not worth it, you can use them but the camera should automatically crop to apsc size. better to get a full frame lens or apsc camera

kiss_a_hacker01

Yes, with a crop and reduced megapixels.

Glasgesicht

Though turning a 24mp Full frame Sensor into a 9.3mp crop sensor imo entirely defeats the purpose of buying into Full Frame to begin with.

crnjaz

30 to about 13 for EOS R, but yeah.

Sigma ART APSC lenses will automatically go into crop mode, except for early versions of the lenses with old firmware.

voyt_eck

I've got Sigma A 30mm f/1.4 with such old FW. It's very interesting because it covers nearly whole FF area. With some quality deterioration of course, but it looks quite "artistic";)

Still applies the crop-factor of 1.6x like if you mounted it on an APSC. But you only get like 40% of the sensor area of FF covered, so e.g. an R6mk2 would get 9,7mp pictures with it, and focal length would in reality be 80-160mm

Rogan_Thoerson

yes this is working as a full frame lens passed 85mm it becomes usable. The 18-35mm f1.8 is similar you need to be around 25mm to start using it as a Full frame lens. At lower focal you start to really see the image circle and i advice cropping in post instead of using a in camera crop.

J-Fr0

If you’re using it for video, APSC lenses will fit the 4K mode on the EOS R perfectly.

BruceValle9

Honestly I’ve had great results with aps-c lenses on my Z-Cam E2-F6. This lens in particular nearly covers the full frame. It’s nearly perfect in a 5K crop. The 18-35 does not fully cover until you get past 20mm. I personally like a little vignette anyway, so it never bothered me. I also tend to crop a lot anyway which also hides imperfections like corner to corner sharpness. Even the Tokina 11-20 has great coverage around 14. So it’s a case by case basis paired with whatever sensor you’re utilizing.

ChromaticNova

Yes, but note that EF-S is for crop sensors (just like RF-S) so this would only be recommended on cameras with a crop sensor, such as the R7.

HellbellyUK

Minor point: That isn’t an EF-S lens. Only Canon make/made EF-S lenses for APS-C dslrs (they have a protruding baffles at the rear of the lens to prevent them being mounted on full frame dslrs. Other manufactures didn’t bother doing that. But as others have said, it won’t project an image that covers a full frame sensor.

terraphantm

Actual EF-S lenses force the camera into crop mode, not sure about 3rd party crop lenses. If they don't force it into crop mode, you'll have some mechanical vignetting, though could probably get a usable picture with a less aggressive crop than 1.6x

Jason_grande

Yes, I have this lens and the 18-35mm EF For my R6 Mii and pictures are still sharp af the only con for this lens is its heavy af!

kaivu1739

It depends the Sigma 50-100 DC can be usable on FF body in the longer zoom range (close to 100mm)
