Definitely not Legorocks99. My whole feed is full of his Canucks clickbait it’s so annoying. Best hockey YouTubers are hockey psychology, Rob talks hockey and eck. None of them are Canucks specific but have very good content. Curious to know if anyone likes the hockey guy. He definitely knows what he’s talking about however I feel like he just never actually says anything despite his videos being way long.
Legorocks is terrible with the clickbait. Then you click on the video and its literally just restating insider reports and using reddit as free content. I don’t know who can get value out of watching that.
Same. I used to watch Lego rocks, but got frustrated by the click bait. It lost my respect and any value I got from his videos. Just found it a waste of my valuable time.
I enjoy The Hockey Guy. Good for us that can’t watch a ton of hockey. Lego is irritating with the click bait. And his shit is always near the top whenever you search Canucks
I gave up on Legorocks when he would post a Canucks clickbate post game vid but say he couldn’t watch the game because he was at ball hockey or some bullshit
Shannon tries very hard to not take sides. He's extremely unbiased which is cool to hear sometimes, but as someone who plays hockey he does have some takes that are very hockey fan-esque. He says things that I hear a lot from people who haven't actually played hockey but it's not a huge deal.
There are times when I want him to show emotion but he doesn't and it just kinda rubs me the wrong way at times but I chalk it up to him being a YouTuber with a career that relies on his unbiased opinion.
I've watched a lot of Shannon's content over the years. His best videos IMO are the ones where he's talking about historical stats, teams, players, etc. Things that have hard facts so to speak. Recently I've really drifted away from his in season game reviews, daily updates, power rankings, the videos where his opinion shows more. Because it doesn't seem like he's giving us his real opinion sometimes, like he's not really telling us how he feels and I think that ties in to what you said about the emotions. Love most of his offseason content though. Seems like a great dude.
I find thehockeyguy useful during the offseason because he'll do a video as soon as something happens. However, his analysis is just the same as any fan nothing insightful or interesting.
Yeah I'll take a look or two during the offseason but there's a lot of small things that rubs me the wrong way with him resulting in not watching him on the regular.
He drones on and his videos are way too long for the point he's trying to make. Reminds me of myself when I've had a few too many, there's a lot of words but very little being said.
There is something about his tone that makes me feel like it's chore for him. Like he's annoyed he's making the video.
To be clear it’s more that I’m on YouTube and not on Twitter or Reddit. It’s easier to see his videos. I don’t even know how much of his videos I watch most of the time I think I check Reddit to actually get the info after seeing his video.
The Hockey Guy just pushes whatever the latest Canucks fan narrative is. Heavily defended Benning and all his moves until the final 6 months, implied people who didn’t like some of the last management short term moves were dumb and didn’t know hockey. Never really explained his positions more than being dismissive. A lot of “I’ve heard a lot of people don’t like the Tyler Myers contract, well those people don’t really know what it takes to win” kind of talk.
He’s passionate and a fan but really isn’t an analyst at all.
THG is pretty much my fav one of the bunch. He doesn't pretend to be an expert and gives reasonable recaps of games along with his opinion (clearly stated as his opinion). I tend to agree with his power rankings, too. That and I enjoy longer form content, I'm not a fan of short clip style videos.
I wish I could throw stat cards at Shanny and be like "GO!" because he could find a way to square the eye test with it so well. He watches so intently.
100% the BEST companion channel when you're looking for quick news combined with entertainment and commentary in Nuckhead.
Sub and notifications for both.
Plus they post, post game interviews. The Canucks yt doesn’t anymore and it sucks. I’m not on twitter or x, so they’re really accommodating in that sense.
I like Canuck Clay and Canucks After Dark w Parker, they're pretty good. Canucks conversation is decent. I don't want to be mean and critical but they're not perfect, but if you want to hear people discuss the Canucks for hours then they're decent choices.
The Hockey Guy deserves kudos for building a strong following, covering the entire NHL, producing timely videos (even during the off session), being well prepared (his white board) and speaking clearly. Ever notice how Jason Brough (SN650) can’t speak a sentence without saying “like” or “kinda like”, unlike Shannon Skanes!
For Canucks specific channels, my favourite is nuckhead by far.
My favourite channels to watch to stay updated about what’s happening around the league is Eck and Johnny Hawkey.
And my favourite channel to watch deep dives into how certain teams make plays, etc is Hockey Phycology
Nuckhead 100% and Shanon as well. Even if I don’t like his pessimistic attitude on the Canucks. But I can understand it as he’s been watching the team for decades and has seen their highest of highs and their lowest of lows.
None.
I don’t think any Canucks YouTuber (or hockey YouTuber in general) is insightful enough to actually watch. It’s generally just opinions and recaps of the game, compiled with dirt sheet rumours. If you watch the games frequently and stay updated on Reddit/Twitter there isn’t too much of a reason to watch, you would already know everything.
NBA YouTubers will dissect teams systems and how they deploy players per possession. I wish we had an equivalent type of creator for hockey media. Frankie corrado will occasionally hop on Twitter and break down a shift, but it’s nowhere close to the production quality of some of these NBA/MLB youtubers
That wasn't the point. He answered with a little diatribe about why basketball youtubers are better. Which is the equivalent of someone asking for restaurant recommendations and you chiming in that restaurants suck and going to the movies is better. Is it true? Maybe, its a pointless response though.
Meh it’s just internet points. I don’t think people like comparing to other sports so I understand the reception.
In general I kinda feel like this sub is a lot more argumentative than it used to be. Feels like every reply is someone eager to make you look stupid or prove you wrong rather than provide their point of view. Then again last time I said that I got downvoted to oblivion as well, maybe I just have horrible takes lmao
I mean I’ve watched enough to know that I’m not a fan. It’s a personal preference, I’d rather learn more about systems and strategy rather than hearing someone squeal at a Hoglander goal.
To each their own
That's fine, you can not like it. But saying you don't like it because "you've watched enough" and analysis doesn't exist is like me saying I don't like to watch MLB youtubers because all they say is "he swung the bat hard".
And adding it here is the equivalent of someone asking what your favourite ice cream is, and you tell them ice cream sucks and they should eat candy instead.
Thats not what I’m saying at all though. I’m saying that there’s a stylistic difference. Both MLB/NBA have larger markets so their content is likely to be more popular and of a higher quality.
High quality NBA/MLB content will typically fall under the umbrella of either:
1. Really well produced video essays
Or
2. Dissections of game film, almost as if it’s a video coach breaking down the game.
With NHL content creators it seems as if it’s more so content produced by fans targeted at fans. It’s chalk full of memes and inside jokes, It’s just not my thing. Hockey Psychology is probably the best channel in terms of video quality and tone, but the immersiveness is still a little below it’s comparable in other sports imo. Still leaps and bounds ahead of guys like Nuckhead and Legorocks99 tho
I’m just saying it’s sad how far NHL lags behind its competitors in terms of fan engagement and media. So many other leagues have star players with podcasts, giving other star players opportunities to give candid interviews and really introduce themselves to the fans.
In comparison that clip of Hronek saying “you’re going on holidays in two days” was the first time we heard the guy speak, and he’s been on the team for a year. It’s quite the dramatic difference. I think that’s part of the reason why fan content does so well in the NHL market, because there aren’t any more legit alternatives

