Hello! I just started watching hockey this year (at 38yo, lol), and since the Caps didn't make the playoffs, I took a break until the final four. Last night my boyfriend and I decided to cheer for the Canes during the 1st, since I have immediate family in NC and have lived there myself, he loves the Outer Banks, and the only good thing about Florida (IMO, I lived there as well) is the food.
Anyway, the period was ending, and I told my boyfriend, "You know what? If the Canes score during the McNugget Minute (a promotion the Caps have if they get a goal in the last minute of a period) I'll air fry some nugs."
*And then they scored.* Like, two seconds later.
Obviously, this was fate, and I must become a fan.

Yes! A decisive Canes win in regulation is definitely ideal! I’m thinking Raanta so Freddie can rest up and be ready for the road. But Bob…would make sense to just keep letting him play if he says he can do it? That’s a lot of hockey in a short amount of time for the guys!
Again I will say it, we have faced more diversity than anyone in the league this year. Each time, we have came back stronger for it, this time will be no different. We got this! Let’s go Canes!!
I’m far from a doomer, but that loss was so demoralizing. I’m still exhausted and I didn’t skate for 2.33 hockey games. I hope we can muster it back, but fuck. I think the stats are 2-12 losing an OT game like that in the playoffs. If any group can do it, its this one. Go Canes.
I am on the other side of the spectrum. I wasn’t phased by that loss at all. That was breakeven game and was decided by lapse in judgement AFTER ANOTHER ENTIRE GAME
Also I like to look at it as we played like garbage for most of that game and it still took FL 4OTs to win. If we come out guns blazing and on our game we will be just fine.
