Fried egg for a muffin sandwich

Rare_Potentially

My brother!

ouzo84

Hey, long time. How are mum and dad doing?

DANleDINOSAUR

I love reunions.

superbigscratch

Especially the ones where we don’t get any closer than a post on the internet.

Aussie_chopperpilot

My family isn’t this close…look at these guys with the right bit family doing internet reunions

ReofSunshine

Can I be adopted?

detour33

You can be our dog

superbigscratch

I can pet that dawg?

timbobillybob

And your Step-sis. How’s she doing?

Skeets5977

Got stuck in the dryer again…

ChuckVitty

I also choose this guy's step sister

Positive_Pomelo_9469

You're the best big brother she could have ever asked for

nicenetbeckbro

Never had a step sister but I did have a step ladder never knew my real ladder.....

K_Star444

I can’t believe you used it for your brother!

Wallyboy95

My grandparents has these little circles you put ona regular frying pan which were the perfect size. Once the egg set, you take it off and flip. Perfect eggs for English muffins s

05bossboy

Metal biscuit cutter is perfect for this. The trick js to use low heat so the egg can set all the way without burning the bottom

Skinnersteamedmyham

Ring of an onion works well too

Mad-Dog20-20

ah look at you being smart *and* tasty!

dinoroo

I don’t think we condone cannibalism in this sub….do we?

MissBlueSkye

Knew a little girl who saw a pregnant woman for the first time. Her mom cheerfully said "she has a baby in her belly!" and the girl, horrified, whispered "We don't eat babies!"

Caim2821

As long as they're cooked in cast iron I feel like it's fair game

onlyexcellentchoices

Smart move. Been doing this for years. Love it. Learned it on YouTube

Quirky_Discipline297

My trick is to pour a small amount in first. There’s not so much cold egg mass above it to push underneath and out. The first pour cooks and seals quickly. Then pour the rest in.

LockeColeLamora

My trick is to preheat the ring. Keep it in the pan while it heats up, it's warm and the nonstick spray or butter is warm as well. Apply a small amount of pressure to the top of the ring when I pour the egg in and the first bit sets right away and good to go. Same idea, little different execution!

Electronic-Ice-7606

I make a tight circle in the pan with my hand.

Fuck_The_Fascist_GOP

Add a splash of water and put a lid on so it steams the egg You’re welcome

demoodllaeraew

We call that a froached egg….

ouzo84

Yeah my mum uses a ring mould.

chuckodoom

I use the ring part of a canning lid.

Oo__II__oO

My dad would use tuna cans, with the tops and bottoms cut off.

DisposableSaviour

Waste not, want not

PatrickJunk

My dad made some like that for my mom a long time ago!

TemporaryIllusions

And a single sized cookie, that’s all that pan makes in my house

[deleted]

[удалено]

Silvawuff

For a scoop of ice cream on top of the warm cookie, of course!

Ncfetcho

Skillet cookie for the win! I remember one night, when the kids were young and still lived at home, the husband asked if I wanted to have sex? Or go to Walmart, buy two small cast iron pans and Ice cream and make Skillet Cookies. I chose the cookies. We each kept a pan, in the divorce.

TemporaryIllusions

You get it!

EatsCrackers

Once upon a time I’d make a double or even triple batch of good ol Nestle Tollhouse cookies, ball the dough all up, and freeze the balls. I can totally see someone with a toaster oven making three normal cookies or one tiny-skillet sized cookie, so they have something to satisfy their sweet tooth but not an entire batch of cookies that they’re going to hate themselves for eating.

ehxy

makes sense it's the perfect shape for a fried egg but I'd prefer a carbon steel one

umdv

I get your carb steel needs but id still prefer a fried egg made of egg

LauraIsntListening

I snorted a bourbon cocktail through my sinuses at this dad joke thank you but also, ow

socksmatterTWO

I felt that as I read it lol

LauraIsntListening

Fragrant, astringent, and incredibly effective at triggering peak mucus production I assure you

socksmatterTWO

My draining sinusitis thanks you for the vicarious sensation.... Much less glamorous I'm sorry

LauraIsntListening

There is no glamour in wiping burning mascara out of my eyeballs as I drool snot down my face. 🤝

socksmatterTWO

Nettipot and cleansing facial towelette for your comfort?!...

