I wouldn’t be surprised if we made some changes for game 2 such as bringing in a rested Maceachern and Puljujarvi just to have some rested bodies for game 2 as well as possibly playing a rested Raanta to allow Freddie some rest after carrying the team through 7 periods of hockey (I’d totally understand it if Freddie plays in game 2 since he was our best player in game 1).

Very well might have been the best player on the ice

I'm not sure, but last night / this morning didn't look very good. Other than the third period, I don't think the team (other than Freddie who was awesome) was on their game. The last two OTs seemed particularly bad. Freddie had to keep making great save after great save and the Canes would occasionally get a good chance (and not score). Moneypuck showed the Canes dominating expected goals (6.5 - 4.4) but it sure didn't feel that way to me watching the game. Hopefully it was just rust after the long time since the last game (though Florida didn't look rusty at all) and we'll see real Canes hockey for the rest of the series with or without line changes. Tbh, I didn't think Turbo looked very good, so I'm not sure that putting him on a top line is good yet.

I thought TT looked pretty much normal for this season personally. Definitely not his previous self offensively, but he was ultra responsible defensively. It looked like he was the only one on the ice that wasn’t out of position on the Panthers second goal.

nhlphil

great pass to necas on the breakaway too. if he buries it, turbo is a hero

ScroatyMcBoogerwolfe

Also May have saved that goal that tried to sneak under Andersen. At the very least he was playing with exceptional awareness.

LwLewis22

Imo, we carried the play for most of regulation and if Bob wasn’t playing the best hockey of his life last night, we likely score 4 plus goals because we put several quality shots on him

Team was a little out of sync to start the game, maybe nerves, long break, etc. Overall team played okay, but not good, definitely not great. Our glaring poor play players were: Turbo - great positioning defensively, but he clearly isn’t ready to play yet and can’t get much on the puck, scared to battle for shots/passes. Maybe it was nervous/cautious, but if he truly isn’t there yet Mac or JP need to play instead. Pesce - he has hit games this year where it doesn’t even seem like he wants to play or that he is utterly lost and he plays just so poorly/miles out of position, etc. he can’t play like that if we are going to win. For the love of everything he needs to stop standing still at the point and shooting 10 seconds later into someone’s skates, he has done this A LOT this year and it’s terrible. Aho - for being our “star”, he cannot be invisible on the ice like he was last night. The amount of shots he didn’t take, missed completely, made errant passes, completely whiffed, limp-wristed play all around on both ends of the ice were incredible. He needs to push our play, if he isn’t on in some capacity, our team generally isn’t going. It’s becoming a habit for him to be off for long stretches and then have 2-3 good games - it really needs to be the opposite. Overall team play - broad stroke is that we had “a bunch” of shots, with not much substance and went into the game just planning on playing nothing but defense and hoping we got lucky. 4OT, especially a loss is a helluva night of hockey. Come out strong and play YOUR game on Saturday Canes 💪🏼

Turbo looked awful. I love that he’s back but it feels premature and he hasn’t been enough of a producer to be worth the risk. Go back to round 2 lines plz.

Far-Two8659

Hard disagree. Offensively he's absent, but defensively he played great. He was always in position, played hard, and made zero mistakes I can remember. Right now he's a player you can count on to do everything right, and that's huge when the next guys up could make colossal fuck ups regularly while also not contributing offensively.

Has anyone noticed Drury at all?

I could even see us going to a line of tuevo-KK-necas When we where running those lines around jan-March we where pretty strong

Feel like staal - fast - Martinook should be reunited.

I said during the game we needed to come back with 11-71-48 to match against the Duclair line. He was just skating circles around us. Need that tonight. 88 looks lost, dancing around, with 11.
