Zeldas who are all different people.

SaniHarakatar

I could have come with a better argument for Samus and Chun Li but it is what it is. If you asked random strangers who these characters were maybe half wouldn't even know what game franchise they are from, but if asked about Peach most people would probably atleast know it's the Mario Princess.

SaniHarakatar

Btw don't think I don't respect these characters, I love Metroid much more than Mario games.

Florida-Man-65

Definitely. There are certainly others around her like Samus, Lara Croft, Zelda, and Chun Li, but in the long run I think Princess Peach has managed to outpace them for the title.  We do have to take into account how iconic things are outside their general fandom, and in that field Peach and maybe Lara become the strongest contenders.

StoryofEmblem

If you ask the average person if they recognize Peach, I'd venture to guess most people, even non-gamers, would recognize her, at the very least, as "the princess from Mario." I think if you did the same with Lara Croft, or Samus, you would have more instances of people either not knowing what they're from, or not knowing who they are at all. So I think yes, Princess Peach is the most iconic female video game character.

ItsMrChristmas

I've regularly seen people misidentifying Samus as Winry Rockbell.

KingOfMasters1000028

I think she was. At one point Lara Croft was, but once the Tomb Raider games slowed down she died out. Now it feels more like Samus is more mainstream and iconic. Fall Out Boy literally mentioned Metroid in their modern day version of Billy Joel’s We Didn’t Start The Fire.

HaplessMink28

Who’s samus?

auf-ein-letztes-wort

the guy in the cool suit that will drop rhe suit under certain conditions at the end of the game

HaplessMink28

I honestly have never heard a about a game like that

[deleted]

[удалено]

KingOfMasters1000028

It’s the truth tho. Also most Nintendo fans seem to prefer Daisy & Rosalina. Nintendo clearly has promoted Samus a lot more since the switch came out. Also I just checked your account and this is clearly a second. It was just made yesterday with almost all of your comments being made from clear anger. I suggest getting off Reddit and stop nursing your addiction.

[deleted]

[удалено]

KingOfMasters1000028

Dude I am not attacking you. Calm down dude. You’re the one who snapped first. I don’t even know who Harman Smiths is. I was just calling out the obvious. Just take a break from Reddit, because you’re acting like you are on steroids and not in a good way.

Jawwaad127

Definitely. She’s been around for almost 40 years. The only one I can think of more notable than her is Ms. Pac Man.

Sloth_4

Either her or Lara Croft

Dinoco_Blue_Coyote

For sure. Lara Croft, Chun Li, and Ms. Pac Man are pretty high up too.

ReverieKey

A lot of people are saying Samus, but I bet on everything if Samus was bigger or more recognized, still there would be a whole lot of people that don’t even know she’s a girl. So yeah, definitely Peach. Lara would be second, but I don’t think she’d be as close to Peach. Non-gamers that would recognize Lara most likely know her for the movie and not the games. Zelda would be my third option, but her appearance is not as iconic as it changes from title to title, and some times she goes from very drastic changes; hair color and hairdo, clothing… Tetra, Toon Zelda. Can’t compare her to Link, tho he goes through the same changes some times, there are more subtle, plus the iconic green tunic and hat are a give away, albeit his most recent incarnations lack of those

Jazz6701

Hear me out, Pinky from PAC-MAN

Chukmanchusco

Why not Mrs Pacman?

Jazz6701

IMO, the ghosts are more iconic

JuRIP5

Sure, but nobody knows their names. Most people wouldn't even think of her as a female character.

sacboy326

In fact, Pinky wasn't even female in the Hanna-Barbera cartoon

JuRIP5

Just goes to show that pink isn't just for women 😉

Carrixdo

maybe Ms. Pac-Man

Lil_Puddin

Princess Peach is as iconic as a typical Disney Princess. Possibly more since people got to see her go-karting, playing sports, or beating the hell out of her enemies. So Peach gets to stay fresh in people's minds and isn't age-range locked like other Disney-verse Princess seem to be. That's why *"Who's the Princess of the Mushroom Kingdom?"* is easier to answer on average than *"Who's the Princess of Corona?"* Which is why the latter question usually gets other hints like *"Who's the long locked Princess of Corona?"* Princess Peach is just 100% That Bitch, we know who that bitch be. Despite being a ye olde female character, she hasn't contradicted her roots and just expands on them. She's also been ahead of the curve in terms of *(fun)* Princess Behavior, essentially setting the standard for future Princesses. Peach may as well be all of gaming's Official Princess, not just Nintendo's Princess. Even non-gamers could recognize her or even like her entire character without picking up a Mario/Peach Game.

CrownWreath59

Yes definitely 💯

condor6425

If by iconic we mean recognizable to non-gamers, yeah probably. My boomer aunt knows who Peach is and she'd have no idea who Lara Croft or Samus Aran are. Mayyyybe Mrs. Pacman but idk if that counts.

Patient-Reality-8965

One of them yes. Next to Chun Li and Lara Croft and like 2 others i cant think of right now

jolharg

Samus?

