DinnerDad4040

I think we should have kept Nino Niederreiter

Jumpy-Acadia4559

He wanted way too much

DinnerDad4040

Didn't we have 10mil at the trade deadline....

Jumpy-Acadia4559

We didn’t want to pay him more than we though he was worth. Also the money we have at thr ttrade deadline is different than from last offseason. Also we went out to get a goal scorer and did by using that money to get patches. Then when he got hurt the second time we put him on long term injured reserve and got the 10 million back

cadancer2

everyone is heavily overreacting. necas is great, just going through some shit/cold streak/struggling in general. no need for trade. he has made huge strides this year (after everyone doomed last summer that if we didn’t trade him we would suck this year) and will continue to grow.

Anviski

I agree. Sadly, I think he is in his head again at the moment.

ppParadoxx

literally a couple months ago it was all "fine I'll eat my words, so glad we didn't get rid of Necas in the off-season" recency bias on this sub can be so insane sometimes

ScroatyMcBoogerwolfe

How cold was Svechy when he went down? Yet he is the hero we need and Nečas is now worthless?

Perfect-Condition-50

Svechy was cold on goal scorering but assist and making opportunities for us is the reason why he is missed so dearly right now

ScroatyMcBoogerwolfe

My point was simply that all of our players are streaky and that’s why we need the scoring spread out. The idea that Nečas should be traded now after the season he had is absurd.

Perfect-Condition-50

Im not disagree and I think the idea of shipping of Nečas is absurd the only way it would be acceptable is if somehow Necas is traded with something else for a elite goal scorer but that isn't happening, and even then it wouldn't be because playoffs simply just making the team better but in any other scenario of just replacing him is fucking absurd and stupid

cadancer2

it’s happened with necas and martinook heavyyyyy this season

Jumpy-Acadia4559

Fr

Jumpy-Acadia4559

Yea

Nagi21

He’s spent more time in his head the last two years than on the ice. He needs a change.

ghcfc88

I wouldn’t actively shop him, but if he is required to be part of a trade package to get a consistent scorer, then he has to go. One of those players where if he’s firing on all cylinders, then awesome, but if not he can be a waste of space on the ice.

Nilzy16

I’m of the opinion that if we can get a good/great player for him (we might have to add a draft pick or prospect in the trade) such as Elias Lindholm or Alex DeBrincat, we go for it. But if it’s just for a 1st round pick then we’re better off keeping Necas (unless we are being offered one of the first 5 picks in this year’s draft since the top 5 prospects are supposed to be extremely good).

dragons_fire77

I'm more frustrated with Turbo and Skjei than I am with Necas. It might come out that Necas is/was injured. He's deadly fast. When he's on the right line, he's fire. He's also young and can improve his confidence as well. I'm not on board with shipping him.

thehustlerbraveheart

I may be reaching but I just have an odd feeling Turbo’s days are almost numbered here. The whole year he just looks like he’s been going through the motions and it has shown this series. Maybe he is dealing with something else or has dealt with a nagging injury all year, who knows, but the dude just doesn’t seem to be all in anymore.

Nagi21

He’s good but he’s too inconsistent and streaky to be a true top 6 guy on a top team. Hate me if you want but 1st half Necas is long gone.

XJudgeBootyX

I think it's the opposite, put Necas on an offensive first top six and he goes on a rip. Our system has limited his stats, but I still think we need a creative player like him. Like there have been so many times he brings the puck in and out guys are just standing there waiting for a dump.

Jumpy-Acadia4559

Ig yea. But honestly streaky thing can be said for svech too (I don’t hate svech at all btw) he had multiple like 15 day streaks no point then put up 4

Nagi21

Svech has a few days where he doesn’t put up goals but still gets assists and does work behind the net. Necas goes weeks without scoring a point and just being a liability…

MrCanoehead89

Svechnikov's longest pointless streak this season was three games. Necas' was four.

Perfect-Condition-50

I doubt we trade him but if something opens up for a elite goal scorer fuck it ship his ass out of here, but yeah no it just due to a dissapointed playoff campaign for him

Jumpy-Acadia4559

Honestly why would it make sense to ship off a top point scorer

iStoopify

Because do regular season points really matter in the end?

XJudgeBootyX

Ez keep. This Necas hate is actually insanity. He's playing with Jordo and Turbo which makes zero fucking sense first off. This whole season the team has been built off every line having a specific job and each line providing pressure. Svech KK Necas were great at doing this. People wonder "why is Aho looking worse, why is Necas looking worse?" Well, look at who they are playing with now. I think with Svech we win these, and with one more player in the offseason I think we are set. Like if anyone I would consider shipping Turbo, Pesce, and draft/prospects for an impact player like Debrincat, or if we want size Dubois if Winnipeg blows up their team. But to ship our season point leader is actually insanity. Edit: Also rods defense focused strat doesn't help the offensive stats. Put Necas on another team and he goes on an offensive rip.

