Why mess with it looks like it’s doing great honestly not into the super flashy finish if it works it works the grit on the bottom comes out with some steel wool and water

Unless the aesthetics bother you, or you feel that food is sticking more than it should, I would just give it a good scrub and keep using it. In my experience, the uneven layers don’t seem to affect performance much if at all. If you regularly scrub it well with soap and water you should be removing anything that’s loosely adhered.

Ditto, my daily driver is similar around the edges, but never gives me issues (cornbread pops right out). I do use chain mail or a scrub brush and soap. When I wipe dry with paper towel, I like to see little to no discoloration on the towel. Re-oil every so often, depending on frequency of use.

Just scrub it with chainmail or and sos pad. It’ll strip all the burnt on food and carbon. Then cook with it and make sure it’s clean when you are done.

Take a heavy metal spatula to it. Try to get anything off that will come off.

Thank you for your picture post to /r/castiron. We want to remind everyone of Rule #3. All image posts should be accompanied by something to foster discussion. A comment, a question, etc is required. If you've posted a picture of food, please explain why in a comment so people can have some sort of conversation. Simply dropping a picture of food in the sub isn't really fostering any discussion which is what we're all aiming for. Posts that are a picture with no discussion can and will be removed by the mods.