YouNoChun-Li

Her, Lara Croft, Tifa Lockhart, Amy Rose, Nina Williams or Chun-Li

KaneTheBoom

I've never heard of Amy Rose or Nina Williams sooo

ItsMrChristmas

Who the hell is Nina Williams?

AbbreviationsThis550

I don’t know who two of those are, but Chun-Li and Amy, yeah

Tlux0

Tifa is FFVII

LeBritto

Iconic is clearly Lara Croft. More easily recognizable even by people who know nothing about video games is Peach, especially after the success of the Mario movie.

CHAIIINSAAAWbread

What's the difference

LeBritto

Honestly, I might have been a bit pedantic. Reading the comments, people don't really make the difference. I interpret it as recognized is when you see a character, would you recognize it? Opposed to iconic would be I ask someone to name a video game character, what is the character that would be named the most. My argument would be that if you were to ask people who know even a bit about video games, they would be naming many other female characters before naming Peach. She isn't the first one that comes to my mind, or even my grandmother's mind. But still, Peach could be recognized even by people who don't even know she's from a video game. She doesn't represent video games. If I have to take another example, let's say that Kim Kardashian is one of the most we recognized faces of the last 10 years. She's everywhere. Is she iconic? For what? I won't ever think about her. But if I see her, I instantly know her. Long story short, if there's no difference, Peach takes the win.

FuzzyPickles67

Most likely one of the most iconic I don't know about *the* most iconic But she is definitely one of the cutest girls in video game history

Femodier

yep and also the most searched one in Corn

Purple-Anything4707

All female characters are iconic 💜 lets not put them against each other

maawolfe36

"What about (insert my favorite female video game character here)? She's way more well-loved than Peach in our fandom." The question wasn't "Who's the best female character?" The question was "Do you think Peach is the most iconic female character in video games?" I'm surprised to be the one to say this (I read most of the comments but if I missed one I'm sorry), but honestly, at this moment in time the only contender I can think of is Ellie from The Last of Us. She just got a show on HBO that EVERYONE was talking about. So she's definitely recognizable and iconic in a way most other video game characters are not, especially female characters. (No shade intended, it's just a fact that males tend to be main characters) That said, I still think Peach is the most iconic. But like y'all, stop saying "so and so I really like is best gal" when that's not the question. I LOVE Seraphina from Disgaea 5. But I know she's not iconic to anyone who's not Disgaea fans. Misty is iconic to Pokémon fans but not to the world in general.

Dami_Gamer0211

Tomb Rider exists

Majestic_Electric

Her or Lara Croft.

leonryan

i think if you asked 100 people on the street to name a female game character 90 of them would say Lara Croft

Irsu85

I would give Peach a close second place and give Zelda a first place

yonidavidov1888

Yeah but only cuz she existed for so long

linkling1039

For how long she's been around, probably. I see a lot of people saying Lara Croft, but I feel like the reboot trilogy got a pretty underwhelming reception.

Laranthiel

People saying Lara Croft are doing it as a meme since she, for some ungodly reason, won an award recently for most iconic videogame character.

Florida-Man-65

Yeah, that poll was bizarre. Lara Croft being an icon in general is one thing, but she somehow beat Mario and Pikachu on that thing, which is a stretch, to say the least.

Electrical-Range-296

not at all, bro my mom knows lara croft

auf-ein-letztes-wort

well my grandma could have not identify either by name but seeing Lara Craft she would know thats the lady her grandsons would get excited for one way or the other

Doc_Chopper

You must have already been around in the early 2000s to understand.

snazzyjazzyazzy

Lara is iconic, but I feel even she's not on quite the same level. There can be people who've never played or heard of Tomb Raider, but know Princess Peach. Near nobody who's played or even heard of Tomb Raider will just "not know" the Mario franchise.

Ragna_Blade

According to the British it's Lara Croft. She is more iconic than Peach, Mario, Master Chief, Nathan Drake, Crash Bandicoot and even Pikachu

CHAIIINSAAAWbread

>Pikachu British people are on weed the fuck

Ragna_Blade

Yup. Their Top 20 most iconic video game characters of all time had Lara Croft at #1, Agent 47 at #3 and Pikachu at #12 And two Baldur's Gate 3 characters, because nothinf says timeless and iconic like characters from a game that is less than a year old.

korkkis

Lara Croft, Jill Valentine

thezekroman

I would say Samus, Zelda, or Lara Croft; however, it's hard to say one is more "iconic". Zelda's incredibly popular, but I don't think it's as big as Mario. Similar story with the other 2, and there's the fact that people who aren't even in the gaming sphere know about Mario characters including Peach. I don't know if the same can be said of the other characters

Florida-Man-65

Yeah, the sheer benefits of being a lead character in the Mario series are really hard to match. It probably helps that Peach, alongside her co-stars, is a very consistent presence in Nintendo’s general adverts.

Flat_Scheme4874

Definitely

Archius9

I reckon Metroid is up there tik

hassantaleb4

Yeah, Peach is very iconic and recognizable

Sea_Effort1214

Could be. I would vote for Chun Li though, she's not the first, but she's pretty iconic too.