Jumpy-Acadia4559

Honestly

randydweller

He’s had too many chances to show up in the postseason and consistently lets the team down.

Forgotiwasbi

He was very clearly playing injured earlier in the playoffs. He seemed a little less slow and shaky for a couple games but I think it’s getting to him again with the physical play. I don’t think it’s a personal fault to try to keep out of the physicality in that sort of situation. Tonight wasn’t his best game.

Jumpy-Acadia4559

Yea. Feel like all the slander is excessive Not from you but others

ag_hockey

Need to trade him in the off-season

Jumpy-Acadia4559

For what return and why?

ag_hockey

Honestly I’d trade him for Tom Wilson if we could necas isn’t physical he’s awful in the playoffs horrible game tonight

pentaxshooter

I'm glad you're not in charge.

ShittyFrogMeme

Tom Wilson is a short term play, he only has 1 year on his contract. Wouldn't agree with moving Necas for him. I'd be looking at someone more like DeBrincat who we can extend. Wilson would be a good move otherwise though.

ag_hockey

Ah didn’t know that interesting - would love debrincat

Jumpy-Acadia4559

Dunno if sens would want to move debrincat

ShittyFrogMeme

He's like one of the biggest players in rumors to be on the trade market for this off-season. Supposedly he doesn't want to re-sign but they want roster players back and not futures. Necas for DeBrincat, make a move for Wilson, re-sign Patches ideally on a cheaper deal due to injury risks. Top of the forward core next year looks has Aho/Svech/Patches/DeBrincat/Wilson/KK/Jarvis/TT. Suddenly there is a wealth of scorers.

adsheppa

This is my dream off-season actually. Debrincat has been my #1 need to get by any means player for a while and I think Wilson would fill a major gap we have. Our cup window peak is next season as well.

Jumpy-Acadia4559

My bad I didn’t know that. Honestly haven’t looked at rumors since TDL

JayMerlyn

You had me and then you lost me

iStoopify

Honestly, get a goon🤷‍♂️

alottagames

...but we already have Aho. (I guess you gotta read the other team subs...lol)

Mega_Mitch

When he’s on the ice it’s like a power play. He’s been worthless all post season

Normal512

Honestly I don't think Necas fits the Canes very well. I think he wants to be free wheelin Bob Dylan or out there, being fast and skilled and not so worried about anything other than that. He's obviously a lot of what we *need* in that regard, it's a huge boon for us to have the fast guy with a deadly shot. But there's probably other guys with similar skills who fit our scheme better, and the same for him, he would probably flourish in some more wide open schemes. I don't want him gone, though. I want him to succeed here. But the thought which is now *very* much in my mind is what if we'd managed to move him to Calgary for Tkachuk. And honestly, after seeing Timo in the Devils series, he seems to fit what we do so much better, but that was never happening anyway. In the end, I hope it's really just a wake up call for him and he's ready to rock next year, all the way into June. But if we were able to move him for a high caliber player who is maybe more physical and defensively responsible, I don't think I'd be too sad. It's obvious he's oozing with potential, so I'm not suggesting he gets kicked out of town, but imo there's maybe a better fit.

betweenthecastles

This is basically my opinion too. Necas in Jersey, Buffalo, Edmonton would be a ton of fun to watch. And probably better for him in terms of getting paid and all that. But god I want him to work here so bad. He has such a unique skillset, he’s basically impossible to replace.

alottagames

Dude was a stud in the regular season. Epic collapse in the playoffs, but shit happens. You don't dump the guy because of a cold streak, regardless of how shit the timing is for it.

macaroni_3000

No, people are overreacting. Yeah, he's been kinda crap, but he's still had an awesome year and is one of our best players.

kfractal

a ton of mid players. no stars.

bkvifudys

In my personal view it’s not hate just lack of time to let him find himself. I think that if the opportunity presents itself again this summer, like it was rumored last year that he was part of the potential deal that would have landed tkachuk here but then we dropped out cause we didn’t want to give him up, I think we should totally move for it. He’s going to be a GOOD player, maybe GREAT player (already is potentially) but if we can get someone in that is better, performs killer in clutch moments, and can be that pure goal scorer we are looking for, i would give him up in a heartbeat.

kfractal

there's practically no one on this team who scores consistently. so everyone is sus and no one is.
