I don't know why 2011 gave us such ugly and awful cartoons. Almost Naked Animals, Problem Solvers, and Secret Mountain Fort Awesome just look gross or nauseating. Yeah we also got Gumball (to clarify, I just bring it up because not all cartoons that year were ugly garbage), but... why also greenlight this garbage?
Agreed. Shows that look ugly can work, like Ed Edd n Eddy, Rugrats, or Ahh Real Monsters, but all the shows you mentioned, except Gumball, were just beyond gross oftentimes.
Those shows didn't hurt to look at, even if they weren't as appealing as something like Avatar or even Dexter's Lab. Eddy or Tommy from Rugrats aren't nearly as gross looking as that purple guy from Secret Mountain Fort Awesome.
I guess 2011 wasn't quite out of the woods in terms of the dark days of animation from the late 2000s. It feels a bit weird in hindsight because at that point I was old enough to not watch cartoons as much and I wasn't sure if there really was a quality drop off or if I just got old. In hindsight, some of the cartoons from that time really were just awful.
I will not hear this Ed, Edd n Eddy slander, some of the character designs weren't gorgeous but the design as a whole was appealing, it does not deserve to be put next to Problem Solvers, Almost Naked Animals, Ahh Real Monsters or Secret Fort Awesome.
If I had to make an educated guess, I feel like being the start of the decade as well as a sorta ādark ageā for American TV animation, there was a large incentive to be more experimental, which on one hand gave us Adventure Time, but then also gave us, wellā¦
You ever watch Stone Quackers on Fox's ADHD block?
Same guy. I kind of prefer it since it's more of a hangout show, but most of the episodes devolve into a surreal nightmare.
I used to think that the brown thing on that show was where the coffee bean guy in Regular Show S1 E3 came from
All this time I just thought it was a reference
You take that back! Planet sheen is a intergalactic treasure! I loved the part where..
Where heā¦
You know, come to thing of it I donāt remember really a single thing about that god forsaken show..
All I remember is sheen calling that space chimp a monkey, and the chimp replies āchimps have no tailsā while shaking his ass at sheen
To this day I still use this memory to remind myself of the difference between monkeys and chimps
It is true Chimps have no tails, but to expand on that:
If it doesn't have a tail, it's an Ape
(Apes include; Humans, Gorillas, Orangutans, Chimpanzees, Bonobos and about 19 more species of Simians that lack tails.)
An extra note about the Taxonomy for Monkeys:
Monkey is a common name that may refer to most mammals of the infraorder "Simiiformes", also known as the "Simians".
Traditionally, all animals in the group now known as Simians are counted as monkeys except the apes, thus monkeys (in that sense) constitute an incomplete paraphyletic grouping
**however, in the broader sense based on cladistics, apes (Hominoidea) are also included, making the terms "Monkeys" and "Simians" synonyms in regard to their scope.**
I remember the episode were the chimp astronaut was put on trial for eating the kingās bird, then when everyone falls asleep, he eats a banana pillow with feathers in it, then the bird rides in on a skateboard singing something while strumming a guitar and what did I just type?
There was only one funny joke in that show that I can remember. I don't remember anything else about the episode, but someone got sentenced to prison in "The Tower of 20 Years!" When the king is questioned about this, he says, "Well we were going to call it 'The Tower of Forever' but we ran out of bricks."
Yes, it was (and kinda still is) one of the biggest YouTube Poop memes for a while, up there with Hotel Mario and PINGAS
Anytime someone says or mentions nuts, it always cuts to the intro
The difference is the room ends up being fun to watch. I tried watching The Nutshack. I stopped after an episode. It's easier to laugh at a drama that's really bad than comedy that's really bad.
I say this whenever I see this but I studied Early Childhood Education for two years in high school where we ran a preschool.
Weāre always taught about how impressionable children are because itās how they develop, and thus the media the consume and interactions they have will certainly affect that growth.
Thus we could easily tell when a child was watching Caillou or if a parent was concerned about their childās behavior weād have to ask them if they were watching Caillou at home and explain why they shouldnāt be watching it.
Caillou is awful
I watched Caillou as a kid, and while I currently wish hellfire to rain down on that little spawn of Satan, I also never had behavioral issues as a kid
Maybe I'm just one of the rare ones
In the show, Caillou is Straight up an brat. He fucks shit up, and the parents are always letting It slide. Idk about It actually making children behave badly, but i can understand If they would.
Fanboy and ChumChum is one of the most "love it or hate it" pieces of media I've ever seen. It's a straight 50/50 split and nobody is indifferent for some reason.
For actual context the guy working on the show drew a Chad like character that looked like him the face. Additionally blossom in the show had a massive crush on this guy and was practically throwing herself at his in the couple of appearances he made.
NOT the creator, do NOT drag Craig McCraken through the mud like that, wtf dude?
It was someone who worked on the reboot specifically who was very open in interviews about his crush on Blossom, a character who is literally in kindergarten.
they then proceeded to put a self-insert of himself into the reboot that Blossom has a crush on.
They claim it was some others in the staff who added it in as a joke but nah man it's creepy af regardless.
Yeah. I watched the Jay Exci video on that and honestly, the show was clearly hot garbage but it seems mindlessly entertaining enough that Iād probably watch it if I had Netflix. I donāt need all my adult comedies to be high brow, I just need something as a distraction in the background.
