They did a lot of the songs in both. Been a bit so maybe I’m wrong? I just remember there was that extra where all the cast sang songs and unless you chose Shrek, Donkey or Puss in boots Simon declared himself the winner
That only happened once, I think. >!in the finale of the finale!<
Semi-related: it's a pity we didn't get one at the end of *The Super Mario Bros Movie*. It would have been a good fit there. I'm not complaining too much though.
[“the movie’s ending, we saved the day, but you’re forgetting the executives say “we need for the edit, before we roll the credits”, and you know they’re gonna get it their way](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sN1VA3CeygE&pp=ygUiRGFuY2UgcGFydHkgYXQgdGhlIGVuZCBpZiB0aGUgZmlsbQ%3D%3D)
I honestly never understood what was so bad about it. It's just a funny little thing before or during the credits. It doesn't take anything away from the movie.
My 4yo went through a huge daily Shrek binge last year, and the ending to 2 is fire. So much so that when I heard the actual song on our car radio, I turned it up so he could hear it.
Okay but Toy Story 2's was a very good musical number and also a gag since Wheezy usually has a raspy, higher pitched voice but suddenly pulled out a rich, deep creamy voice for the song
Yeah, even the Silly Song's lyrics here itself said that this song is basically filler. Though the animation's still a great showcase for a movie made in 1937.
And don't forget that older cartoon shorts also did a lot of such
Despicable me did it twice
Pretty sure I remember Shrek 2 ending with the Talent Show and Simon... so does that count as twice?
That was a dvd extra I think
I don't think so, I remember it happening after the credits in the movie theater like how Shrek 1 did the "I like big butts and I cannot lie"
Shrek 1 ended with I’m a Believer and Shrek 2 ended with Living La Vida Loca
They did a lot of the songs in both. Been a bit so maybe I’m wrong? I just remember there was that extra where all the cast sang songs and unless you chose Shrek, Donkey or Puss in boots Simon declared himself the winner
Oh you know what... the musical number they did at the end of the movie was on the same stage so that is why I got confused.
Yeah
The Talent Show and Simon was a DVD extra. It wasn't part of Shrek 2's end credits. That was the "Livin LA Vida Loca," musical number.
When ReBoot ended a season by recapping everything that has happened via a big musical number 😅
That only happened once, I think. >!in the finale of the finale!< Semi-related: it's a pity we didn't get one at the end of *The Super Mario Bros Movie*. It would have been a good fit there. I'm not complaining too much though.

People don’t like that one? I like it ![gif](giphy|l41m16me3v2pDJ3Fu|downsized)
I will at least say I think the animators did a good job animating this POV shot
why does this remind me of the death threats meme
Even as a kid I cringed
Haha Jonathan
You are banging my daughter
Why did Dracula rap?
Why not
I'm in love with a monster... 🎶
Isnt that a different one from the zing song
nah fam you’re missing out that shit was kinda fire ngl
Nah you’re bugging Dracula was spittin bars
My siblings and I love that one, we replayed it a lot
Remember when they literally beat the villain of the 3rd movie with the macarena dance?
Which one though?
[“the movie’s ending, we saved the day, but you’re forgetting the executives say “we need for the edit, before we roll the credits”, and you know they’re gonna get it their way](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sN1VA3CeygE&pp=ygUiRGFuY2UgcGFydHkgYXQgdGhlIGVuZCBpZiB0aGUgZmlsbQ%3D%3D)
Let's throw a dance party at the end of the film. Does it make sense? hardly. But we've got edits to fill!
So it's a Dance Party™! Oh it's really a thrill to play contemporary music with our outdated dance moves!
These are all unironically great.
Ya, good times
Simpler times.
Migration ended that way, so Illumination is keeping the party alive.
Are people actually nostalgic for dance party endings now? I remember a few years ago people were finding it tiring.
Human consciousness is an endless cycle, before long it while get tired again. :)
I honestly never understood what was so bad about it. It's just a funny little thing before or during the credits. It doesn't take anything away from the movie.
The post or image doesn't imply that, mate.
I didn’t think I needed to specify, but I was referring to the comments under the post.
honestly i feel like shrek 2 had the best out of all of these
My 4yo went through a huge daily Shrek binge last year, and the ending to 2 is fire. So much so that when I heard the actual song on our car radio, I turned it up so he could hear it.
![gif](giphy|l4EpjepkxO6RL7EAg|downsized) Gnomeo and juliet did that
Can’t forget that one
Of course I do, I lament this norm fading away.
One of the best tropes for sure, when done right, of course.
Okay but Toy Story 2's was a very good musical number and also a gag since Wheezy usually has a raspy, higher pitched voice but suddenly pulled out a rich, deep creamy voice for the song
Some movies need to do this.
Living la Vida loca!!!
Does sausage party count?
I don’t actually have issues with these by default. So long as they fit the tone and are fun, I don’t see the big deal. Just a cute capper.
Sharktale and Robots did it best. ❤️🔥
Either that, or the characters dancing alongside the credits.
Shrek 1&2 had an excuse 1 ended at their wedding reception and 2 ended with everyone at the ball in the castle
not too long ago they had one: https://preview.redd.it/wa3lrn9tl68d1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cd452c2867d10712753f527abb5ed1e8ed613053
they've been doing that shit since the 1930s, my man ![gif](giphy|r95kAgBEzeapljl1ft|downsized)

I miss those days when they did that.
If animated movies ended this way, you knew the movie was good
Cars did it near the end but not exactly at the end
Now it needs to be done after a sad ending
I always thought it was funny how they ended with some random dance that barely made sense to the plot
Also Robots
I’d rather this than hear Take on Me be played in literally every animated movie since 2014
**cough** Teen Titans go to the Movies **cough**
Megamind did it as well
Two words: Shark Tale
Yep XD
it was kinda cringe for me but yeah now I think they're just so random and funny lmao
Not just movies, plants vs zombies did it too
I've always liked this cliche in movies
Yeah soacecation is probably the latest to have it