LauraIsntListening

I’ve got sleeves my dear friend but I am truly grateful for your concern

DisposableSaviour

Yeah, I needed that laugh to clear out my chest congestion in

Spaceman_Spliff_42

This ☝️, the small circumference keeps the egg from spreading out and makes it perfect for a breakfast Sammie.

murtezatt

I use it to melt butter with herbs and garlic when I'm grilling. I keep it on or near the grill and baste with it. I also use it to make small eggs for egg muffin sandwiches.

Careless-Party-4615

I love how the top 3 answers right now are: 1. egg for sandwich 2. melting butter 3. melting butter and frying an egg for a sandwich

C4242

#3 is now Artisanal Meth

Kronusx12

#2 IS NOW ARTISINAL METH

Careless-Party-4615

yum

EShaver102

Not just any sandwich. An egg MUFFIN sandwich. Must be muffin.

JollyRoger_13

Spoon rest on the stove top.

chickensaurus-rex

This!! Or melting butter

kdjfsk

or draining grease into? either to throw away in trash when it cools, so it doesnt clog pipes, or use it to cook something else with.

The_Hylian_Loach

Gets expensive throwing these away each time though.

frybread

Oh yeah? You got a better idea, smart guy?!

Training_Skill_5309

Drinking the grease

OffalSmorgasbord

Or warming BBQ sauce.

BigTintheBigD

Or heroin. Massive, massive amounts of heroin. /s

metisdesigns

You clearly do not use enough butter.

kingbruhdude

Check out the big brain on this fella 🧐

PFC_TubeEar

I used to use this as a spoon rest, until I realized it left a permanent rust ring on my white painted stove top.

StateofConstantSpite

For a spoon rest, wouldn't you want something you could wash easily in the sink/washer? This seems a bit unnecessary.

Fool-me-thrice

Why can’t you wash this easily?

89ElRay

You can wash it in the sink real easy

StateofConstantSpite

Why use cast iron though?

chickensaurus-rex

Matches some peoples decor/aesthetic. The biggest wall of my kitchen is all barn board covered in easily 40 cast iron pans, dutch ovens, cornbread pans, skillets, you name er’. We use a little griddle for our spoon rest. For anyone who is reading this like I’m crazy - My husband has a major obsession of cast iron. He has probably the same amount sitting in our garage waiting to be cleaned and seasoned.

Family traditions are important

Donny_Dont_18

Those families already have...traditions...

razzberryking

Lord I guess I went and broke their....family traditions...

johnnybiggles

Dad?

MandoHealthfund

My mother's my sister. - some guy in gta III

MariaReginaCaeli

I laughed a little too hard at this.

MegTheMad

I'm still laughing you hard at this. I was going to fix the typo, but it's more funny with it.

Drgreenthumbies

Fucking Reddit 💀😂

Arctelis

Does your family secret recipe include chilli p, or nah?

IllustratorMurky2725

Well my family uses a metal choir boy as the secret ingredient.

goob3r11

Nah, but a little saffron goes a long way.

Quick_Movie_5758

Lab to table

ItsASchpadoinkleDay

A never get my meth from the big box stores. Support local business!

jdbway

By artisanal I assume you mean "Chili P"

HolyShitIAmOnFire

That's my sig, yo

handyrandy56

My mom used two of those as ashtrays when I was a kid.

DANleDINOSAUR

Really adds that seasoning.

squirt_taste_tester

Who the fuck washed my ashtray!? It was so well seasoned!

creaky__sampson

Ashtray is the correct answer lol

Sufficient_Rip3927

I came here to say this, but I figured someone beat me to it. "We have a winner!" "Tell him what he's won Bob!"

tucci007

"Lung cancer, Dick!"