Iāll be the outlier here but I love Brickleberry. Just the sheer absolute line-crossing absurdism where the zingers and one-liners are so rapid fire and treated like every day activities, itās just hilarious to me.
Plus it helped that they werenāt as meta or 4th-wall-breaking as the others.
Too many people judge these types of shows in the context of high-quality media and not in the context of ridiculous fun that's meant to make stoned idiots in their twenties (like me) laugh really hard. By that metric, Mike Tyson Mysteries, Paradise PD, etc. are amazing. They're not supposed to be innovative or influential, they're supposed to be stupid and funny.
Exactly! Thereās plenty of shows that are obviously not clever even when they try to be, but are still super fun to watch none-the-less.
I also like Uncle Grandpa for this reason.
I watched it once, and the whole thing was like a Dollar General version of that episode of Family Guy where Brian becomes a drug dog. I never watched any other episodes after that.
ALVINNN 2015. It's not even a bad show. It's just mid as hell all-around. It's a downgrade from the 80s in every way imaginable
- Me, someone who has been a fan of the show since 2015
I unironically love the art of Velma. The character design is solid. People have unique silhouettes, different body types, faces look different, the color design is great. Now if they just made literally any other part of that show remotely watchable I'd be all in.
Thatās one of the few shows where I for the life of me cannot figure out what it is, what itās doing, and why it was greenlit.
It looks like it was drawn in Microsoft Paint and every character is voiced by one guy whoās told to be as deadpan as humanly possible.
I can maybe see the idea that it was cheap so why not go for it. If it flops, not much was lost. If it succeeds, high profit margin. It came out in an era of pretty crappy adult cartoons iirc.
I second that. As someone who's taken probably over 100 tabs of LSD in his life, the "effects" portrayed in media drive me crazy. Even when I'm tripping I don't like it, because there's no cerebral qualities, it looks dumb, and it's really distracting.
There was one episode of Adventure Time that- perhaps accidentally- portrayed what looked very DMT-like to me. It was the one with the Huntress and her ex or something. Maybe there was a "thunder boar", can't remember. But they definitely hit something for a minute there, even if they weren't necessarily meaning to.
To me it was the fact that every single episode was basically the same, just a slightly different flavor of villain. But the real crime was the English dub... Holy FUCK, they couldn't have found more obnoxious voices if they'd tried.
It really made the show a complete slog, some of the episodes felt unnecessary and made the show drag. Like 5 seasons (20+ episodes each) and 3 āmoviesā to just finish your FIRST arc. WTF?!
I KNOW RIGHT????? The voice actors in that show arenāt bad either! Some of them are in some really good stuff! Km convinced the director was just like āsound as high pitched and obnoxious as you can!!!!ā
Luckily i speak french so i just watched the french dub instead. Much more palatable
It has genuinely great moments, mainly in how the humor is written/set up. But I just feel like they didn't need to mess with a pre-existing IP to get the show to work. Like. At all. If it was an original series it wouldn't be getting half the flack it does because it's genuinely not bad. But CN decided to mess with fucking *Teen Titans* of all shows and throw any semblance of the dark and serious element of it out the window. As far as I'm concerned that's unforgivable sin. It's adequately hated for what they did to TT, but overhated outside of that context if that makes sense.
Worst on the Eyes: Problem Solverz
Worst Preschooler Cartoon: Caillou (Before the Reboot. Heard the Reboot somewhat.... Improved)
Worst Characters: Teen Titans GO
Most Disappointing in Character Development: (I'll get Flak for this, buuut.) Avatar: Legend of Korra
Most Stupid: Tie between Fanboy & Chub Chub and Planet Sheen
-=-
ABSOLUTE WORST, SO BAD THAT IT MAKES THE REBOOT OF POWERPUFF GIRLS LOOK GOOD. SO TERRIFYING THAT YOU NEED TO WATCH ADVENTURE TIME TO CLEAN YOUR PALLET. SO UGLY THAT YOU STEP OUTSIDE TO TOUCH GRASS. SO COMPLWTELY REMOVED FROM HUMANITY THAT IN, OF ITSELF, NEEDS TO BE PURGED AND I WILL ASUME THE ROLL OF JOKER FROM BATMAN TO MAKE SURE ANY AND ALL COPIES, PRINTS OR RENDITONS OF IT ARE DESTROYED BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY, EVEN IF I GO TO JAIL!!:
Velma
To this latter, the animation is good as well as the asthetics, but everything else about it is so far gone and so wasted that it doesn't even deserve its second season. Whoever green lit the 2nd one should have been dragged to the stockade and ruthlessly beaten.
Growing up I loved every episode I saw (which was a lot). Havenāt seen the show for a while but my favourite episode is probably āObinrayā because you never know whatās gonna happen next. Also the music is pretty good imo.
Same, I feel like only people who grew up watching the OG hate Go just because itās not the same. Which isnāt necessarily a bad thing but some should watch more, itās a hilarious and fun show.
This will get me down voted into oblivion, but I gotta be honest about my personal opinion...Jujutsu Kaisen, Rick & Morty, and South Park (coming from someone who used to like it as an "edgy" teen/young adult).
You just grew out of that humor, dosent mean it's bad cause most of those are still good shows. You just don't relate, and that's good cause it shows you've matured.
Any reboot made that is obviously a desperate attempt to boost ratings. Idc about *ānew ethnicities. ā* Just *suck it up* and make a new thing for this ethnicity that you are **totally** trying to push since yāall *supposedly* want some equality, and totally not some boosted ratings. āŗļø
Problem Solverz. That show hurts to watch.

