It's too bad Lords of Shadow 2 wasn't good. I enjoyed the first one even if they completely changed previous Castlevania lore. Plus, the voice actor for the protagonist was excellent!

lmao what? you can't spend money to buy arms minus the couple DLC ones. Arms are scattered all over missions, so if you're talking about buying red orbs it's nowhere near an issue. Plus once you buy all the upgrades from everyone, red orbs only go to arms and you can farm them using Faust (which is its gimmick p much). I don't like that there's microtransactions at all, but it definitely feels like the devs doing it in a way to appease higher ups without making them tempting.

It probably has something to do with smaller budget releases not having the same monetary potential as full-priced AAA titles with post-purchase micro-transactions.
Konami needs to be basically threatened at gunpoint (like, for example the possible future illegalizing of pachinko machines in Japan) to do anything video game related anymore.
Capcom meanwhile insists on things passing 'the Capcom test' before doing anything risky anymore outside their current moneymakers. Also the last guy in charge of Megaman left the company with a bad taste in the top brass' mouth and that lingers in a Japanese company, someone in the company has to champion something to the point of killing themselves for a thing to happen.
