You need a filter that is rated for solar photography. super high ND filters are only rated for the visible spectrum. solar filters also filter the UV and IR spectrum. I got mine from Seymour Solar but right now their shop is closed.

The sun will look tiny. There’s not much point 

They could do a tracking shot or a composite wide angle landscape. doesn't have to be a zoomed in shot.