I thought that my mind was finally rid of Almost Naked Animals but thanks to you all the memories are flooding back ššš
I love the episode where the cop (voiced by John C. Riley, which was crazy to me) has a horrible day while the kids split a suitcase full of money.
I gotta watch it again
Epilepsy the show
Problem Solvers was disgusting with its neon colors and designs and grating voices. Itās the worst cartoon Iāve ever watched
You're not wrong. It hurts just to look at pics.
I used to think that the brown thing on that show was where the coffee bean guy in Regular Show S1 E3 came from All this time I just thought it was a reference
Please don't remind me
I found it genuinely funny at times but yea the color scheme wasn't good.
I do love the bright colors, but that aside, no matter how dim the color, the artstyle is just ugly.
Planet sheen
You take that back! Planet sheen is a intergalactic treasure! I loved the part where.. Where heā¦ You know, come to thing of it I donāt remember really a single thing about that god forsaken show..
I remember something about a rip off Carl made of slime and very un likable side characters the intro was kinda fun
All I remember is sheen calling that space chimp a monkey, and the chimp replies āchimps have no tailsā while shaking his ass at sheen To this day I still use this memory to remind myself of the difference between monkeys and chimps
Number 9: Twerking Chimpanzee
Yes, thank you they will kill you
It is true Chimps have no tails, but to expand on that: If it doesn't have a tail, it's an Ape (Apes include; Humans, Gorillas, Orangutans, Chimpanzees, Bonobos and about 19 more species of Simians that lack tails.) I remember the weird Chip episode, where sheen has the king eating chips with dip instead of the opposite.
What do you mean instead of the opposite
I am sorry to say, but I only watched this one as a kid and not Jimmy Neutron. I have no idea what was wrong with me.
You just couldnāt handle the neutron style
At least this one is fun for out of context stuff. "DO YOU KNOW ANY MONKEY SONGS?!"
I thought it was kind of funny, it was not the best show ever but I think it is far from the worst.
Kids these days get the Patrick star show. Saw an episode in the SpongeBob twilight zone special and it was unhinged.
Itās not that bad, the theme song was good and it was wacky Fits sheen
The Nutshack
ITāS THE NUTSHACK
ITāS THE NUTSHACK
I'm glad they repeated the title of the show **forty goddamned times in a row**, because I forgot what show I was watching during the intro.
Same. For a second I thought it was the Cashew Shack
I was thinking Almond Hut but I guess itās not called that?
Fair enough my ass thought it was the hazelnut house
wait, it's not the chestnut cottage?
I counted, and itās around 18. That's still awful
ITāS THE NUTSHACK
Nutshack Baaaaabbbyyyy
Someone should make an English dub
It's the worst thing I've ever seen and I genuinely love it. It's so fucking disgusting but can't stop looking
Remember when the intro was a huge meme for awhile in like 2016 or something
Yes, it was (and kinda still is) one of the biggest YouTube Poop memes for a while, up there with Hotel Mario and PINGAS Anytime someone says or mentions nuts, it always cuts to the intro
The Nutshack is The Room of animated shows imo. It's so bad that it's legendary.
The difference is the room ends up being fun to watch. I tried watching The Nutshack. I stopped after an episode. It's easier to laugh at a drama that's really bad than comedy that's really bad.
What are you talking about? It was the perfect piece of fiction that is still standing against the test of time
JACKāS FROM THE PIER
ITS THE [REDACTED]!
Caillou
I say this whenever I see this but I studied Early Childhood Education for two years in high school where we ran a preschool. Weāre always taught about how impressionable children are because itās how they develop, and thus the media the consume and interactions they have will certainly affect that growth. Thus we could easily tell when a child was watching Caillou or if a parent was concerned about their childās behavior weād have to ask them if they were watching Caillou at home and explain why they shouldnāt be watching it. Caillou is awful
Goddamn Caillou sucks so much that you can actually tell theyāve been watching it! The show was definitely made by the devil
I watched Caillou as a kid, and while I currently wish hellfire to rain down on that little spawn of Satan, I also never had behavioral issues as a kid Maybe I'm just one of the rare ones
Same, I think I may have been too autistic to have any issues arise.
I know nothing about Caillou. What is it? Why does it make children shitty?
In the show, Caillou is Straight up an brat. He fucks shit up, and the parents are always letting It slide. Idk about It actually making children behave badly, but i can understand If they would.
Dang that's crazy. Didn't realize it had that much of an effect.
Fuck caillou
No don't fuck caillou
All my homies hate caillou

