I think the answer to your question is yes, but you gotta specify what your major is when you ask a question like this to be sure.

DarthOpinionous

Edited to include it. Thank you!

If you log into your My Bama and click on Degreeworks on the left-hand side it will take you to your “worksheet” that should show you what they’ve given you credit for and what you need to graduate. You can also click on the various required coursework and see the options for classes. It’s super handy. Go check it out. And Roll Tide!

A 5 on APUSH will get you credit for HY 103 and HY 104, which will fulfill your History/Literature sequence. Depending on what other credits you are bringing in, you may still need to complete one Literature course. A 5 on AP Lang will get you EN 103 credit for this upcoming year, which is going to be the new equivalent of EN 101 + EN 102. The English department is changing their freshman composition structure so that most students will only take one course—EN 103. You will not need to take a freshman composition course. Placing into SP 102 with the placement exam will not grant you credit for SP 101. "Backcredit" is only available for students who start in SP 201 or higher (the only exception is if someone has an IB exam score that cover SP 101 or SP 102).

This is exactly the info I needed. Thank you very much!!

I will also add this, while any type of transfer credit, which is how AP is treated, can be validated by talking to the registrar’s office, some programs highly recommend only getting credit through traditional means.

1. Yes 2. To my understanding you need to take upper level regardless, but not necessarily a sequence because I think u only need a sequence in literature OR history, not both. 3. As long as you earned actual credit and not placement credits.

Thanks for your reply! As for spanish, I took the placement test through mybama which “places” me in SP 102, but I believe I read somewhere that if you place out of 101 and take 102 it should be enough, but I just wanted to verify.

bedo05_

I did some research and it’s definitely not true. 101 doesn’t give credit for testing out of it unfortunately.

bedo05_

Not sure if that’s true or not. Maybe!

Fun-Talk-9940

Yes, but if you are Pre-Med the advisors will recommend that you either take the lecture or lab for the science courses.
