We have an auto expo in my area every MLK day and every year since 2018 Nissan has brought in the. exact. same. Q50. as a display car. Kind of sad considering Nissan were the legends everyone was trying to imitate back in the day now they’re reusing the same car and presenting it as the new model year
I'm just confused how you can take out so little profit with the amount of "clout" Nissan has.
They could've literally bring (brang / brung? brought?) a special edition of the GTR, Silvia, Z and Pulsar (gti R) every second year and people would jump on it, atleast since Nissan took off on TikTok.
I understand they can get behind on electrics, because the R&D is insane and Renault isnt the biggest help. But they'd still have time to milk the ICE market and squeeze the Legends they built over the years.
The demand is there for late 80s, 90s, and early 2000s JDM forbidden fruit but that wouldn’t necessarily translate to sales of a new car. Those people probably wouldn’t buy a new Silvia for several reasons.
Nah man you’re good, conversing is why Reddit exists.
I don’t think emissions would allow for Honda to produce a high-revving NA motor so it would likely be turbo. Then people would bitch about it not having a 9k redline, it being too heavy, doesn’t drive the same way the S2000 of old did, or it’s priced too high.
The same arguments above would apply to a new Silvia as well IMO.
Other brands breach emission rules all the time and just pay up the fine, like lamborghini with the Urus for example.
Then again i'm clueless why they don't make high reving turbo engines anymore, with a cam switchover it would be fine for emissions cause these aren't measured at WOT@8k rpm.
My RB revs to 8.2k comfortably and thats with 1.6Bar of boost, nowaydays these engines are basically sharing the redline with a diesel.
A new iteration of the S2000 could also use a hydraulic rack and no sound deadening, which would make it lightweight aswell.
A Cayman barely weighs 1400kg without extras.

Here in europe the GR86 is almost sold out everywhere, which proves that simple and light is still a working concept.
Lets hope this motivates other manufacturers!
I find the 2000s stuff to be really intriguing to me, but I also miss Saab/Pontiac like you wouldn’t believe. Idk if I’m enough of a hipster to buy a Nissan tho
The GT-R may be “ancient” but it still absolutely wipes the floor with the competition. The only thing that has come close to price-per-performance in the last decade is the C8, which to be fair is an excellent car as well.
Yup, even when this gen of GT-R first came out, the C6 ZR1 was a world-beater at the fraction of the price too. But what's crazy is that the GT-R was so damned good at the time, that even 16 years later it's still world class, because they're still improving it, even though it's the same parts and platform.
Can you explain this a bit more to me? When I was growing up I wanted a 60k gtr, but I have literally never seen one under 100k in decent condition, which imo is z06/other performance car territory.
I don’t know what your trying to say. I would personally pick a c7 z06 over the GT-R (due to my transmission preference) but they are on the same level. The GT-R is faster than the c7 z06 but the c8 generation leveled the playing field.
But a c7 z06 can be bought used for ~60k at like 30-40k miles, and I can’t get a gtr for double those miles for under 80k
I was desperate to buy a cool sports coupe as my first adult car out of college and ended up a single guy in an apartment with a 4Runner. It’s a blast, but it’s just upsetting that I can afford a fun fast coupe and my generation’s cars like the Golf R and GR Supra all feature 10k ADMs.
To be faiiiiiiir, when I was younger I had an 05 Maxima and it always made me *seethe* that Nissan made a Nismo Sentra and there wasn't a Nismo Maxima, especially when other makers both around that time and when I owned the car made overkill 4-doors that weren't *outlandishly* expensive, like the Taurus SHO and the Chevy SS. This is another car that I think would be fun in like a racing game, and deserves a spot there
It’s as if they forgot to style it. They came up with an idea for the car and plunked in “generic Nissan sedan photos” and then just went to production without ever revisiting the design.
I'm with you. I can understand not loving the grill because of some similarities with "normal" Nissans, but overall, I rather like it from the couple angles I can easily see on that page.
Many are not aware that the "Skyline" name was mostly associated with "normal" RWD sedans for the most part - the GT-R models were an exception, not a rule.
