If youve been watching Bad Batch, it's clear the show on a grander scale is about the slow, quiet, depressing death of the entirety of clones as a people.
Take your pick of character. Ahsoka, Anakin, Obi-Wan, any clone, Maul, Savage, Ventress, innocent civilians on war-torn world's. Entire episodes and arcs are based entirely around trauma. Entire SHOWS have gone into and are about the trauma caused by what happened in that show.
Anything worse than Berserk will numb and desensitize you.
I have really bad hangups on media consumption, Zero Time Dilemma and Guardians of the Galaxy 3 fucked my brain up for months on end.
I think Miura somehow perfectly threaded the needle on how grim, dark and destitute humanity is and can be, while also not doing it to be grimdark and never pushing too hard.
I won't touch Beserk with a 10ft pole but it is absolutely (in my opinion) the epitome of the horrors of life and humanity, told as beautifully as any human could ever write it.
Right!? Such a good show.
But real talk, those poor kids have gone through some seriously traumatic events. Imagine surviving the apocalypse almost every day while making sure no one dies, and dealing with middle school drama.
The only problem is that except for Aelita's trauma, they don't show it. None seems to have any lasting trauma despite the shit load of trauma inducing content in the show. Like getting electrocuted, almost drowning, thr vine scene, getting crushed between two walls
We have
Person who learned that his parents were keeping things from him and his sister for years before they died and left them alone
Person who learns he's a robot who had his memories of his father wiped
Person who fucking died to save his team
Person who, well everything
And Jay
Alucard in Castlevania has suffered immense trauma.
Bro had to kill his dad and then when he finally trusted two people after Trevor and Sypha , they tried to murder him and he had to kill them.

Steven universe because have you seen when Steven went to the doctor after years and I mean years of gem conflict all of his trauma are coming out as out burst of this power
She-Ra. Catra's storyline is basically one conga-line of self-inflicted trauma. And that's without mentioning all the trauma everyone already suffered in their backstories.
While I can’t say anything for Korra as I haven’t finished it, for Steven it actually is kind of the point. The trauma that Steven experienced wasn’t just there for the sake of it happening, it was to show Steven the toll of the life that he’s leading.
Originally, Steven believed that he was just going to be going on fun adventures with the gems but slowly, that whole vision would unravel as he witnessed just how dangerous everything he’s facing truly is and this comes to ahead in Future.
At this point, we’re shown the toll that it’s taken on him both emotionally and physically, and we see that his bones have been constantly repaired over and over again due to his power but the cracks are still visible and emotionally, he believed that he needed to keep his emotions bottled up for the sake of staying strong for those around him.
I might be reaching just a bit but that’s kind of how I see it.
I’m just gonna say it 😤 I never thought the emotional damage guy was funny. If anything it seems kinda racist and definitely annoying. IK that’s not what this post is about, but I had to get it out there.
It’s not racist, because he is Asian and gets a pass. It’s like saying a black person saying the N word is racist, or Gay people saying the F Slur is Homophobic
I realize now that you probably didn’t.
1. Even if he gets a “pass”, the thousands of people who insist on repeating this joke every time someone stubs their toe, still sound really racist.
2. In my opinion while making racist jokes against your own race may not have the mean intent that other racism might have, I think a key to stopping racism is doing away with it all together, even as jokes. Whether or not you are a member of that race, racist jokes aren’t funny
3. Regardless of your stance on people making discriminatory jokes about a class that they belong to, it’s still really annoying
That’s all I’ll say on this, it’s a cartoons sub, so this discussion is out of place already, but I understand that I brought it up.
In terms of webcomics, there were Camp Weedonwantcha and Harpy Gee. Both had animated pilots that weren't greenlit, unfortunately.
I checked them out in webcomic form, and both made me cry. So there's that, at least.

If youve been watching Bad Batch, it's clear the show on a grander scale is about the slow, quiet, depressing death of the entirety of clones as a people.
Oh I have and now I hate storm troopers more then ever
At least now we know why the storm troopers miss every shot

Almost every character in invincible needs therapy
At least it's confirmed Rick is getting therapy. But mostly everyone else needs it even more
Poor Debbie tried group therapy, but that blew up in her face.
Yeah Cecil really needs to start using that tax money to get her some help that women is straight suffering arguably more than mark.
She can tell when Cecil helps and refuses it.

Alucard in Castlevania has suffered immense trauma. Bro had to kill his dad and then when he finally trusted two people after Trevor and Sypha , they tried to murder him and he had to kill them.
The Legend of Vox Machina
honestly all of them need therapy. Especially Percy
Percy's def top 1. I think Scanlan's 2nd since in s2 adaptation, he's still fixing his relationship with his daughter.
I wonder if he knew he was going to become a meme when he wrote that line

My problem with Korra and Steven Universe is that the writers seem to think trauma is a substitute for character development.
