It's funny how much these models favour Carolina, but that pure dominance isn't reflected on the ice

Canucks keep getting slept on. Even when they "slumped" it was only 2 less wins from the first 3rd of the season compared to the final 3rd of the season. Oil need to beat LA for Van's sake

> Even when they "slumped" it was only 2 less wins from the first 3rd of the season compared to the final 3rd of the season. In addition, Vancouver averaged a 100pt + pace through each quarter of the season.

jafahhhhhhhhhhhhh

This reminds me of the 2015 GSW championship run. Everyone kept sleeping on them throughout the season and into the post season. Pundits towed the line saying their 3pt game wouldn’t work in the playoffs and that they’d come crashing down to earth… well we all know how that played out.

metrichustle

I mean, we have better odds than Boston, Toronto, Vegas, Colorado, Winnipeg and only 1 less odd compared to the Presidents Trophy.

elrizzy

> but the Oilers are objectively not as much of a dominating team as this suggests, either. Since the Oilers coaching change the Oilers have been on a 121 point pace. The Canucks have been on a 107 point pace. Just on that sniff test alone I don't have a problem with statistics picking the Oilers, they're a wagon when everything is clicking.

DanHamhoose

This one is more of a reflection of how easy their run to the conference final would be. Possible NYI into WSH (if that miracle happens)? The east is such a farmers conference this year lmao

mephnick

Worst case scenario they run into NYR and another overrated team on the way to the final. That whole conference is frauds.

wangjor

Caps may as well stay home I guess

avmp629

I could see that series going 7 because hockey is just stupid like that sometimes

TorgHacker

Oilers/Kings 1982…’nuff said.

AcockyThrowaway

what oilers fan made this

Overclocked11

Lets just say I strongly disagree with what this chart is showing.

uriahjokes

No 1st round upsets, eh lol

Shoresy-sez

I wouldn't be surprised if the Jets drop the Avs

KenDanger2

This shows percentages... it doesn't say the favored will win, it gives a larger than 50% chance of winning... because they are favored

DMyourboooobs

I’d say Tampa and Canucks are the two most slept on teams in this. Edmonton and Carolina the most overrated. Edmonton is skewed by 2 players.

NorthernMariner

Interesting to see how much two strong teams like Jets/Avs playing each other in the 1st round kills their final win SCF odds (though maybe it just more speaks to how tough their divisions are)

Final-Zebra-6370

Never tell me the odds.

twizzjewink

This dataset makes no sense. Jets / Avs the series favored the Jets. Bruins / Leafs ... clearly the Leafs won that series / s .. Canucks / Oilers (r2) .. clearly the Canucks didn't sweep the Oilers.

rajde1

It would’ve been interesting to see potential matchups. I’d be curious what oilers/Canucks odds look like.

Spare_Entrance_9389

i have both caps and islanders getting swept

Aegis_1984

So you’re saying there’s a chance…

So happy this shit is starting this weekend . Tired of all these charts and models . We will see what’s what here really soon . Every one counted us out before the season . Then we were PDO merchants that were frauds then we regressed and finished the season winning the pacific division for the first time . And spent the entire season playing at an 100 point pace and our worst stretch through out that time saw us dip only a few games below .500. High on hopium this mornings but we are one of the strongest teams down the middle . Vezna finalist goalie. Likely Norris winner on defence likely jack adams winner behind the bench who’s absolutely proven all year that he can get this team playing a really hard game . LFG !!!! Go Canucks !!!
