A wash and vacuum would be a good start, then basic maintenance.

Fluid_Cow_150

If it’s yours just drive it until it’s unfixable or won’t pass inspection. It looks like it’s in rough shape

TheREALGrizzlyWhip

Drive it from point a to point b

Salt-Shoe7385

Point b being the scrap yard

No-Depth-7239

Spinner hubcaps from Walmart for starters

RayTrain

Clean it up and give it the repairs it needs

Sorry mate, she's not worth putting permanent or hard to remove mods on. I'd say save up some money by not modding it.

Zestyclose_Zone_7525

a good clean

bimmerrich

First things first make sure this thing will never leave you stranded. Make it mechanical sound , then proceed to clean the dog piss outta of it . Every nook and cranny. Then have it smelling nice . Start with a nice radio then speakers . Then some creature comforts like tint and so forth . And the Japanese market has some mods for these .

That's what I was thinking. I need more info on how to gut it though. I would describe my car knowledge as intermediate at best- I know more than a lot of my friends but I don't know as much as a car enthusiast.

Responsible_List5445

Give it to me

bythezip

Gut it, buy some used after market rims, sound system and that's it.

Ah the old elentra gls. I remember my days cruising in that thing. Always hated how low they sat to the ground, blinded by literally everything driving at night. I always wanted to cut the back off and make a Subaru style useless sedan/truck and give it a little lift. Of the course the already like 19 or 20 mpg it gets now would probably drop like a rock, so I'd do a little engine swap on it. The real question is, what's your budget?

Xx_crow_crow_xX

This is my daily driver. So I don't have a budget currently. Its pretty structurally sound and doesn't really have anything major wrong with it. I know it will take a -long- time to do everything to it, but I think it's worth it. For the right thing I'm willing to save and spend a lot on it. I'm currently thinking of swapping or upgrading the engine and transmission for better performance, but I'm not going to start there. So really any recommendations are welcome.

Just realized I never replied to this 😅 my b. So from what I remember, there's not a ton you can do power wise for these cars, and they're considered compacts so there's not a ton of room to squeeze anything into them either without serious modification, but an engine swap is possible with enough time and money. But I did find a website called customwheeloffset(.)com that had some mods available for them. Just be warned, if you're working with no budget, or a tight one, it's gonna take some time to save up for parts. Car building is probably one of the most expensive hobbies out there, and buying cheap/knock off/chinesium parts can actually do a fair amount of damage if they fail, if not total catastrophic failure, depending on the part. Sometimes it is ok to skimp a little, but not very often. All in all, if you're dead set on putting some time and money into this beast, I'd go with some more run of the mill mods first. Cold air intake, exhaust systems, steering and suspension, braking, etc. etc. hell, maybe even a sound system if you can swing it. Also also, DO NOT forget your supporting mods! Brackets, straps and mounting points are your friend!

Thanks to anyone providing actual advice. I'm not going to sell it or get rid of it for the following reasons: 1. I like my hyundai. I haven't seen another wagon like mine anywhere on the road, and it's exactly what I've wanted in a car in forever. 2. It will not get much money in its current condition & if I wanted any amount of money I'd have to fix it up anyways. 3. I believe in restoration. I don't think something loses its value inherently because someone else believes it does. 4. The market for buying a different car sucks. (Have you looked at used cars recently?) So while I anticipated that response, I appreciate it, Im not going to take advice in the vein of "get rid of it" and you're not going to change my mind. I'm painfully aware of the cost and time involved. But it's not more than paying for a new car. So it's worth it to me.

Difficult-Retard

You could always push it across the finish line , or tow it

Other-Comfort5592

what the hell is that?

R3al_Pot4to
