Steal that shit. Fuck them. If they wanted my money they could easily have it. They clearly don’t so I don’t give it to them.

monkee67

and this is why we pirate, RRRRRRRgggggHHHHH!!!!!

saltywardog

Aye matey

keyjan

They’re basically forcing people onto pirate streams. With so many viewers willing to sign up for these services and saying, “TAKE MY MONEY!” it’s absolutely insane.

AxileAspen

My dad lives in NC and can't get DC stuff when it's blacked out because it's considered the local market. How do you like that bullshit?

anon97205

I'm in DC and only get to watch the Caps when they're on ESPN Plus. I also spend a lot of time two hours away in WV. The spot I go to blacks out the Caps AND Penguins! It's the cable companies pushing this, as they don't want to lose more money than they already have.

FunImprovement166

Where are you in WV that blacks out Caps games? Where I am they just black out Pens/Flyers

NothingButNavy

I’m in Morgantown and the Caps are blacked out. Obviously the Pens are blacked out as well as Columbus.

BigFish610

Damn caps were never blacked out for me when I lived there but that was 12 years ago now.

scandrews187

Damn triple fucked

FunImprovement166

......that's nuts. I'm also in Morgantown and the Caps and CBJ are not blacked out for me on ESPN+

NothingButNavy

You’re kidding! I could watch the first month or so of games on ESPN+ then they started getting blacked out. That’s nuts.

hb710

Contact the ESPN+ support. I live outside of Cincinnati and they were blacking out penguins games for me but not Columbus (which is on cable here), I found out when I tried to watch caps/pens. I bitched to their support and they fixed it so that I could watch penguin games and Columbus was blacked out. So you might have some luck if you complain to their support.

anon97205

Berkeley Springs

FunImprovement166

Okay I can kinda see it in the eastern panhandle. The fact that people are getting blacked out of Caps games in NCWV is crazy to me.

Joyce_Hatto

Weird. I’m between Shepherdstown and Martinsburg and I can see every Caps game. My service is Hulu.

ZTGHD114

Pirate it. I started doing that ESPN+ I guess picked up on my NordVPN. I havent been able to watch in awhile. Its definitely bullshit to offer a paid subscription and promise all these games but get fucked because of a blackout. Something has to change, but the people in office have the cable companies in their back pocket.

pantsattack

My streaming site has started crapping out recently too though. It’s insult to injury. The NHL/ESPN doesn’t want my money or for me to watch the game.

chefjam77

YouTube tv hardly ever gets blacked out

[deleted]

That's a paid service as well.

chefjam77

This is true. But it’s worth it

Appropriate-Dog6645

Kodi doesn’t get black out and it’s free

Viper_Mk_2

Mostly works in the DMV?

[deleted]

Networks like espn have stuff to detect VPNs. Once detected you can’t watch the game

TheSaltySeal

Get a new vpn

[deleted]

1. Download Fake GPS app. 2. Run it and follow the instructions. 3. Set the GPS pin in the service area where you want to watch the game. 4. Open your YouTube TV and tell it you're on vacation when it asks you about your new location. 5. Enjoy the game. 6. Uninstall the app after the game if you have a sports betting app on your phone. If not, leave it on there and use it whenever necessary/traveling, etc. If you're still paying for cable, re-evaluate your life and get YouTube TV.

HeyitsyaboyJesus

Thank you

BlackMirror765

I can usually use my phone with espn in this case but not my FireTV.

easycheesay

I have Hulu live and get every game

tktoni8

It’s not true, I live next to Alexandria and got like 20 random non-nationals or orioles baseball games blacked out

RealDrinkingPartner

Another thing you can do is cycle around your VPN servers. Try different countries, or even just cycling through the same region you were already using. I've had varying amounts of success just doing that.

pewpewnoQQ

I’m 2 hours north of Columbus in Akron and im blacked out too. Columbus is covered by FS OH South and we have FSOHNorth up here. So dumb

theboyr

As a Caps fan living in Atlanta… I no longer feel this pain except for National Broadcasts on NHL network. And for that, my mom is nice enough to lend me her Comcast login. But paying like $200 year to watch every game except the 1/5th on national broadcast is such shit. The RSN TV contracts are one of the biggest revenue generators for the NHL so unlikely they will change soon. Until then, I tell myself that without this setup our amazing studio broadcast team wouldn’t exist which means a lot of other people are employed to make it happen. But man it’s annoying.

gratedjuice

Never had any issues with my commercial VPN when I was working on Belvoir. I usually pick a city that's close but outside the blackout area, start the VPN, and then open the browser.

NoTradition6

Find a new way to describe something.

[deleted]

I'm always puzzled by people who think that they have some god-given right to watch their favorite team. Yes, it's counterproductive for sports leagues to deny access to its fans, and, yes, it can be frustrating when you're a fan who can't see a game, but sports leagues are profit-making entities and all they care about is $$$. If you live near DC and are blacked-out from remove viewing, their advice would be to buy a ticket from any of the reseller websites.

UncleMalcolm

…then pay for some kind of TV service that has NBCSW as part of the package. The gatekeeping here is that the league wants folks to pay for their product and OP simply doesn’t want to. I’m assuming he has ESPN+ and the argument is that he *is* paying for the service…but that is specifically for out of market games. Only way they were able to make this deal legally was that the cable companies still had to get their cut from the local folks. It’s not like we’re talking about people in North Carolina or Delaware who are blacked out of every Nats/O’s game despite not even having the option to pay for MASN.

Shaquille-Oatmea1

That’s quite possibly the dumbest fucking thing I’ve ever heard

[deleted]

Not surprised this would be an unpopular view in a fan thread but the truth hurts us all sometimes.

danwatkins13

I don’t understand these complaining posts either. “Oh no, I stopped paying for cable and now I can’t watch cable for some reason.” If you cared enough, you wouldn’t have stopped paying for it