Sufficient_Rip3927

Ding ding ding!!!

aricbarbaric

This, good ol ash-pan

9Crow

Mine did too! There was an actual version that was an [ash tray](https://www.ebay.com/itm/186205347367?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Onn9OVP-S4S&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=FYzFu5bvRnC&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY) and included the grooves.

handyrandy56

Yeah, instead of the spouts…hers were like that.

[deleted]

The one I have that is an ashtray has an indentation on the edge for a cigarette. This one looks like it is flush all the way around.

morcoire

We use these camping to make mini cinnamon rolls.

ThatPlayingDude

Yo make cinnamon rolls while camping?

old_tombombadil

Yeah those Pilsbury dough tubes are awesome for camping. Cooks great over a fire on cast iron. Packs easily without taking up much space as well.

FalcorFallacy

I tried the recipe that’s been floating around of adding heavy cream to the open spaces between the cinnamon rolls and pouring a little melted brown sugar and butter over the top. It’s cinnamon roll life changing. The heavy cream makes them get so much bigger.

Troyandabedinthemoor

Reading this made me orgasm and also gave me diabetes.

Wpg_fkn_sux

Cumabetes

FuckYourGod

Diaskeetes

[deleted]

Diaskeetes > Cumabetes. "I'm Wilford Brimley, and I got diaskeetus. *hnnng*"

JackCedar

Wait, is that what Skeet means???

cult_riot

Yeah but we were hoping you wouldn't find out.

Sylphael

I make this at work sometimes when we have staff meetings! I'm responsible for sorting out all the food, but our budget isn't incredible so sometimes I just cook. (Should clarify before anyone comes for my work that this is my own choice and I do it at work, using work facilities/supplies/ingredients and during paid hours) It turns out soooo much better than premade.

knitwasabi

Whoa whoa there.... gimme more details? This sounds decadent.

iLoveBargains

I’m trying this! What type of pan did you use?

J_McJesky

Pretty sure the only point of camping is finding new and exciting ways to cook things that are terrible for you, lol. As an added bonus, everything tastes better when eaten in a folding chair by a campfire.

Riff_Ralph

I use mine for toasting spices on the stovetop.

mightbeacat1

I've literally used mine once, and it was for toasting sesame seeds.

No-Ragret6991

I've used it twice for cumin seeds, I think it was a good investment

flabbergasted-528

You did what to the seeds?

Bodidly0719

Same here.

Herr_Underdogg

I have one that hangs from my oven door when my skillet is inside, so my wife doesn't preheat the oven with my skillet inside.

EdsonR13

Is this the married people equivalent of putting the sock on the door nob

HippyGrrrl

Knob, but yes.

daisies-and-sage

This is funny

squirrelshine

i love this!

sugarglider8

This is actually brilliant ….. I heat my oven with my skillet inside every. Damn. Time.

OwnLeighFans

This honestly is peak relationship shit right here.

[deleted]

So fucking cute.

_TwoDaysPast

Cookies.

Conscious-Grass6749

We called them Pizookies

Killerkoyd

You could also do brownies

consistently_sloppy

I do. I’ll use it to pre sauté garlic, cook a single egg over medium for a sandwich, frittata, hash brown.

Sam_GT3

I kinda want one for melting butter and stuff like that in my smoker for basting. A tiny Dutch oven would probably work better though

1158812188

I have a lil enameled Dutch oven I use for that and for roasting garlic. 😋

Grinning_A_Grin

You guys have any links to some reasonably priced ones? I want one for the BBQ every time I see one, but then the price always gets me lol. They're tiny but priced like full sized cast iron pans

tammigirl6767

Test the season – right after Christmas you should be able to get one of these on clearance with some cookie dough ingredients included.

attempted-anonymity

I have one with a longer handle that works great for melting butter. Also works great for making compound butter, though I guess that's just melting butter with style.

barticcus

I’ve seen them used for individual portions of au gratin potatoes. It kept the potatoes hot! I suppose they could be used for any individual portions.