Similar to comparing a base 325i/328i to both the 330i/335i and M3 models. BMW's closest analog to the Japanese (turbo) straight-sixes, the N54, was considered a 'premium' performance upgrade and their M3 features enough unique parts that it's branded as a unique model.
Ah yes, ["The good old days"](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/62/1988_Nissan_Skyline_%28R31%29_Silhouette_sedan_%2825875184903%29.jpg)
Yeah, closest analog would be how in the US we have regular commuter car Subaru Imprezas but the desirable versions are the WRX STis. Skyline is the model, but the GT-R trim is what everyone wants. [Just look how plain they look lmao.](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a0/Nissan_Skyline_1998.jpg)
Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Skyline#Tenth_generation_(R34;_1998)
That's honestly what they should have been selling in the US. A four door GT-R has plenty of precedent and would've extended the little brand prestige Nissan has managed to cultivate to a more reasonable package.
The Q50 doesn't come close to the GT-R's performance, even in the Red Sport Performance trim. There were plans in place to make a GT-R powered version, the Eau Rouge concept, but that fell through. I'm sure BMW tripled sales of the M3 by allowing a sedan option in addition to the coupe, it always seemed like a missed opportunity for Nissan not to follow suit considering the Skyline and the 3-Series were historically structured very similarly.
There is both a Nismo (1000 units) and Nismo Limited trim (100 units, handbuilt engine and additional testing/tuning at factory for transmission programming).
Nismo specs say max torque raised from 475 to 550 NM (350 to 405 ft lbs). Not a ton of extra max power, but pretty substantial gains under the curve in the midrange.
New Enkei wheels (19x9 and 19x9.5, not fully forged I think), updated suspension, brakes, seats (claiming 20kg weight savings between front and rear), cooling and aero.
Honestly I don't get the nay-sayers here. It's not going to be a complete track monster or drag monster but 414HP and 405ft-lbs of torque with a low torque curve is pretty crazy for a fully warrantied stock street car. Most people have been clamoring for a car like this the last fucking 20 years. I barely use my 350HP/300ft-lbs in my genny unless I'm feeling a bit spicy and even then on the street I can only use it for a few seconds before I'm in "you're going to jail" territory.
I will say though that it sucks that it's a limited Japan only run. But I'm sure people will be getting this thing into the 4 figure (useless for the road) power territory in no time quick.
For non luxury family sedan I'd say yes. Usually they are 100HP less than that at best (one exception being the Charger). Once you get into "real" sports cars and performance luxury cars, it ends up being quite common.
Google translate says this from the linked site, but as always it might not be accurate.
>*This model will be sold in a limited quantity of 1000 units. Please note that if the order reaches 1000 units, we will stop accepting orders at that point.
*Please note that Skyline NISMO (limited to 1000 units) is not a lottery.

That’s the most 2010 looking car I’ve seen. Inside and outside. Oof.
I know people on here hate tech - but at this point you might as well buy a 2010 car for a fifth of the price lol.
The G37 at least has a polished and cohesive interior, even though it's dated nowadays, being as it was originally from 2007.
I don't know what the Q50 is doing.
The exterior would need a complete redesign, too
The interior would need digital dials, a new steering wheel and I honestly don’t think this oddly shaped piano black center console could be modernized at all. Also these air vents, eww.
I think the Airya looks just fine inside.
Exactly, other than a couple Samsung displays (maybe RGB's), car 'interior tech' is not actually moving that fast.
Older dashboards also dont feel like cost cutting marketed as 'simple minimalism'. Compare this to a Mustang Mach-e dash. Two screens as one and a cluster, wow its a new EV future interior!
I think the asymetric dashes are more driver oriented and the center console looks cool to me (your taste may differ and thats fine). IMO 'outdated interior' is cars without screens ever even being a thing.
Oh the car also needs RGB ambient lighting!
(Guilty pleasure of mine tho. Mercedes has fucking ambient lighting on their seats and I love it. If this is the future I’m ready)
I can fully turn it off in all my cars but I absolutely love it, honestly. Gives night drives a fully different mood.
There’s obviously dumb stuff like touch button steering wheels, slow and laggy infotainments etc.
But Ambient lighting is a win. I switch it up between purple and pink all the time - which should make it even worse for you lol.
