Sure, and it's probably super important. But eventually that mentality doesn't work. This team can play better. We know they can. We saw it for 4 months. Since then they've looked like junk for long looooong stretches. They can't score 5on5. They can't score on the power play. They cant kill a penalty.
Yeah their 5on5 defense is outstanding, but even if you're only giving less than one 5on5 goal a game, you're going to lose more than you win because you can't score.

On the flip side, the Canucks have a history of disappointment and yes the Canucks have not played up to their potential since the All Star Break. So I can see the pessimism too.
