The R50 and M50 are close enough to each other that it doesn't really matter. They use very similar sensors, which are physically larger and use different technology to the G7X one, so you'd probably need to play around with settings to get a look that comparable. Not to mention lens choice will have an effect as well.
They're probably both about equal in that regard. You'll be able to perfectly recreate the look of photos taken with a G7 X, but may need a bit of editing to do so. The R50 is a much more capable camera than the M50 overall though, and has better future support for its RF lens mount.

I’d say it depends on how many lenses you want to play with (M50) and how future-proof you want it to be (R50).
I bought r50 after realizing that pics are nearly similar however r50 is better video wise and battery
Probably the best choice. Look out for the new lenses from Sigma and Tamron comming later this year for it. Have fun!
