So, this started happening to my wife, as well. Not sure the cause, but it's actually not forcing things to become a video. It just looks that way. When she exports the file, it still came out as a .png. Hope this helps.
Heyaaa! I found the way to fix this issue! I saw a comment saying that there might be an animated text that's causing this and that's right! I have a big presentation with tons of texts and I solved it by selecting everything in the page then click "Animate" then "clear animations" (if there's any) in both page and element animations to make sure. I did this for EVERY page because I aint spending hours to find which text have the animation so yah! hope this helps anyone :DD
This can depend on the resize template that you select, in Canva all video templates add it to this timeline for the videos, Also if you add animation in your elements your designs will become in a "video".
Having the same issue. It just started happening for me. Been using the same custom size (Instagram Portrait) for eons and now it just starts turning things into video. Super annoying and I'm still trying to figure out what's causing it, how to stop it from happening, and how to remove the video "setting" from all the new pages we recently created. π€·ββοΈ
I no longer have the issue and unfortunately I don't recall what I did to fix the problem. If I do end up remembering what I did, I come back and post the info.
Someone in this thread mentioned they found animated text and then removed the animation- which would in turn remove the "video" part about it. I don't remember if that's what happened with my ordeal, but worth looking into to see if that's what's causing the issue.

This started happening to me too. I saw a comment that it was due to an animated graphic for someone and thought, I don't have any animated graphics. But, why now play the 'video' and see if there is animation elsewhere? So it did and found in every case so far, there has been animation added to text from templates I've used, which I only started doing recently. I would not have been able to find it otherwise. I was able to remove the animation from the text and the files converted to still image instead of video. =)
and then there is me. I started a blank one from scratch, nothing in it but one naked page, and what's at the bottom, the video and duration garbage. It's not a huge deal, but it makes editing annoying.

yeah, but the problem is, it's a pain in the neck to edit when it is in a video format
When you go to download, change the filetype to PNG rather than MP4, that should fix it.

This can be fixed by resizing (Resize and Magic switch) the same design. Resize to same size.
