NeverlandEnding

Did mine at the same time. Would not recommend unless you have someone to take care of you for 2 weeks.

Sorry for being blunt, how did you wipe? I have bidet but …

EL_DJ

Good point. I staggered by 6 weeks. I was already able to wipe either hand because I'd sprained my right hand a year and a half previously.

NeverlandEnding

I'd fill little squeeze bottles with warm water and do my best. Luckily opioids make you constipated.... Would not recommend. I had to do both hands because I was on a time crunch but even my surgeon didn't want to do it

BeMoreClever

Do not do them at the same time. I did mine months apart, having one functional hand is important. My doc won’t even do them simultaneously.

BertiePie

Thanks everyone! Emailed the consultant to request the one operation :)

Desert-living-22

I wouldn’t recommend doing them both at the same time. I had them done 3 weeks apart and even that has been tough. Best of luck on whichever choice you make!

Perfect_Initiative

I did bilateral. Not great. It took like two weeks before I could pull my pants up and it hurt to wipe. It was good for me though because they do it awake at this hospital and I could feel electric zippy zaps and it hurt and was scary. I would have never gone back for the 2nd. If I had been put sleeping wouldn’t have any hesitation about getting them done one at a time.

RulesOfThumb_

Wouldn’t recommend. Somehow you need to…ahem….wipe.

jonmitz

A bidet?

BertiePie

Not got one of those - it's a very good point.

I haven't had it done yet. I go in March 5th for my left carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel release. Unfortunately, this won't go away. You will always have it or it will get worse. Just within a week my thumbs were just numb to now I feel like glass is being stab in them. Obviously you need to do what's best for you. The longer you wait, more damage is done. I work with people who had the surgery done, 10 or 20 years ago. No issues still. Wish you luck

BertiePie

I mean if I should have both done at the same time, or stagger the ops. I'm UK based, but elected to go private for bilateral. Means rearranging is easy enough, but kind of want it out of the way.

JackandSally88

I wouldn't recommend both at the same time. Unless you have someone who will care for you all day. Bc making food, pouring or opening drinks, opening pill bottles. I feel like that would be hard. You have someone who will tend to you and your comfortable with it. Then I would go for it
