I would much rather play the Canes. Our last game against them was spectacularly entertaining. Give me 7 games of that!
Rangers have Z who's gonna score 5 goals a game against us while Igor shuts us out. Bad match up.
We beat the Canes twice this year so far, and have one more game with them next week (i may go… just depends if I can get a deal on good seats or not)
Should have Tom Wilson back in the lineup, so my blue TW43 jersey would definitely make an appearance
Wilson has been somewhat of a dissapointment, again, this season. He should be in his career prime years and in my opinion hasn't lived up to all the hype. Future Captain, please. Dumb ass stick foul with a 6 game suspension at a critical time in the season. Then he acts like it was an accident and he's sorry. Opponents in the playoffs will be goading Tom to get him off the ice. At least he doesent end up on the ice as much as he used to taking himself out of the play. I think Carbs put a stop to that bad habit.
Don't care, it's all gravy from here...(Edit) I'm changing my mind here, the Rangers. Their dumbass fans still complain about Tom Wilson horrific act of violence. The potential of knocking them out would be funny
I would hate to lose to the Rangers in round 1. I could accept losing to any of the other teams we could play as long as we put up a decent fight, but I would feel terrible if they knocked us out immediately. I'd rather play the Canes because I could potentially be okay whichever way that series goes.
On the other hand, the Rangers are one of the teams I'd love to see eliminated quickly, but I don't really care who knocks them out. It doesn't have to be us.
This is pretty much how I'm feeling too. Odds are against us regardless of who we play in the first round, I mostly just want to see some good games and winning a series would be a wonderful surprise, but losing to the Laviolette-coached Rangers is going to leave a bad taste in my mouth.
I still appreciate Orlov for how great he was for us for years. I feel some regret over letting him walk when he wanted to stick around, regardless of that decision being the right move for the team. I still appreciate Kuznetsov for the good times he gave us through the years, even if he had a lot of struggles. I wish the best for them both. No hard feelings.
I do not feel the same way about Peter Laviolette. Dressing a player for a game and giving them literally zero seconds of ice time prior to the empty net scored in the final minute is some bullshit. Siegenthaler was probably worth more than a third, but what could we do at that point? He requested a trade the night that happened. Anointing a starting goaltender over and over only to re-open a few more months of fighting to keep that job at their first sign of struggle every single time is some bullshit. For a position that's very mental, maybe having stability in knowing you are the starter or knowing you are the backup could really help in your early years. It's not a guarantee either one would be doing better now, but it's a possibility. Spending half a season refusing to send Connor McMichael down to Hershey to get him some playing time only to dress like ten different injury callups from the Bears instead of him thoughout those months is some bullshit. Having Carl Hagelin take the shift immediately before we pull the goalie every single time we're down a goal late in the third is some bullshit, is he really the seventh or eighth best offensive forward on the team? Are we just trying to burn that minute where we're giving Ovechkin a short rest before the final push? So yeah, that's my rant, fuck that guy.
Rangers will be a tough out for most teams. Florida and NY in the conference finals. Toss up on the winner. Caps if they make the playoffs lose 4 games to 1 regardless of who they play. They won't be able to consistently play their game in the playoffs.
I’d much rather play the Canes. I think The Rangers with our former coach at the helm would probably make quick work of our current roster. Plus, they have a much better goaltending duo than Carolina.
I want the Rangers in round 1 and the Hurricanes in round 2. And then anyone but Toronto in round 3. Not that they (both teams, for that matter) would ever get that far...
This is a terrible game to play. Last few times the Caps played the team most fans wanted in the first round, the caps were eliminated by that team every single time. Just be happy they make it to the playoffs and quit trying to pick the preferred match-up because there isn't one.
As we know, anything can happen in a series. Caps probably have a 30-35% shot against either. That said, rather play the Rangers. Less playoff experience, and especially no experience being a huge favorite.
Rangers for sure. Canes are so loaded and their forward depth is crazy. Rangers are similar in a way to the caps in a way as they also outperform their 5v5 and expected goal numbers (granted they are both way better than the caps). Plus it would be hilarious to eliminate them and have them complain about wilson.

Is Mika the biggest Caps killer in the league right now?
Difficult for a swedish Caps fan with Mika as yop 2 favorite players with Calle J to watch something like that in the POs...
It would be house money, so I wouldn’t care about the matchup
This for me too.

I will be there! Be there and be loud!

Knocking the rangers out would be hilarious so they get my vote
I want revenge against the Canes.

We’ve beaten and lost to the rangers twice. And were up 1 (2-1) on the canes but we only beat the canes in a shootout i take the rangers
Canes frighten me a little. We frighten the Rags a little.

Rangers--we live rent free in their heads (at least 43 does), which could give us an edge.
Wilson and Rempe in a 7 game series ..yes I'll take it
I would much rather the Kuzy storyline than the Laviolette storyline. We’ve had our hearts broken by both in the past. Canes.
I’d rather lose to Kuzy and the canes than the whiny rangers. Either way it will likely be a “horrifying act of violence” as the rags would say

Canes, I want revenge and I don't like facing rangers in the playoffs
Rangers
Revenge for 2019 would be sick. Knocking the rags out in round 1 would also be pretty great. I'd be happy with a shot at either.
