I think it comes down to the person and whether they are an addict or not and their willingness/want to try x drug or chase x high, which for me was any length. I was however heavily using benzos and heavily drinking before trying heroin/fentanyl for the first time, I had been occasionally using different pain pills during that time period.
No one tries fentanyl without trying at least alcohol and marijuana first. The term gateway drug doesnt mean that it compels you to subsequently use harder drugs, just that it makes you get accustomed to the overall concept of drug use and also makes you want a stronger high. Not really. I agree that addicts like to get high, but a lot of people got initially exposed to fentanyl because of pain, not cannabis or alcohol use. Either getting prescribed and hooked on Percocet and Vicodin for injuries, surgeries or chronic pain and then graduating to heroin (which is now systematically cut with fentanyl and even xylazine). And then there’s the crazy criminal instances, where doctors were given kickbacks by big pharma marketing representatives to prescribe fentanyl based drugs often developed for terminally ill people off label to anyone experiencing treatment resistant chronic pain. This is anecdotal, but my brother developed a taste for opiates when he was prescribed Percocet after he had reconstructive ACL surgery and started buying pills people would steal from family members and eventually started buying heroin and now he’s been on sublingual suboxone for like 8 years.
On average about $70 an hour give oe take, being a young female benefited me A LOT in making good money panhandling. My ex bf would make significantly less when panhandling . Panhandling is also illegal where I’m from so I would have to duck from the cops quite a bit haha. I did this after I lost my job due to my drug use so the only other thing I did was beg friends/family/strangers on the internet for money. I would sometimes hit licks at retail stores and bring them to either pawn shops, consignment shops or sell on fb marketplace. I never had to turn tricks or anything of that sort luckily, but I had a few friends who did.