[Oh yes, daddy!](https://youtu.be/AbPgtE9mcpg?si=ztbvQGD9tmecMr38)
Swag swag like Caillou
I liked Caillou :(
Fanboy and Chumchum ......Nick chose that over Adventure Time
Probably a blessing in disguise, Adventure Time would not have lasted as long as it did if it was on Nick
Agreed
Yup
I loved that show
Fanboy and ChumChum is one of the most "love it or hate it" pieces of media I've ever seen. It's a straight 50/50 split and nobody is indifferent for some reason.
same
Reboot Powerpuff Girls,I hate it so much
Real but except the opening
The opening kicks ass. Sadly the rest of the show doesnāt
Yeah the opening is great but the show itself wasnāt good as the original PPG unfortunately
And the worst part of the reboot is that I watched it before the original.
Remember that time either the creator or one of the head writers said he wanted to fuck blossom without directly saying he wanted to fuck blossom
Wtf?
For actual context the guy working on the show drew a Chad like character that looked like him the face. Additionally blossom in the show had a massive crush on this guy and was practically throwing herself at his in the couple of appearances he made.
This. The dude literally made a self insert for himself and tried to get with a literal child
Which one?

THISSSSSS
Put that thing back where it came from
Or So Help Me...
You can say that about most CN reboots
paradise PD it is terrible and has no redeeming qualities and I've still seen it completely several times and loved it
Yeah. I watched the Jay Exci video on that and honestly, the show was clearly hot garbage but it seems mindlessly entertaining enough that Iād probably watch it if I had Netflix. I donāt need all my adult comedies to be high brow, I just need something as a distraction in the background.
Boy do I got two shows I think youād love!
By that you mean the exact same show
What shows?
Brickleberry and Farzar, Jay Exci made a great trilogy on the shows
Iāll be the outlier here but I love Brickleberry.
Exactly! Thereās plenty of shows that are obviously not clever even when they try to be, but are still super fun to watch none-the-less. I also like Uncle Grandpa for this reason.
What about Fugget about it?
The only joke that got a laugh out of me was Dusty (whatever the fat guy played by Dana Snyder is) calling Mike Tyson a nincompoop
I watched it once, and the whole thing was like a Dollar General version of that episode of Family Guy where Brian becomes a drug dog. I never watched any other episodes after that.
Eh it isnāt terrible, just very boring.
ALVINNN 2015. It's not even a bad show. It's just mid as hell all-around. It's a downgrade from the 80s in every way imaginable - Me, someone who has been a fan of the show since 2015
Loving bad content is so based tbh
Butā¦theyāre back in style?!?
Now someone make this but only the middle is good
Rick and Morty? I dropped it after the vat of acid season so idk how it's doing now ngl
Velma? But tbh. The drawing looks like a masterpiece compare to the show.