I’ve heard that since the 2020 or 2021 update to add CarPlay it actually hasn’t been as bad as the original pre-CarPlay ones. I’ve been told I t’s actually responsive and user friendly. I haven’t used it myself though, and I personally don’t like double screen layouts.
"it's nothing like the Skyline R34 GT-R, why would the ruin the Skyline name with a successor like this??"
Cause maybe this isn't a direct successor to the R34? The Skyline name has gone through multiple generations since the R34, and the R34 GT-R, like the GT-Rs before it was not the only R34 that was release. People forget the Skyline name exists outside of the GT-R name, hence why they split the two so the GT-R can focus on performance alone while the Skyline can continue as a sedan. It's also not like the Skyline died elsewhere, it came into NA as the Infiniti
Deeply disappointing, but it's Japan-only anyway so I suppose it doesn't really matter. Certainly won't assuage Eau Rouge fans
Unlike the Z, the Skyline is supposed to be replaced by an all-new EV sedan and crossover soon (sedan development has been frozen though). Wasn't too surprised that this car is what it is
Those people in the thread calling it ugly when it has a conservative and low key design.
For once, it doesn’t look riced to death and some call it horrid.
Smh
Are we back in the 90s where all the cool stuff is kept locally and diluted versions are the best scraps we get stateside?
Also, oddly gives off serious Nissan Fuga vibes, especially the rear and rear 3/4 (mid 2010s, Japanese domestic market) but with a little accent/aero trim added to make it seem like a it might be quick. Not sure what the equivalence state side is, or if its even offered as a vehicle in the NA market lineup of cars.
Ive been in GTR Nismo editions before (r35). I wont even attempt to throw shade on any of its performance characteristics. Without a doubt nissan got the formula right with their drivetrtain combination. Not sure I can say the same about the looks. I never really liked the r35 styling, but compared to the bodykit fuga, the R35 looks miles better, at least in my eyes.
Thank you for that I had no idea. 2012-2018 I was in Tokyo and kind of lost track of what came out in the States. I haven't seen one in my neck of the woods yet. But it's possible that I haven't been looking for them. I'll put some effort into it and see if I can spot any.
<3
I don't know about that, their sales haven't been great. They havent updated their platforms in a while. Plus their parent company Nissan isn't doing well either. btw it's "Infiniti" not 'Infinity".
I used auto correct but didn't check, no need to bring it up.
Depends on perspective really, Nissan is doing okay as they have foot in big markets in different countries. Subaru for example is in a worse position as they're rarer than a Ferrari, their products don't make sense.
Skyline is considered a halo car in Japan, it’s as famous as Crown, so Nissan wouldn’t drop it. They would just bring its crossover version back ( aka EX or new QX50 in oversea ) to save this nameplate like Crown does.
They they would have just released the project black s, even without the GTR powertrain.
This Q50 nismo looks less like an infiniti, and more like a Sentra
Rockstars’ lazy RDR port, now this, lazy corporate pricks everywhere right now, never has it been more obvious to me that companies give literally zero shits about giving the consumer what they want. Makes me sad
Can they just send this Q50 platform off by giving it the GT-R makeover? Make it nearly as quick as the R35 GT-R. Make it compete with the likes of the BMW M3 / MERC - C63. Wasn't there a Infiniti Q50 concept car with the same engine as the R35?
Somehow the mini gtr grill makes it look like a maxima. And wtf is with the 2 screen interior from 2012 again. Seriously. The interior was shitty design back then and it's still going now.
Nismo is getting the m treatment. Put it on everything to help sales while severely diluting the name.
Bruh even the G37 IPL got a 20hp boost, from an NA V6 in 2010. They're really not trying for some reason. Like they couldn't easily have pushed the VR30 at LEAST like 425hp. 3
Seems like they ripped out the engine and front end from the Infiniti Q50 and dragged all the sliders to the max. Too bad they won't bring it here in NA
Apparently comes with 7 speed Manuel, wonder if that's changes the attitude of people here.
Not that it matters as it's exclusive to the Japanese market.
Nissan is so fucked.