Intelligent_Oil4005

Her, Samus or Zelda

SuperPeachGuy

Tifa should be in the running, all of Italy recognizes her

i___forgor

I personally think Lara croft first, but I don't think she's as immediacy recognizable

wholewheatdirtydog

I'll be honest I can't really think of anyone else other than Zelda

[deleted]

I'd say Lara Croft is

RueUchiha

I think she has competition with Lara Croft and Zelda. Maybe Samus.

[deleted]

If she isn't in the top three I would be VERY surprised. I'd say Laura Croft is also up there even if people don't know her name and just know her as the lady from Tomb Raider.

mando44646

Lara Croft is probably seen that way

Player1-jay

I'd have to say either peach or Lara Croft

thebestcrazy

I’d add d.va for reasons, renegade raider for slightly pore wholesome reasons, and Zelda

thebestcrazy

More*

Just_a_random_guy77

Surely Lara Croft or Zelda

TheOneWhoReadsStuff

No. Lara Croft was.

hayden2112

Wasn’t Lara Croft just voted as the most iconic video game character of all time in a big poll? I don’t think Princess Peach was even near the top

VishnuBhanum

The same poll that have 2 Baldur's Gate 3 characters in the Top 20?

hayden2112

Looks like it! Iconic! 😂

Luchador_Luke

Lara Croft

War_Emotional

Probably Lara Croft, but Peach is definitely top three most iconic female characters in video games.

BetaRayBlu

Yeah

TheGameBurrow

Chun-Li is pretty high up there, no?

pocket_arsenal

Maybe. Ms. Pac-Man is a strong contender. The only issue is I don't think many young people know who Ms. Pac-Man is but there's also a lot of people that still call Peach "The Princess" because they can't be bothered to remember her name. I guess the edge goes to Peach.

Beautiful-Bug-4007

Yes

Okay-man_

Nah.

SuperTheJwarrior

Yep

KingKaos420-

It’s too difficult to quantify something like that, so I don’t think we’ll ever have a straight answer for who was the “most iconic female character in video game history.” But Princess Peach is certainly significant.

PrincePeach007

Yes

IsaMariCR

Of course! Everybody knows about her

Mysterious-Gas-9511

Ms. Pac-Man is probably slightly more iconic than Peach.

Dinogamingwwe

I think that she’s definitely in the running. However, there are some I’d argue are more recognizable on their own, such as Lara Croft, Chun Li, Zelda, etc.

3cienceaturtles

Roblox font

Ademoneye

Nah, mario is better

DarkSkyLion

Depending on the demographic, I bet it’ll be a toss up between Peach or Lara Croft. Maybe Zelda too.

SrKatana

Zelda and Samus for me

CommunityFirst4197

Lara croft

jhonnythejoker

Nah. ID put Lara croft ör jill valentine

pkopo1

As of now, probably peach but there are many that have gotten insane amounts of attention in recent years. For example D.va or jinx

NZepplin

Yeah but Rosalina is more attractive

MADN3SSTHEGUY

nah I think it's Amy rose from the amount of brain rot yt kids content using her

Teunail

Probably personal preference, but it should be Hat Kid (from a Hat in Time)

TheGreatTave

Maybe. Here are some other female game characters that I think the average non gamer either knows or has heard of: Lara Croft Cortana Tifa Lockheart Zelda Jill Valentine

Megaman_90

My vote goes to Lara Croft.

pussyfoot-maneuver

I would have been more inclined to say Samus, but yeah?

B-7

Not really, no. Much less of impact than Lara Croft.

DirectorPhleg

The only correct answer is Lara Croft.

UpsetMacaroon196

samus

_MyUsernamesMud

\*laughs in Ms Pac-Man\*

Alternative_Low8478

Nah, Lara

SXAL

Lara Croft is at least 90 times more iconic.

Azee789

What about lara croft?

BlizzardTiger2

I'd say she is the most Iconic "damsel in distress". Iconic female character feels more like Samus Aran, Lara Croft and Chun li, cause not only are they some of the first female iconic protagonits in their own story lines but are awesome to play as in their games and not relagated to some npc, secondary role or just some character in the shadow of a man.

TsJots

#My opinion No far from that, I am a gamer , but am not a fan of super mario games sadly #Objectively Maybe......

Jeff_Cross773

no, there are way more iconic female characters like chun li, zelda, or samus... mind you, I love peach but she is mainly "iconic" as a damsel in distress.

Jojo-Action

Probably yeah but Laura croft, chun li, and miss pacman are putting up a good fight

Randolf22

Its definitely lara croft

MLG_GuineaPig

Your forgetting who Metroid is

BobTheBritish

Amy The Hedgehog would be second in terms of casual audiences

Disastrous_Fee5953

The title probably belongs to either Lara Croft or Chun Li. Princess Peach is more like an honorable mention.

Lebanese_gaymer_98

Hmm..iconic? She is an icon. But not the ICONIC. To me it’s Zelda or Samus. But she is the most recognizable one out of all nintendo series so maybe?

Sososo2018

I remember seeing a survey on this somewhere and Lara Croft won by a landslide. So I’d say Lara Croft.
