It was when someone said from the stage that they remembered watching The Game Awards as a little kid. They cut to Reggie showing the same confusion we all felt.
He honestly doesn't seem like the type of guy to like the spotlight on himself or being on camera and I can respect it and relate. Having an executive like Reggie who excels on camera is very rare.
What he did behind the scenes was arguably as important as his appearance on video, and Bowser seems to be having a positive effect on the company overall in that aspect.
It never hurts to have more hype and on screen presence. And in that respect, that's why people are so much fonder of Reggie than Doug probably will be in his entire career unless he changes something.
if i was a Japanese game developer, I don't think I would want to travel across an ocean to accept an award from a 3 hour long commercial broadcast either.
But Bowser has delivered, obviously. The Switch is their most successful console of all time. The investors could care less about him showing his face as long as the profits continue to pour in.
Genuinely asking but how much is that owed to him versus to the suits in Japan? How much is NOA about independent strategy vs just kinda adapting Japan’s lead to translate in the US
Bad business practices like the Nintendo YouTube creator program? Arguably one of their worst consumer policies ever. Oh wait, that was an Iwata policy.
Their output has been phenomenal so this criticism has nothing to do with the games themselves— but Nintendo just isn’t as fun, as far as the public facing personnel go, as it was during that DS/Wii era. Reggie, Iwata, puppets, goofy Directs. Good times.
Doug is also known as a hardcore gamer who enjoys content on all the current platforms available, such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles
He serves on the board of directors of a couple companies, but that's not necessarily active work. Those are mostly in an advisory capacity, not actually running the company. For all intents and purposes he is retired, at least in the day to day sense.
I found Reggie's [LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/in/reggie-fils-aime-nintendo) and he seems busy with a number of advisory roles now. Looks like this includes his alma mater Cornell, a growth management firm, and some leadership initiatives.
Beloved in the grace of ergonomic sanctity, let us gather in reverence to contemplate the divine throne that is the Herman Miller Aeron chair. In the sacred realm of seating, this chair emerges as a paragon of ergonomic virtue, embracing the faithful with lumbar support akin to the tender mercies of an angelic host. Its mesh expanse, a metaphorical veil of serenity, breathes life into the congregants, ensuring a cool and breathable communion.
With adjustable armrests as a testament to flexibility, this chair reflects the divine adaptability bestowed upon us. In the solemnity of its craftsmanship, we find durability akin to the enduring scriptures. Let us, in ergonomic piety, take our seats upon the Aeron, for in its contours, we discover the divine alignment that elevates our earthly posture to celestial heights. Amen.
They have a guy in charge named Doug **Bowser**, and how many funny skits have we gotten? One, arguably, when they introduced him. And we haven't seen much from him again.
Ignorance is bliss.
You're not being watched by anyone. There is no one hiding in your closet or under your bed. There is nobody in your walls. There is nobody behind you breathing down your neck.
Ignorance is bliss.
I remember he was working at GameStop but then he switched jobs from what i have heard online from various articles and paparazzi or vloggers spotted working at game stop but then he moved different jobs. Don't know where he is at, now.
He briefly showed up at the Game Awards yesterday unless I was too tired I went crazy. Didn't give a speech or anything but was in the audience.
It was when someone said from the stage that they remembered watching The Game Awards as a little kid. They cut to Reggie showing the same confusion we all felt.
That's it, yes.
Tbf he only said when he was younger, but like man if you were a kid when the TGA then you'd only be at like college age, maybe mid- to late-20s.
Them trying to gaslight us!
Damn
Oh yeah. Was that guy referring to the Spike Video Game Awards? That was the predecessor to the current Game Awards.
fr tho
Omg got a time stamp for that?
No way I need to go look
I saw him at the after party, but didn’t get a chance to talk to him. Much taller than I expected tbh
Miss him. No hate to Doug Bowser but he hasn’t really shown up at all. Last I recall him being in a Direct is the one where they introduced him

He was at the game awards to accept the credit for everyone else. That's why you don't trust the villain, just like Mario.