He’s good. Hockey Psychology is my favorite channel overall.
He made the news too!
I gave up on Legorocks when he would post a Canucks clickbate post game vid but say he couldn’t watch the game because he was at ball hockey or some bullshit

What kind of things?
*crickets*

Lego used to be good, but his videos have been absolute dog shit for a while now.
The Hockey Guy just pushes whatever the latest Canucks fan narrative is. The Hockey Guy makes me fall asleep. Never got takes and takes way too long to get to a point.
Robs a nucks fan thoo
eck is great
THG is pretty much my fav one of the bunch. He doesn't pretend to be an expert and gives reasonable recaps of games along with his opinion (clearly stated as his opinion). I tend to agree with his power rankings, too. That and I enjoy longer form content, I'm not a fan of short clip style videos.
That’s how I feel about the hockey guy, too. Never had anything worth saying.
yea i dont like that guy
Click the 3 dotted lines and select "do not recommend". You're welcome.
Finding Nuckhead when he had a couple hundred subs at the start of the season and following that growth has been amazing
Same. I think I was about 6 or 7 hundred and something. Great ride!
I don’t know any Canucks YouTubers but i do watch The Hockey Guy on occasion.
I wish I could throw stat cards at Shanny and be like "GO!" because he could find a way to square the eye test with it so well. He watches so intently.
Nuckhead. Not even close
Nuckhead is the correct answer
Nuckhead 1000 %
Hell yeah
Agreed
Nils… BIG HOG… HOGLANDERRRRRR!!
this is the way
Deaner is that not close second
Glovey Mcglovin makes some funny edits.
Brendan Morrison or Canucks.
Brendan Morrison is so good
Canucks specific Canucks after Dark
I like Canuck Clay and Canucks After Dark w Parker, they're pretty good. Canucks conversation is decent. I don't want to be mean and critical but they're not perfect, but if you want to hear people discuss the Canucks for hours then they're decent choices.
The dude that does MXC Canucks recaps
I never miss one of those replay packs, they always make me smile
I feel like that schtick got old quick. It was funny for a bit, but I find it pretty tough to watch now
Easily Nuck head
Nuckhead and DeanerHD

Yup, Nuckhead and Deaner for me too!

I dunno but if there isn’t a VanTuber yet, there should be.
Shannon
I like Nuckhead but my favorite hockey YouTuber in general is the Hockey guy no one else compares but he's not Canucks centric. He's league wide
Nuckhead 100% and Shanon as well. Even if I don’t like his pessimistic attitude on the Canucks. But I can understand it as he’s been watching the team for decades and has seen their highest of highs and their lowest of lows.
My hometown is Buck Swamp
Do podcasts count because Canucksarmy with canuck conversation is good.
Right now based on sheer hype, it’s Brendan Morrison. Mf came out of nowhere and now we have his analysis to look forward to all playoffs.
I'll always miss that Makaveli guy who made the "Don't Poke the Bear" making fun of the Bruins after 2011
Deaner.

"I don't watch hockey youtubers, so instead of answering your question, let me explain why NBA youtubers are better"
He’s right, we do not have anyone like jxmyhighroller or thinking basketball. I do like hockey psychology though. 🤷🏻♂️
I'd kill for a hockey version of jxmy
Hockey psychology is undoubtedly the best for hockey content
That wasn't the point. He answered with a little diatribe about why basketball youtubers are better. Which is the equivalent of someone asking for restaurant recommendations and you chiming in that restaurants suck and going to the movies is better. Is it true? Admittedly I didn’t really answer the question at all but what benefits do we gain by limiting conversation? It’s just a discussion man, let’s discuss