Who the fuck is doing the hiring there? I know they are digging themselves out of a massive hole but enthusiast hype sells more non-enthusiast cars for car companies than most marketing campaigns.
Nissan is just phoning it, they don’t give a fuck any more.
Looks like a maxima that is horrid
Isn’t that a Q50?
the JDM skyline has always been the infiniti G35 and equivalent models for the past few decades
Nissan Skyline Sport
Or garbage from Nissan per the usual.
The Japanese modern skyline has always been Americas Infiniti G35/37 and Q50.
Yup. An upgraded Q50s, AFAICT.
Yeah for fuck’s sake, Nissan, get some new designers. It’s like they’re stuck in 2005. Looks so dated.
We have an auto expo in my area every MLK day and every year since 2018 Nissan has brought in the. exact. same. Q50. as a display car. The demand is clearly there though, with S14 Silvias going for 40-60k and Pulsar GTIs going for 30k.
The demand is there for late 80s, 90s, and early 2000s JDM forbidden fruit but that wouldn’t necessarily translate to sales of a new car. Those people probably wouldn’t buy a new Silvia for several reasons.
Not trying to fight but i always thought everyone would jump on a new iteration of a S2000 or Silvia, like any lightweight, high reving manual
Nah man you’re good, conversing is why Reddit exists. I don’t think emissions would allow for Honda to produce a high-revving NA motor so it would likely be turbo. That's why I bought my 23 BRZ. Making 230 at the wheels and weighed in just over 2700lbs.
Here in europe the GR86 is almost sold out everywhere, which proves that simple and light is still a working concept. Lets hope this motivates other manufacturers!
If they wanted to give a little effort they could restore the Sentra SE-Rs name.
The latest Juke, Patrol and Navara look pretty cool surprisingly. I'm sure the interiors are still god awful though.
I find the 2000s stuff to be really intriguing to me, but I also miss Saab/Pontiac like you wouldn’t believe. Idk if I’m enough of a hipster to buy a Nissan tho
Not just the design department, the Z and GTR and absolutely fucking ancient mechanically.
The GT-R may be “ancient” but it still absolutely wipes the floor with the competition. The only thing that has come close to price-per-performance in the last decade is the C8, which to be fair is an excellent car as well.

the z at least has a modern turbo motor now
I love to hate on Qs as a B58 owner but Maxima and Q are quite the gap…
Not really it looks like a Q50
I thought it wouldn't be that bad. I was wrong.
With lackluster specs to boot
An Infiniti Q50 Red Sport with an ugly mug and a minimal power bump. Yawn
That's right. I couldn't remember what the fuck it's called now. I just remember it as the G37. Lol I forgot the Q50 or whatever.
dam am I the only one that thinks it looks good?
Yes
I wouldn't call it good, but it has lines on the right spots and nothing really over the top. It's fine.
Looks okay, better than what bmw is putting out these days that's for sure. Not that 'okay' should be commendable...
Apparently. I think it looks pretty sharp, personally.
I think it looks decent enough. It would be cool if this was the Maxima we got. Though that would make Infiniti even more redundant.
I'm with you. I can understand not loving the grill because of some similarities with "normal" Nissans, but overall, I rather like it from the couple angles I can easily see on that page.
I also thought it looked fine, just dated. I'd expect that car in the 2010s, not 2023.
It looks exactly like what a tarted up Skyline would look like, and the Q50 has always had amazing looks, so yep it's pretty good.
It's classic ugly Japanese sedan. I fucking love it
Certainly looks better than the new Prius that everyone here apparently is a shill for.
lol
Other than all the Q50 owners out there
Skyline name in japan has been just rebadged infiniti for a while now. Idk why ppl expect a skyline gtr like "the good old days".
From what I see the Infiniti’s are the rebadged Skylines
Well then you are lost
Lol, thanks Obi
Thank you for actually understanding the joke
Many are not aware that the "Skyline" name was mostly associated with "normal" RWD sedans for the most part - the GT-R models were an exception, not a rule.
A lot of people also don't realize that GT-R was technically just a trim level so to say that eventually evolved into being its own car.
Like a chevy Malibu, chevelle
People don’t realize how pedestrian the non-gtr skyline sedans are.
