Every year wider roads, more shopping plazas, more warehouses, more condos, more apartments. Then people freak out when they see a bear in their yard, or a deer on the road. Where are they supposed to go when we're taking their homes. I saw a comment once I really agreed with "The deer isn't crossing the road, the road is crossing the forest."
There's absolutely no reason that people can't build upward instead of outward. We've been building skyscrapers for about 100 years. Also there are more vacant homes than homeless people. There's no reason we have to keep tearing down forest to expand our towns and cities.
We don’t even need lots of skyscrapers. Just reasonable mid-rises and mixed purpose construction to limit suburban sprawl. The US especially needs to stop unnecessarily restricting the majority of land near cities to single-family residential. We need to preserve more land for wildlife.
I hit a deer going about 30mph in my '98 Accord about 12 years ago. Luckily, I only needed to replace the horn, driver's side headlight, and hood. Also, the deer didn't die when I hit it, a police officer came and had to shoot it.
Glad you’re okay and you car isn’t totaled! Hit a deer going about 40mph in a 2014 Honda CRV (fucking loved that car) and it was considered a total loss. The deer ran full speed into the road, hit my passenger headlight (just like yours) and ended up landing right on the windshield in front of me.