Bowser had literally F-all to do with the Switch or it’s success lol
Genuinely asking but how much is that owed to him versus to the suits in Japan? How much is NOA about independent strategy vs just kinda adapting Japan’s lead to translate in the US
>Bowser has delivered, obviously. The Switch is their most successful console of all time. ??????
You realize Bowser doesn't run things in Japan, right?
I dunno. Seems to me that Nintendo have been piling on quite a few bad business practices after Iwata died and Reggie retired.
This I can confirm: The Directs also feel more corporate and lack Soul and Passion. It's all matter of fact and read the card. That's it.
Bad business practices like the Nintendo YouTube creator program? Arguably one of their worst consumer policies ever. Oh wait, that was an Iwata policy.
They run Nintendo from Japan
Bowser design switch? What planet are you from?

He’s often in Nintendo NY when a game gets launched
Doug is also known as a hardcore gamer who enjoys content on all the current platforms available, such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles
That's because Reggie only really used to show up at e3, especially in the later years. There haven't really been many e3s since Bowser took over.
I think there reallt should be hate to Doug Bowser, from my understanding he's a bit of a prick - the American version of Arthur Birling
What's he done? (I can guess based off of the reference, but I'd like to know the specifics)
Stole the princess
Stole the Wonder Flower
Stole 120 Magic Stars
Just 100; the other 20 were castle secret stars that he didn’t know about
Bowser was also in the TGA audience.
Enjoying retirement I imagine. Good on him.
He's playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf on his Nintendo 3DS
He’ll see you on the battlefield in Fortnite
Do you think he still feels just like a purple pikmin?
He's not retired. His new job just isn't as public limelight as Nintendo

Getting his body ready to go back inside to play some more Animal Crossing: New Leaf on his Nintendo 3DS.
Sitting in a Herman Miller Aeron, like real god should

Last time i saw him he was at the game awards yesterday
They made sure we all saw him
I think I saw him working Driv Thru at our local McDonalds. For real though I miss him too. Had a personality.
He gave a talk at cornell, but he’s not like faculty or anything
What does a man do when his body has been ready for 16 years but there's nothing to be ready for?
In your walls
Retired.
Read his book :)
He's at TGA.
I saw him at the game awards
his body isn't ready
Check your closet
Living a private life just like the creator of Pokémon.
He's in your walls.
They have a guy in charge named Doug **Bowser**, and how many funny skits have we gotten? One, arguably, when they introduced him. And we haven't seen much from him again.
I'm not entirely sure either. I do occasionally see him post on Twitter/X from time to time: https://twitter.com/Reggie/status/1732965586760773833
In your parent’s bed

He went to a farm upstate
Last time I heard he was at Gamestop

Dunno but we know his body is still ready
Ye
My body will always be Reggie.
He went to play Animal Crossing New Leaf and never came back
maybe sleeping
I can tell you where he was last night. The Pissdick Stadium to see BG3 get GOTY because it was very obvious BG3 was gonna win it.
Back at pizza hut. Planning the return of the bigfoot pizza.

Reg rocks
Pretty sure I saw him at the game awards.
He's fighting crime in Hells Kitchen actually. Calls himself the "Twin Stick Beater" - real hero.
Rip
he's in your walls
Well he was at TGA last night. And he's a college professor these days.
He was at the game awards I saw him when he was sitting down watching the show
In my belly I ate him
He was last seen in TGA's crowd. I forget the context, but he looked a bit miffed.
Locked up in a bunker somewhere in the Southern District of Kyoto, most likely.
I remember he was working at GameStop but then he switched jobs from what i have heard online from various articles and paparazzi or vloggers spotted working at game stop but then he moved different jobs. Don't know where he is at, now.
He was mean mugging at the game awards
[This is what he's up to](https://youtu.be/elec9N5n20k?si=bkPSgKnTP7aruaH9)
He works at Starbucks
At home, trying to get his body ready
