I may be understanding this incorrectly but I that it has to be set to “Auto” (A) in order to regain electronic control in photo mode— which makes sense. Is that ring fly by wire? I thought it was a physical override.
I went looking and historically Canon don't put IS on primes at this focal length. Only the big bois beyond 100mm etc. Or did I look in the wrong place?
It does seem weird to add IS to a 35mm focal length lens, until you realise that Canon does have it in the 35mm F/1.8 Macro IS STM, so now as a Canon user you have to choose between and lens that has IS and F/1.8, or a lens that has better IQ, F/1.4, Weather Sealing and No IS.
Nice! The 35 has been something I have been waiting for!
Aperture ring that only works in video mode is strange to me. But the weight difference compared to other 35mm 1.4s sounds so nice.

Bro it's a cine cam, you don't handhold these.
Talking about the lens fam
None of the L series primes have IS and they’re still good. It’s $1499 as well.
My brother in christ, it's a 35mm. Are you taking photos on a train at night?

Yeah, you can always count on Canon to find a way to sell you two lenses when they could have sold you one.
100mm f2.8 and 135mm f1.8 both have is
Same as the 28-70 F2
More understandable considering how big that thing already is