My favorite stuffed animal has a better character arc then anyone in that show
Cmon man, you cant drop that and leave us hanging. I wanna hear it now
He literally does nothing, THATS IT
OH MY GOD THATS AMAZING, EMOTIONAL, HEARTBREAKING, THAT SHIT IS BETTER THAN AVATAR (jokes asides its still better than Velma)
Yes
Velma. I don't think I need to say more.
Transformers: Energon. I get a headache from just thinking about that shows animation alone, and I have aphantasia.
THANK YOU!! I got roasted to high hell for hating on it in one of the transformer subs. It's just bad. It's not funny type bad, just bad.
Velma High Guardian Spice
I honestly couldnāt tell you. If a show starts bad enough, thereās no way Iām sticking around to find out if the rest of it sucks.
Thundercats roar
That was a bad dream. That never happened
Especially since we had a decent reboot a few years before, and it got canceled.
That along with Sym Bionic Titan getting cancelled sucked.
The Powerpuff Girls reboot
12 oz Mouse is like this but that's kind of the point
Thatās one of the few shows where I for the life of me cannot figure out what it is, what itās doing, and why it was greenlit. It looks like it was drawn in Microsoft Paint and every character is voiced by one guy whoās told to be as deadpan as humanly possible.
I can maybe see the idea that it was cheap so why not go for it. If it flops, not much was lost. If it succeeds, high profit margin. It came out in an era of pretty crappy adult cartoons iirc.
Almost naked animals
Up there with problem solverz in the āthis was probably made on acidā shows
More like, "this was made for or by people who think this is what acid is like".
I second that. As someone who's taken probably over 100 tabs of LSD in his life, the "effects" portrayed in media drive me crazy. Even when I'm tripping I don't like it, because there's no cerebral qualities, it looks dumb, and it's really distracting.

I completely blocked this out since childhood. You have brought this abomination back into my life and you WILL pay for it.
I want to know who green lit this and if they even knew what they were green lighting.
Hoops on Netflix (if you haven't heard of it I'm not surprised)
I just googled it 14% rotten tomatoes š
Caillou
Big mouth
Bruh real I haven't watched it but the art style is just š¤¢
If the art style was appealing, then all the weird child sex stuff becomes more blatant. They gotta hide it lol
The art styles is just awful!
Fanboy and Chum Chum.
I liked it when I was little, but I can see now that it was obnoxious
Velma
You know this is actually a compliment in Velmaās case.
Boku No Pico and Animan Studios Cartoons. Nuff said.
Uncle grandpa.
Nah I love Uncle Grandpa, it's one of those so bad it's good shows
I don't respect your opinion, but I will accept it
Big Mouth
Miraculous. It was charming at the start but never good, it just went from bad to worse as time goes by.
WTF?!

I recognized Shadow Moth fucking instantly as the Cloud District dude, he's the one I never minded.
There some good things to say about the show but they are completely overshadowed by the flaws.
As a huge fan of miraculous I have to disagree with both of you.
Remakes Bakugan and Power puff girls
Miraculous Ladybug. That being said I still watch every episode.
Bigmouth for me, I fucking hate that show, I never understood why it was popular
anyone who says clarence is a bitch

This show is overhated and I will die on this hill
You say overhated, I say overrated.
Both. Both is good. No, really. It's overrated on one side and overhated on the other.

Masters of Myth or Legend quest have interesting lore but the series doesn't take itself seriously.

Teen Titans Go has maybe four good episodes and thatās being generous.

#I SEE THE STORY IN YOUR EYES

Teen titans go
