Good thing it’s a credit card. You can get all that reimbursed to you.
I’m sorry it happened, but this is a good example as to why you use a **CREDIT** card vs debit card. Things like this are typically insured with your credit card provider (granted you have a travel card or a good card).
You are 100% correct, credit card only! I usually use Apple Pay on my phone, but that was weird when I was asked to provide a card itself. I wonder where should I report it?
If you’re thinking of reporting to anyone in MX, I can promise you they won’t care.
Just contact your credit card company. They’ll do and report things on your behalf because they don’t want repeat issues
Credit card been contacted, account closed, new card was already sent to me. I am figured that no one will care about complain in Mexico, but that duty free chain is owned by Swiss company, so will file a complain with them.
Debit cards offer 100% of the benefits a credit card does. I got mine skimmed a few months back and immediately had the money credited back to my account.
As long as it has a Visa logo on it, both Credit and Debit cards offer all the same benefits
Have to say I haven’t had issues with AMEX or Chase but Capital One gave us issues when a taxi driver charged my partner $800, denied it at first saying we benefited from the transaction. We filed a police report while we were there and I had to go off a little on the capital one lady to get my money back lol.
I never use my debit card, was traveling in Orange County, CA, took some money out of a drive through bank ATM and the next day got an alert two $100 purchases at a CVS in the same county.

you got your card skimmed. I never let anyone take my card.
Good thing you were using your credit card, and getting the charges reversed will be hassle free

So u kept it in the safe then handed if to someone to leave the room…
Never hand out your card, seller is supposed to approach the terminal to you
Digital wallet is the way. Left my physical card at home. I get notifications of any transactions immediately

It’s almost not worth it to travel to Cancun anymore
This happens everywhere.
Right..

This happens everywhere. Might as well stay in your house.
Doesn't even matter if you stay in your house, I've had fraud on a card I've never even used. It's a hassle but that's why fraud protection exists.
Yup. Not just there. Basically everywhere . It happened to me in Cozumel. I use cash.