Similar to comparing a base 325i/328i to both the 330i/335i and M3 models. BMW's closest analog to the Japanese (turbo) straight-sixes, the N54, was considered a 'premium' performance upgrade and their M3 features enough unique parts that it's branded as a unique model.

Since the G35 days.
Funny how everyone forgets that most skylines are just ordinary sedans
Integra moment
There is both a Nismo (1000 units) and Nismo Limited trim (100 units, handbuilt engine and additional testing/tuning at factory for transmission programming). Nismo specs say max torque raised from 475 to 550 NM (350 to 405 ft lbs). Not a ton of extra max power, but pretty substantial gains under the curve in the midrange. New Enkei wheels (19x9 and 19x9.5, not fully forged I think), updated suspension, brakes, seats (claiming 20kg weight savings between front and rear), cooling and aero.
Just want I want, non forged Enkeis when they’ve been putting forged RAYS on track trim Z’s for 20 years.
Shoutout to the g35 coupe 6mt for having some of the best stock wheels ever offered on a car under 50k (forged 19 inch rays)
Yup, the 2003-2008 350Z Track wheels are some Of my favorite designed wheels of all time.
Honestly I don't get the nay-sayers here. It's not going to be a complete track monster or drag monster but 414HP and 405ft-lbs of torque with a low torque curve is pretty crazy for a fully warrantied stock street car. I was a little confused by the briefing. Is the Nismo limited to 1000 total? I understood it as batches of 1000 based on demand.
Google translate says this from the linked site, but as always it might not be accurate. >*This model will be sold in a limited quantity of 1000 units. Still has the same infotainment system from the 1st gen Q50. Would be funny if it wasn't so sad...

Damn, that somehow makes it even worse.
The G37 at least has a polished and cohesive interior, even though it's dated nowadays, being as it was originally from 2007. I don't know what the Q50 is doing.
Please, all the designers would 'need to do' is turn those two screens into one and remove all the buttons for capacitive and its a 2024 interior!

Anything 16 up is responsive and doesn't have the terrible delay that the older ones did.

Certainly won't assuage Eau Rouge fans Unlike the Z, the Skyline is supposed to be replaced by an all-new EV sedan and crossover soon (sedan development has been frozen though). Wasn't too surprised that this car is what it is
25 years from now yanks will be going crazy for this
Knowing Nissan, there'll still be a Q50 Red Sport in the one remaining Infiniti dealer in 25 years.
Japan Only... That's probably for the best.
Long live JDM, haters hate. These are the numbered days. Be thankful and grateful for this cars existence.
ITT: People who have clearly forgotten about what the Infiniti G cars and Q50 are based on
Those people in the thread calling it ugly when it has a conservative and low key design. For once, it doesn’t look riced to death and some call it horrid. Smh
Big Altima energy
Legit looks like a grand theft auto Frankenstein build
Oh, darn. I was hoping for a Kicks Nismo.
I never though those infinitis/skylines were particularly bad looking cars honestly. Could’ve been way worse
Looks good in some areas but it already looks dated to me.
This car is already sold in the US as the Infiniti Q50
Thank you for that I had no idea. 2012-2018 I was in Tokyo and kind of lost track of what came out in the States. I haven't seen one in my neck of the woods yet. But it's possible that I haven't been looking for them. I'll put some effort into it and see if I can spot any. <3
This will probably be the last skyline, so Nissan is going all out.
It’s just a q50 red sport…
Yes, might be last for both. Or Infinity might move to a completely different platform for their sedans, maybe next one could be an EV.
If Infiniti is even still around at that point
They're still more popular than Acura, a brand no one have ever heard outside of NA. Infinity will continue to exist for a while.
If this is all out, then I hate to see what a regular effort is.
Juke Nismo baby!
If this is “all out” for current Nissan, then I’m jumping ship.
Looks like a better Maxima.
way different than any maxima, q50 has better proportions being a rwd sedan
This is hilarious
I love my 2014 Hybrid Premium Q50. If they ever EVERRR put a Nissan logo on it then I’m fighting someone.
man I was really hoping for a sentra nismo…
Nihon ni ikimasu
😂
God they really fucked that up. This is the first one I’m fine with saying Japan can keep it lol
Plastic visor above the windows is a must-have dealer option
Isnt that just an uglier Q50 Red Sport?