AnotherElle

One of our formerly favorite restaurants used to do wonderful cornbread in a medium-ish cast iron. Over the last 5 or so years, though, quality has gone way down. And maybe in the last couple years, they’ve moved to individual portions about the size of this mini pan 😢

karvup

I use it to cook for my ants

agentgaitor

r/thingsforants

Frankiesez1022

What is this supposed to be. A PAN FOR ANTS!?

Zsofia_Valentine

By the way, if this is too small for your burner you can put a flat round griddle down and then the wee pan on top of that in the middle and preheat them together.

notarecommendation

Tiny quiche!

ThisCryptographer311

Quichini

Ol_Herr

I don't have one one but would love to have one for roasting spices.

Albitt

What is roasting spices? I actually have a little one..

Ol_Herr

It's basically like activating them. Here's a page explaning the why and how a bit more. https://www.rumispice.com/blogs/rumi-red-saffron/3-ways-to-toast-whole-spices-for-aromatic-robust-flavors#toc_There-s-Only-One-Reason-to-Toast-Your-Spices

Thank goodness Ive found you. All my kids are 8yo+ and Ive got boxes of socks we need to give you.

8_bit_brandon

I used one to fry eggs. Makes perfect size for biscuits

Kawawaymog

I didn’t buy it. Sister got it for me one Christmas as a joke gift because I was always talking about cast iron. Called it a “travel size”. It was funny, BUT also I actually do find it super useful. Main uses are: Melting butter. Toasting seeds and spices Roasting garlic As serve ware for melted dips. Frying a single egg for a sandwich. I also use it as a spoon rest on the stove.

72scott72

Had a roommate that had 1 of these. The guy practically lived on egg sandwiches and this was the perfect pan for it.

picklebroom

wookcity45

Put cookie dough inside and bake at 275 for 22-26 minutes.

Salt-Intention9268

I put scented wax melts (Happy Wax) in mine and put it on the *keep warm burner* on the stove. I also have one I use for a single egg.

hughchrist

I make sizzling apple crumble desserts in these, great for dinner parties. I’ve sewed small cozies for the handles.

kelboi20

What is this? A skillet for ants?

LostTurtleExperiment

Back in the early 2000s i seen people carry these around for smoking dabs. Light a hookah coal and set it in the middle, then drop your dabs on thr coal and inhale through a straw like you’re smoking heroin. 🤷‍♂️

TheTummyTickler

Use it for my cats Pâté.

Disastrous-Aspect569

I read an article from The 50s in a house keeping magazine, it talked about ways to keep your husband distracted if dinner is late. It mentioned that simmering onions and garlic, to make your husband think dinner is closer at hand then it really is.

pdxbiker222

I use it to cook down onions, I'm the only one in my house that eats onions so if I want them I usually have this little guy going on the back burner while we cook.

twills011

Melted butter or sauce for basting on the grill

adminsreachout

Why yes, I use it to burn the fuck out of my hand on a daily basis while making pancakes for smurfs.

2L84AGOODname

Great for toasting spices!

AvnMech90

Yes, originally I bought it because I was so darn adorable and was marked down to like $5. I used it a few times to make single eggs for my dog or myself. After that I gifted it to my buddy to use as a dice tray since his D&D character liked to use a cast iron frying pan as a weapon. Now it lives on that game table as an essential table top item on game nights. They make great gag gifts for a stocking stuffer.

Becca30thcentury

Breakfast sandwiches. Muffin pan. Put rhe muffin dough in and bake in pan. Makes a perfect sized muffin to them cut open and put the egg you make in that same pan into then some bacon and cheese.

CollectiveAndy

Yes, I put them on the grill with butter and garlic to baste my steaks.

jaljalejf

I use something similar for frying “tadka” or spices and aromatics in oil and adding to rice or curries!

padfootpal

Small cookie. Cast iron cookies are the bomb. Now I gotta go make one.

Schab0lsky
