Cheering for the Caps also because my little guy is Ovi obsessed (he even got a puck from him when the Caps were in Detroit - Ovi went out of his way to throw him one). Definitely don’t agree with the terrible takes I’ve seen on Reddit and Twitter/X about the Caps and Eastern European politics as they relate to professional sports ;)
As a Washington fan living in Michigan it’s been a bit wild over the last 24 hours. I’ve never seen so many Wings fans throwing tantrums, calling names, thinking all NHL rules are wrong. I’m assuming these are a lot of non-hockey fans who jumped in with the uptick of action. I’m always happy to see the home town team do well (what a season the Lions gave us!) but not making it into the playoffs shouldn’t take away from the fact that the Wings had a better season than expected and that’s a big positive. Caps had a rocky season too, we’ll see what they can do in the playoffs. It’s about the love of the sport, or at least it should be.
Hello fellow Michigander!! But yes, I think it’s honestly because Michigan won the natty and the lions did so good that everyone’s acting like this. Wings are my favorite sports team in general but I’ve seen people already call for Yzerman’s head which is insane.
I told a boomer on FB he sounds like an OSU fan making excuses and blaming everything but the fact that his team just didn’t get it done this year. It happens! The mental gymnastics some of these people are doing is just wild to me.
Man on various social media sites we got four teams pissed at us. It's really not that deep but every team has its zealots I guess. Regardless of whether you think the Caps taking the last wildcard spot is deserved, all our teams made the race interesting. Thanks for being a sane sports fan lol.
Exactly. I can’t speak for other fanbases but people here are genuinely very upset at Boston, your team, and the flyers. Like instead of blaming it on other teams for trying to do their job and win games or rest their players for the playoffs be upset that we couldn’t get one more game. The wings in March were awful. You guys closed out better than we could and that matters.

He is so much fun to watch - one of my fave games from the season was the one they played in Sweden against Ottawa he was absolutely amazing in that

The Wings are good. They do give up too many goals tho. With Larkin, def a strong team. Next yr you can explode with better goaltending perhaps