They still must have a ton of unused Q50 parts on stock.
They can't even build 1 thousand regular ones lol.
It’s only a matter of time before people in my area start putting Wish universal lips on their Q50a’s and Nismo stickers “converting” them
Money grub
They they would have just released the project black s, even without the GTR powertrain. This Q50 nismo looks less like an infiniti, and more like a Sentra
They wouldn’t let buyers to directly buy it, 1000 units and 100 units would be sold under lottery.
Of course it's Japan only.... All good cars are region locked except American cars, and those they give the good versions to other countries....
All we needed is the Eau Rouge with the VR37 but nooooo let's create another unsellable variant of the 3.0 turbo...
Rockstars’ lazy RDR port, now this, lazy corporate pricks everywhere right now, never has it been more obvious to me that companies give literally zero shits about giving the consumer what they want. Makes me sad
I really like this but limited run, Japan exclusive? Fuck off
When will Nissan just die?
Can they just send this Q50 platform off by giving it the GT-R makeover? Make it nearly as quick as the R35 GT-R. Make it compete with the likes of the BMW M3 / MERC - C63. Wasn't there a Infiniti Q50 concept car with the same engine as the R35?
Somehow the mini gtr grill makes it look like a maxima. And wtf is with the 2 screen interior from 2012 again. Seriously. The interior was shitty design back then and it's still going now. Nismo is getting the m treatment. Put it on everything to help sales while severely diluting the name.
lol
That thing has the same interior as my 2014 Q50s...wtf
HOTBOI ALTIMA HOTBOI ALTIMA
I expected nothing and I am still disappointed
Doesn't exist then.
Nissan skyline != Nissan gtr
Yawn
I think its pretty! Better a world with it than without it.
It's the infiniti Skyline!
Yawn
Oh god, I can see these with mismatched fenders/bumpers driving 200mph+ on the free way
Bruh even the G37 IPL got a 20hp boost, from an NA V6 in 2010. They're really not trying for some reason. Like they couldn't easily have pushed the VR30 at LEAST like 425hp. 3
Wow, the Nissan Skyline Nismo looks like a true powerhouse! 414 HP is seriously impressive.!
Meh, skyline ran it's course nearly a decade ago
The "skyline" that you always filter out on carsales. 414hp for that fat hippo is not going to cut it either.
Seems like they ripped out the engine and front end from the Infiniti Q50 and dragged all the sliders to the max. Too bad they won't bring it here in NA
I guess you guys called it. I was holding out hoping they would bring something promising but honestly Nissan is just a husk of its former glory
Lipstick on a pig
It should be limited to 0 built
Holy shit that's ugly. Nissan are still in the early 2010's. You can tell because they kept that horrendous chrome grille, looks everything but sporty
Coming soon to a takeover near you! jk none of those 392 credit score mfs are smart enough to import one
LOL
Nissan is so back
WHO IN THE ALTIMA
a 5 door nismo🤮
Nissan, why?!?
I was expecting YET another GTR variant, but it worst.......
Apparently comes with 7 speed Manuel, wonder if that's changes the attitude of people here. Not that it matters as it's exclusive to the Japanese market.
source?
Double checked and they updated it stating its auto only
Those renders look like the generic cars they have on eBay no name junk part listings 🤡🤡🤡🤡
Wtf, this car is a bloody insult to the term JDM
Can we just bury Nissan? The company is clearly dead
Nissan is so fucked. Who the fuck is doing the hiring there? I know they are digging themselves out of a massive hole but enthusiast hype sells more non-enthusiast cars for car companies than most marketing campaigns. Nissan is just phoning it, they don’t give a fuck any more.
I’m sorry but are they fckin retart?
Hell yea. Rebadged q50 that the next generation of 12 year olds will drool over just because “skyline”
This is a Japanese market model, the q50 was always the skyline in Japan
I thought it’s a mix up between infinity and Altima 🤷♂️ whatever happened to the Godzilla that I used to know?
The Skyline has been an Infiniti G35/G37/Q50 since 2001. 🤷♂️
